  1. In case anyone was dying to know.... "Hello, Thank you for your patience. We have confirmed that our Nativa Organics Cough Drops Honey Lemon do not contain gluten. 2. Hello and welcome, I am from Canada, so some things are different between Canada and the U.S. I by Grimm's or Freybe's meats as they are specifically labelled gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link They carry weiners, lunch meats, sausage, pepperoni sticks, etc Ensure is also gluten-free: Open Original Shared Link...
  3. Is this only applicable to the U.S.? Thanks, Jillian
  4. I have been gluten-free for 3 months and am still waiting for the anxiety to at least go down a bit. I don't have anxiety around eating unless I'm at a party/social gathering and am very hungry and trying to figure out what (if anything) is safe to eat. I seem to be in a constant state of anxiety with seemingly no direct cause and it's very distressing...
  5. I suffer from serious anxiety and sports are the only thing that help me. Good for you for doing this super-healthy diet, I agree to eat as much as your body wants and get some exercise when you're feeling tightly wound. I had very similar withdrawal symptoms and they went away within a couple of weeks... stick with it and you'll feel AMAZING Good...
  6. I had a glass of red wine with dinner last night and am feeling just fine today I drink it all the time with no problems -- enjoy!
  7. Hello and welcome, I don't know where you're from or if anyone has already mentioned this, but here in Canada you can get a tax break on those expensive gluten-free alternative foods if you have an official dx. Some countries have other programs in place that financially aid people with severe dietary restrictions, but they require a DR's note -- something...
  8. Of course, the obvious is to make sure 100% you are not somehow getting glutened. Has your DR done a lactose intolerance test? A food allergies test? As you know, many people with celiac disease also have lactose intolerance or casein allergy (or other food allergies or intolerances). Stress and poor diet can also cause D. I'm sure...
  9. Isn't the reverse also true: that other autoimmune diseases can put you at higher risk for celiac disease? I was dx'ed with asthma as a child and celiac disease as an adult. I have a cousin who has diabetes and is checked for celiac disease and watches for signs of it because of the comorbidity. I don't know if it's that celiac disease actually causes...
  10. Are they colds or sinus infections? If your held feels like it's about to explode it could be a sinus infection, or you could have developed new allergies. I used to get a lot of colds and sinus infections before going gluten-free. I've been gluten-free for nearly 3 months and have only had one cold, and it cleared up much quicker than in the past -- sorry...
  11. It's sometimes tough to connect being sick with the culprit. It could be a number of things: -was the children seasoned/breaded? -the dressing may have contained gluten and the people telling you it was gluten-free were wrong -was the salad made fresh in a separate bowl? could they have just picked out the croutons? -if you were in a restaurant, cross...
  12. Hi Cyndi and welcome, I just wanted to echo all of the above advice... It may be only the nurse and not the DR providing bad information, try to talk to the DR directly. If you do have celiac disease ("early stages" or not), you should most definitely 100% be on a completely gluten-free diet. It will change your life -- for the better, of course ...
  13. Sorry, unfortunately I've never been there. I was diagnosed here in Winnipeg less than three months ago, so I haven't been in Guelph while gluten-free yet Looking forward to my first go at it over Thanksgiving weekend! *fingers crossed I don't get glutened* Jillian
  14. Anyone? I bought them yesterday and really want to use them (I feel lousy ) and of course, the manufacturer is no help so far (no response to my email). They were the "safest" looking ones based on the ingredients, but I still don't want to take a chance -- suffering the symptoms of a cold is much more bearable than the symptoms of getting glutened! ...
  15. Small world! I grew up in Guelph Try here: Open Original Shared Link they have tons of gluten-free products Open Original Shared Link I went to Toronto for College and am currently in Winnipeg, but will be home for Thanksgiving too. Welcome and good luck Jillian
  16. Does anyone know if Nativa organics honey lemon cough drops are gluten-free? The only suspicious ingredient I see is "organic flavour" and as these are a generic brand, I'm not sure if I trust the company to disclose hidden sources of gluten. Anyone try these before? The website does not provide allergen information. I emailed them but this forum is usually...
  17. I wouldn't recommend this on a regular basis, but we keep ensure high-protein in the fridge for those ocassional days where I sleep in or something and need breakfast on the run. Ensure are gluten-free and lactose free: Open Original Shared Link and I enjoy the taste Bon apetit, Jillian
  18. I would NEVER trust McD's... maybe Wendy's if it wasn't busy and I could watch everything being done. Here's the gluten-free list for Canada Open Original Shared Link
  19. I agree! My GI himself told me the scope "looked" normal, but when the biopsies were evaluated he realized I actually do have celiac disease. As difficult as the waiting is, I also advise to completely disregard the nurse's comments and wait to see wait the biopsies show. The good news (as ang mentioned) is that you can start the gluten-free now...
  20. Anyone know of any taco seasonings available in Canada that are gluten-free?? My hubby used to make wonderful taco salad, but we haven't been able to find a safe powder since my dx!! Thanks, Jillian
  21. This is a really old article, but I just stumbled across it myself and thought I would share in case others have yet to hear about the gluten-free beer brewed in Winnipeg Open Original Shared Link
  22. Sorry, I hit my spacebar and it sent the message in the middle of it lol ---- Welcome to the forum While healing a lot of people experience increased intolerances to other foods, alcohol, caffeine, etc. It's possible that if you give your body a break from alcohol while it heals, you will be able to consume it just fine in the future. I had to...
  23. While healing a lot of people experience increased intolerances to other foods, alcohol, caffeine, etc. It's possible that if you give your body a break from alcohol while it heals, you will be able to consume it just fine in the future. I had to give up coffee for similar reasons and many people cut out dairy for a while and are able to add it back in...
  24. Not sure if your question was directed at me... I take a Calcium-Magnesium-Vitamin D combo in the evenings with my Singulair (asthma medication). My blood pressure is usually low-normal and sometimes drops low when I'm glutened or due to syncope episodes. My edema does not seem related to diet as it only happens in extreme heat or high air pressure (airplane...
  25. Thanks, yes I did look at that website but they only ship to the U.S. Perhaps I shall just print something off from one of the free websites. Thanks, Jillian
