  1. Protein, fiber and fats (preferably "good" fats) make us feel full! Ideas: -A big salad with lots of raw veggies, cheese, and tuna (if you like the taste of tuna). I didn't see any salads in your daily menu. -Corn nuts (high in fat, filling, just be careful for the salted/seasoning ones because they are very high in sodium) -Pistachios (same...
  2. Protein helps repair & build muscle Solid food takes more time to digest and to break down the protein and send it to the muscles. Because protein shakes only take about 30 minutes to reach the muscle after ingestion, it can be most effective to drink a protein shake immediately following a workout. Some prefer just drinking chocolate milk...
  3. Hi, I drink gatorade all the time. I play soccer 2-3 times a week and hockey 2-3 times a week. I have frequent urination, but I drink tons of water and usually 1/2 or one full gatorade per game so I'm well-hydrated. I don't get headaches or back pain from gatorade. This website Open Original Shared Link).html says all gatorade flavors are: wheat...
  4. I eat RiceWorks Brown Rice snacks instead of Quaker Rice Cakes... they are quite expensive here (almost $4/bag!!) so I tend to only buy them when they are on sale. They are delicious and say gluten-free, vegan-friendly, whole grain, etc. right on the bag Open Original Shared Link Yum!

  6. Hi everyone, Thanks again for all your input, suggestions, advice & encouragement I have added tuna to my salads as part of my post-game meal rotation and am taking a bit of extra iron during menstruation to help with my energy level. I am also returning to my calcium-magneisum-vitamin D supplement to make sure those are taken care of. I...
  7. I actually only have 2 glasses about 2-3 nights a week, after hockey. I don't usually drink chocolate milk after soccer (if only because we go to the bar after games lol). I only feel this way after hockey. Because of all the heavy equipment and the physical element of the game, it's harder on the body, energy-level and I sweat a lot more. I think I must...
  8. I use an electrolyte-replacer sport drink & also eat bananas almost every day I think I might just be experiencing fatigue due to menstruation, I noticed my other post was around the same time of the month. I'll compare how I feel after my games this week to how I feel after my games next week and see if there is a difference lol Thanks
  9. I feel funny after playing hockey again today. I played indoor soccer the past two days with no problems. Today I played hockey and I feel weak and a bit dizzy again, plus my asthma is bothering me. I ate gluten-free corn flakes for breakfast, an omlette with cheese & salsa for lunch, LOTS of water, one bottle of gatorade, lots of chocolate milk after...
  10. Thank you all for your replies, it is helpful to get advice & hear others' experiences I am lucky to have become friends with one of my profs at school who is a neuroscientist. He studies seizures for a living so I will ask him lots of questions and maybe go with him to see an MRI being done in person so I know what to expect. I'm not claustrophobic...
  11. Hi all, One of the symptoms that helped me get diagnosed with celiac disease was seizures. I say that because I think that the seizures are the only reason the doctors took me seriously enough to seek out the cause. Anyway, I've had 4 (that we know of) seizures in the past 9 months. My CT & regular EEG were clear, so the DR wants me to have...
  12. np just beat together 3 tablespoons of butter (if you keep butter in the fridge, it helps to leave it out to soften), 1.5 cups of icing sugar, 1.5 tablespoons of milk, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla (or to taste). Icinig is mainy just sugar! Just beat until smooth (an icing-like texture) and enjoy!
  13. I agree with Richard. Either get this guy you explain himself to you or find a new GI. I'm sorry you're having to go through this!
  14. Toblerone white chocolate are gluten free! And delicious Icing can be made at home extremely easily -- I can provide a really simple recipe if you like. Have a happy birthday Jillian
  15. Could someone please confirm the information I posted about Yeast Extract? Thank you
  16. If you care to share more, perhaps you could explain what the DR is looking for? If he wants to diagnose celiac disease you would have to eat gluten for at least 3 months (my GI doc says 6 months). If you've been gluten-free and happy & healthy then IMHO there's no reason to put yourself through that. If there's another problem they're looking into...
  17. I agree that your DR is ill-informed! My DR sent me straight to a GI specialist when my ttg came back positive for celiac disease. I didn't have a complete blood work-up, just the ttg. Both DRs told me to continue eating gluten until after the endoscopy/biopsy was done and then I went gluten-free immediately afterward. I don't like the idea of yo-yo-ing...
  18. Is Lipton Onion still gluten-free? It lists Yeast Extract in the ingredients and I always thought that was unsafe as it contains Barley. This list: Open Original Shared Link says it contains gluten. Thanks Jillian
  19. Well said and I agree 100%. Personally, I am big on getting tested because I was so sick for so long that I really needed an answer. For others they just need to feel better and don't care why or how! It's up to you Good luck, Jillian
  20. It's not stupid at all -- you'll find many on this forum who, even with health insurance, are self-diagnosed either because they did not want to undergo an endoscopy and biopsy, or their DR's were not well-informed about celiac disease and were no help to them anyway. I'm lucky to have a young DR in the family (my sister-in-law) who has more up-to...
  21. I found this: Open Original Shared Link that says the onion soup is gluten-free, but it was last updated January 2003. However, my husband bought me a packet and it lists Yeast Extract in the ingredients. I always thought that was unsafe and this list: Open Original Shared Link says yeast extract contains gluten (as it contains Barley). Thanks...
  22. Hello, I found a tasty-looking recipe for pork tenderloin in the slow-cooker that I would like to try out, however it calls for dry onion soup mix. Does anyone know of a gluten-free dry onion soup mix? It is not listed on Campbell's Gluten-Free List (Canada) and I can't seem to find anything with online searches. Or does anyone know how I can make...
  23. My hubby drinks beer & eats gluteny food. I get a kiss on the cheek afterward, but I'm only worried when I can see evidence of gluten on him (a crumb or a drop of the beer on his lip), haven't had a problem yet
  24. Hi, No answer yet. There was no website or phone number on the package, so I had to track them down through three different company names lol. I emailed them through the JohnVince website, not sure if I ever will receive a response. The ingredients seemed perfectly fine, so I tried a very small amount last night (after my flight, just in case!) and...
