  1. Well he HASN'T said it specifically, but remember that it is his idea right along and I talked to a few others who had the surgery and they all told me the same thing -- no fats. My auntie even described it perfectly: pain under the boob. Which makes me realize this has started awhile ago, I started having these pains in the summer yet! And believe me, I...
  2. As u guys all know I'm goin to be startin a 3rd diet, for gallbladder problems. I set my date for Dec 27th because by then anythin i made for xmas would already be eaten so I can begin cutting out anything fattening. I'm not terrified of missin the food or goin nuts from eatin almost nothin, it's the Celiac part of it all that's got me soooo scared...
  3. I wouldnt know what the wheat salad tastes like because...I've never ate it and obviously am not about to now Just seeing alot of it kinda bugs me after awhile, especially if we celebrate both christmas-es ~ Lisa ~
  4. My mom just finished cooking the wheat for xmas (just for her and dad to eat, not even for the whole family haha) and she was bugging me if I want to taste some. I said ya sure, if you want to kill me At least I got a good laugh out of it...but it honestly smelled like s*** . Now hopefully DURING xmas the rest of my family doesn't seriously ask...
  5. They thought for awhile there I may have. One of the specialists I'm waiting to go back to see again knows it's not Celiac causing my constant severe pains in the lower right side. Anything I eat, regardless of gluten-free, leaves me in pain (most of you know this whole case already, just reminding those who dont know ). It could also be Crohn's or Colitis...
  6. That's awesome . Definitely want to see some pictures! ~ Lisa ~
  7. Yeah tapioca is the same. I can't remember from where, but I know I bought some with a label that said "Tapioca starch/flour" haha. Even with the potato though, I've used flour if it said starch and it still works out the same. ~ Lisa ~
  8. So nice you people on here love me I'm soooo going to be checking this one out, I plan to make a stop to the liquor store again for xmas (gotta make sure I have enough beer haha) so I'll mention the name to them, see if they heard anything yet. I know the company name sounds scary but anything can't be called gluten-free in Canada until the Canadian...
  9. I just buy everything. This way I know that what I'm getting has already turned out and I don't have to worry about accidently putting a little too much of something or not enough. The only things I do bake is basically cakes/cookies/muffins that kind of stuff. Even though buying from a store is so much more pricy, I also find them more convenient and yummy...
  10. I thought it would have been something more, also... Meh family is still the same basically, definitely still get the insult thing from them... My question is: HOW to a manage to eat anything for xmas?? It's not gonna be at my house... ~ Lisa ~
  11. I think it was mainly to re-check my heart and to find out how things went the time after the last time i seen him and if I was feeling better. I wish he WASN'T going to be gone for 3 weeks starting new year. Then i wouldnt have to starve/suffer for so long. My usual suffering is more than enough as it is ~ Lisa ~
  12. Yeah that would sum it all up, that's for sure. Though then again...I dont think that says enough, either. ~ Lisa ~
  13. OK so I finished there sooner than I should have.... He told me don't worry about the heart/ECG thing because he had me do another one today and said things look a lot better... He asked what happened at ER and was quite pissed too when I told him they refused to see me, I didnt see anyone until 2 am, and they wouldn't listen to anything I said. He...
  14. Thank you...I called and he's there until 6. I had my coffee and let the Tim Horton's kick in. Now i'm just making my approx 1/2 hour wait for a taxi to show up at the university. Got to love city life (NOT). If I can pick up wireless internet while I'm there I'll keep posting on the board, if not then I'll just make a log for myself in OneNote and post it...
  15. OK i'm just at the school. Handed in my final and having a coffee to give me some energy (since I slept very poorly) and then I'm gonna call to the clinic to make sure the doctor is there and then call a cab. I would hate to waste $15 or so and go there if he's unavailable. Keep you updated... ~ Lisa ~
  16. That's the rule when testing for a bacterial infection, also. He just wants to rule those things out so that to have proof that it's something else, and making sure he doesn't assume something extreme and rule out something simple. The problem is I haven't gone in 2 days. May have to just eat some dairy to make myself go by tomorrow ~ Lisa ~
  17. Fiddle-Faddle, I know you didn't mean to call me a liar or a fake or whatever that could have sounded like. I know you were just looking at it from another point of view.. I guess I haven't made myself clear enough. I have had to give identical stool sample for the same testing, twice, this year. Same instructions and everything. There was the rules...
  18. Thanks, fellow Lisa...I haven't gone back yet because I cannot skip on my finals. And they are not there in weekends. These universities don't accomodate for nothing. Sure I'm registered with the disability office, but that help goes as far as my sociology teacher letting me take the exams home for the weekend, or having permission to go to the washroom if...
  19. it doesnt just smell that bad, it tastes that bad! The 2 times that I had to eat regular food for a test (once was for 5 days) there were a couple moments that I nearly threw up instantly. Not from being glutened, but because the bun I was eating tasted that horrible!! I did not have any problems with this until after I went gluten-free. And I have heard...
  20. I suggest you just tell her...I've had to do it with my family and I now learned that because they never listen I simply bring my own food to everything unless I can be guarantee it's safe. A few times I was told that something was gluten-free and it wasn't... It may seem as not the nicest thing to do to tell her she's making you sick, but I bet she would...
  21. I know I posted it somewhere before, but I created a recipe for dressing (I guess in the US you call it stuffing??) that works out to be almost identical to regular one. It rises and everything. If I can find it again I'll post it in here. Otherwise maybe just search for it under my topics . I also have my own recipe for gravy but I dont really follow any...
  22. Yeah they always say "oh it can't be that bad". I'd like to see them try to live on this diet!!! When i smell flour it smells like..rotting bitter food being shoved right under my nose. I think for us people who are very sensative to gluten it may be the worst part about having Celiac!! ~ Lisa ~
  23. Maybe. Still weird that out of all the patients he sees a day at that walk-in clinic he remembered my case and wants to tell me whatever. Still feelin pretty nervous.. ~ Lisa ~
  24. I think it's very possible that you may breathe something in? because I always get SUPER sick during farming, like actually glutened just from breathing in the air that's full of either grain dust or smoke from the burning stubbles. And it's not like I'm sticking my nose right into the grain or eating it! I also get sick when I'm near a bakery or someone...
  25. Ummm yes. I buy it at Old Fashion Foods..cheapest to by the stuff in bulk. And trust me, if there would have been any contamination issues I would have gotten glutened a long time ago!! They sell corn flour (coarse and fine) and corn starch. There's also a brand that you can buy in store, I just don't remember it right now ~ Lisa ~
