  1. Guess you don't realize that right now in Canada the only gluten-free beer we can get is La Messagere. And Nubru is finally another being made in Canada too. I just wanna try my options so that if its good, and cheaper, i'll sometimes buy it too instead of paying $19 for a 6 pack of La Messagere... ~ Lisa ~
  2. Thanks amanda! It will be such a relief that if someone asks "can you eat this" and i read "natural flavour" or whatever I dont have to say no because of not knowing whats in it!! ~ Lisa ~
  3. I am registered with them. The thing is that the teacher each separately decides on their own what kind of accomodations I got. Some I got basically nothing, one let me take midterms/final to write at home. So it depends on how badly they think you need the extra time or help. I filled in the form this afternoon so now i gotta wait for them to say my letters...
  4. Thank you patti **hugs back**. I wish you could come give me a real hug!! I could sure use one of those.... And thanks for saying I have a good attitude. If enough people tell me that, I may be able to maintain it. I'm going to go to the disability office before class today and say I need more letters for my teachers. I wish I had actual PROOF by now...
  5. As all of you know, who have been following my posts in this last year, its been the worst health-wise with my undiagnosed crohn's and my endless tests, trips to ER, and seeing specialists. I knew school would be hard, and you all know I tried as good as I could. I finally checked my marks and i BARELY passed. In fact, I made it by only 1% . And I didnt...
  6. I finall found where to buy the Allergic Living magazine and there was an article in there... Labels To Show All Top Allergens New regulations governing food labeling of allergens in Canada have been off-delayed, but Health Canada finally has good news on that file. The department has announced interim guidelines to food manufacturers that end exemptions...
  7. I can try something cold. I have a million tensor wraps. Can just wrap something up in a towel and tie it around my waste so it stays on my back. I'm skinny enough that i can do that without choking my stomach . i unfortunately dont have a hot water bottle, but in the morning maybe I'll have a hot bath instead of a shower. I honestly don't know where...
  8. Hey. I'm dying of some MAJOR back pains for the last 2 days already. I know it's arthritis related because where I have the pains is where I had that triking injury a little over 3 years ago to my very lower back, basically right above the tailbone. I had this happen to me in the spring time, as well this past year--hurt to stand, walk, sit, or lie down...
  9. Canada is now so picky about their labelling rules that its been updated again. So even if there is no gluten in it, they can no long say "natural flavour" or "natural seasoning". It must be specified for all of the major food allergies. Just read about that. And up here, according to the Canadian Celiac Association, if something is said to be gluten free...
  10. Hey guys. I went to the liquor store to buy some more beer yesterday and gave the name of the Nubru beer to the guy there. I told him its made in Winnipeg and that I'd like to try some. I said it couldn't be any more expensive then La Messagere, and he said "Yeah this stuff is...pretty pricy" . If I do get a hold of some, I'll definitely give my review...
  11. This clearly must be US Campbells! I've been eating chicken and rice soup, and a few others, and there is DEFINITELY no wheat or any form of it in the chicken and rice soup. Any that they've listed gluten-free here in Canada is made with either potato starch or corn starch. And that has never changed, because I continue to check the labels. And I've...
  12. Thanks...just wish today wasn't my 5th anniversary of having Celiac, kind of ruins the moment...I've been quite miserable today because of it. ~ Lisa ~
  13. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v481/num1habfan/IMG_2441.webp Theres my meal!! ~ Lisa ~
  14. Just got back from the wedding...it WAS in fact gluten-free and lactose-free...not only THAT, but I got served my plate the same time as the head table got their meal!! Before anyone else got to eat. And because everything was numbered and had assigned seating they knew just where to bring it. It was so filling, and so delicious. Also a HUGE relief because...
  15. Well like I said, they're supposed to be making me a separate plate thats not cooked the same as for the buffet line. So i'm still terrified of there being gluten in it...but a bagel is a good idea for sure. I wish I had internet on my cell phone, could keep you updated that way! ~ Lisa ~
  16. I wouldnt DARE to do that ever again (cheat). I'm pretty sure that was after one of my scopes?? I was sick from that and at the point didn't care too much. If I wasn't nearly puking from hunger I wouldn't have resorted to eating regular food. Much too sensative for that... You'd NEVER catch me with a purse in my life, so I guess it's a good thing I'm taking...
  17. So today (the 31st) my cousin is getting married by a justice of the peace in a hotel here in Regina. They had emailed me the menu and I told him what I could have (which wasn't much) and that I wasnt sure about the sauces on the chicken and beef because I didnt know if they were gluten-free/lactose-free. I checked my email today and he said they are preparing...
  18. See a new doctor. I've gone through so many I don't know if I can even count them all already. Celiac definitely has neurological symptoms. If it's not brainfog then it's emotions out of control!! For the last 2 years I've been told everything has been in my head. It's not only the new problems they think i'm making up---January 1st will be 5 years of having...
  19. I have hypothyroidism also. Even though mine was determined through bloodtests and am on medication I still have the fatigue symptoms because my dose is not high enough (and for some reason the doctor who diagnosed me won't raise it any!). Maybe that's the problem too. If I was you, I WOULD NOT do the cheating thing. Take it from someone who's been there...
  20. Ahhh i don't think I can do this. How am I supposed to continue putting up with my health and fighting for an answer when everyone and everything around me destroys any faith I have??? (and by everyone, that means those who i see face-to-face)....Hard to believe I lasted exactly 23 months without truly losing belief in myself... ~ Lisa ~
  21. Blehhh I had another attack during the night, nearly threw up a couple times and felt like someone took a giant knife and stabbed me under the boob...I didnt fall asleep until about 6:30 am ~ Lisa ~
  22. Don't do it.. ~ Lisa ~
  23. Ohhh I thought you were referring to the whole idea in general....I am not looking forward to tomorrow. Think today I'm gonna fill myself up on lots of nice fattening food ~ Lisa ~
  24. It doesn't matter if it's raw or cooked, I just honestly can't stomach them. Whatever diet I've been on following that book I bought on IBD is good enough for now, it at least helps me get out of bed or be able to eat somewhat. Only time I haven't learned to handle it is when I get flareups. So I don't want to alter that diet any. ~ Lis ~
  25. My vegetables are limited and well since you're not supposed to eat pepper for gallbladder I guess I'm left with only lettuce and cucumbers now. Everything else makes me sick. And I'm not talking about cramps or bloating, I mean actually SICK. I know plenty of people who can't eat any, either (with some form of IBD). ~ Lisa ~
