  1. i've been on iron pills for a few days now (because of my level being dangerously low). Maybe it is just my body trying to get used to it, but I really don't feel well..I feel warm (which is NOT at all normal!), worse dry mouthed even though i've been drinking more fluids on purpose, tiredness, shakiness, sore stomach, bad "urgency"... Anyone else have...
  2. Okie, so I got a form for bloodwork (to test for RA). He's also going to find the contact information (or a referral) to someone in the city where I go to school.
  3. I'm going home to see my one family doc on monday..unfortunately for me its the same guy who wouldn't explain anything to me last time. Oh well, i'll bring it up anyways. Ask him for a more precise test.
  4. Interesting about your find, mushroom. the thing is that Rheumatoid is very common in my family..i get major inflamation/swelling, and when it hits one side of me it hits the other at the same time. And like I said, I had not had any signs of arthritis since getting Celiac. So maybe the injury was just how it got started it in my back. I've always had...
  5. I haven't had bloodwork done to test for RA yet. I tried asking my one family doctor about it but he didn't understand what I was asking, really. If I ever see one of the other 2 I will get them to maybe send me for that bloodwork. I've always been having joint pains since getting Celiac (which was almost 6 years ago now) and I had basically assumed arthritis...
  6. I need some help in understanding just what can cause Lumbar Facet Arthritis. I've been diagnosed for about a month now and Ive been extra paranoid because I'm afraid of doing something to my back that can make it worse. Do any of you guys have this type of arthritis as well? Is it RA or OA? All that my x-rays said was there's erosion of my lumbar disks...
  7. Today in Geography class, they instructor was speaking about grain production and mentioned how since the Green Revolution the biomass when seeding/harvesting grains makes the stalks smaller, and a lot more of the biomass goes into the grain seed itself. So...my mind instantly thought (and I feel dumb if this has already been proven)...is it possible that...
  8. I need some quick help, guys. I'm going to Minot, North Dakota for a few days on August 6th. I can't take my own food because of the U.S. regulations. So i REALLY need to know where to go that's simple to find, or a list of regular chain restaurants where I can find anything. It's either that, or starve!! And you have 4 days of get me this info...
  9. Alright, I just gotta bump this topic: Went there last week, and WOW. Cheaper than the other health foods store, EVERYTHING in there is only gluten-free, and tons of options! Not to hard to find the store, either. And this may interest some of you others: She said they ship to anywhere in Canada AND the U.S.! There is a website too, I will post...
  10. Maybe this is old news, but I just checked on the website and they say this under the 'gluten' section: "Unfortunately, we don't have any plans to reprint a gluten list in the future. To ensure we provide the most up-to-date information, we advise our consumers to check the ingredient line on the package to determine if there is a gluten source in the...
  11. I know how you feel, too...having health difficulties at a young age is the hardest! Especially when a university student. Rachel's story is like mine. Though I may not be quite as bad, I sure still am making more visits to the hospitals and doctors than I am anywhere else. I too try to avoid eating out, because being around friends who don't...
  12. If anybody from here in Canada buys them, what is the price? ~ Lisa ~
  13. Right, that's the brand name... I forgot I know she told me they were at Costco too, but I dont know anybody with a membership so I kinda blockedo ut that fact ~ Lisa ~
  14. I went to dad's staff party last night, and his wife works at a health food store (they used to actually own one). She gave me a Trio snack bar to try. Not good for those on here allergic to nuts, but they are gluten-free and very healthy/delicious! Apparently you can get them in 2 forms..the bars, and in a bag with small cubes. I'm determined to...
  15. Rock band would be Lifehouse, though country is my thing so that would be Paul Brandt ~ Lisa ~
  16. I think i've decided that if they don't want to listen to my appeal, I will continue to pressure the government with it. Going to the media wouldn't be a good idea in this place - actually not really necessary. In these small towns all you have to do is tell one person and the word gets around very easily and spreads quickly! Also decided that if I...
  17. Yeah I'll have to go back to Regina and get that proof..not even sure WHERE I have that information. I plan to keep raising this issue with the government. The lady who TOLD ME to reduce my course load is the one who sent this letter! I was on probation, but since I didn't take 5 classes she said didn't have to increase it in just one semester...
  18. I'm still too angry to say much about it, but this is ridiculous.. The university I go to told me to do something (reduce my course load so I could have 2 semesters to increase my average), so I listened. It was one of the academic advisors who said it. WELL I got a letter in the mail yesterday telling me I'm being kicked out of Business Admin...
  19. OK.. the thing is that here, if its not by doctors request, even going out of province to see someone would cost money. Its not covered otherwise.. I might have to call someone from the health department of the government and find out how much it will be. I'm concerned because I remember hearing in the news that someone from Saskatchewan here years ago...
  20. By $200 do you mean its what you guys in the US pay to be tested?? Sorry I'm just a little confused and trying to figure out if I can afford any of this. ~ Lisa ~
  21. After being in the hospital for 2 days last week, and without any answer at all (and more added to my "dont have" list) I was suggested by a certain friend from this forum to check out this thread. For what symptoms you listed, I have 32 without having to have a kinda yes/kinda no question about any of those. If I included the iffy symptoms that list...
  22. I can only hope you're right....I applied what we I learned in Business Communications - if it's not written directly to someone who's an expert in the field, DON'T use the technical terms. Sorry if I keep bringing this up, I'm just trying to explain why I don't think I did a horrible job... ~ Lisa ~
  23. Oh I sure used references...I think 12 of them. Most of them in my newsletters or cookbooks, or the allergy magazine. Only a few from websites (which was just the CCA site and CRA). Even the dates and stats are from some of those. She wanted a private issue, so it's what she got. I tried to base it on Saskatchewan's situation, then tie it into Canada... ...
  24. Oh gees...I don't have the time or patience to reply to everything you said, but now I'm left feeling completely terrified my teacher is going to feel the same......if I did bad on this report, I'm very screwed since it's worth 30% of my final grade ~ Lisa ~
  25. Recently for my sociology project I chose to write a 10-page report on Celiac Disease, as my topic for how a private issue has become a public issue. Instead of pasting it into here, I decided to upload it onto my online journal for you guys to take a look at (if you want to)! EDIT: I guess if you want to look at it now you'll have to ask me where to find...
