  1. I'm 18 years old (but look about 13), 5 feet tall and 95-105 pounds depending on the day. I am very petite but sometimes disapproving adults have asked me when the baby is due. I get extremely insulted..not only are they calling me fat, but they must think I'm a slut! ugh I hate the bloating, and nothing I have tried helps get rid of it yet. I wake up...
  2. Did you just throw this together out of your own opinions and thoughts? I would like to see references and quotes before I can take this seriously. It seems like you may have posted this on more than one celiac board, and yet I'm not totally sure what your point is. Donating to celiac research organizations isn't much different than donating to diabetes...
  3. I have weird menstruation..I'm very irregular and often skip a month, but whenever I get glutened i get my period that day, for that day only, with random spotting for about a week after. i can't figure it out! I'm on birth control to try and regulate my cycle but so far it hasn't really worked... Sorry that wasnt really helpful, just mentioning it incase...
  4. I make mine with Koala Crisp or any gluten-free marked crisp rice cereal, and i skip the vanilla
  5. I live with a shared kitchen and never feel 100%, I know I am constantly being cc'd and it's very frustrating. I clean my area before cooking but I'm quite sure other people in the house use my specifically marked gluten free cooking utensils...annoying. I long for my own safe kitchen.
  6. Do you guys buy from bulk food bins at all? The nuts, dried fruit, and M&Ms are so much cheaper... I'm scared that they use flour to stop stuff from sticking, or that the bins get switched around (like a bin that used to contain flour is now filled with almonds). Does anybody have bad experience with bulk food bins? Oh, and I asked the store manager...
  7. I emailed you from d.hoholuk@hotmail.com Devon
  8. I get this all the time, in my left thumb, first and middle fingers. They tingle and then go numb. I very seldom feel it on the right hand but it has happened.
  9. Ugh, I hate Lara Bars. My horse even refuses to eat them..i gave him a chunk once and he spat it all over me
  10. It takes a while to feel better. It could be that you have glutened yourself by accident, either by cross contamination or by eating something you never would have guessed had gluten in it (i did this a lot at the start...) Give it time. If it has only been six days you're body is most likely still adjusting. Drink lots of water and hang in there!
  11. Sorry to hear you're struggling We've all been there. Try and eat whole foods for a while to let your system settle down a bit. I do well on meats, fruits, veggies and not much else. I have a potato almost every day, and rice cakes with peanut butter are my savior. I cannot have soy, corn, or lactose, so I know how limiting extra allergies can be. ...
  12. In my "Rice cream" there is an ingredient called "Organic rice maltodextrin". I thought it was fine because it said rice, but now that I'm feeling very sick within half an hour of eating it I'm wondering if the "malt" part of maltodextrin has gluten in it. Any thoughts?
  13. I'm Devon, 18 yo female Feel free to add me to msn d.hoholuk@Hotmail.com
  14. I'm from white rock, I take the ferry over pretty often. A whole bunch of my friends are going to uvic, so if I'm ever going over I'll let you know
  15. My first venting session...bear with me please! I've been gluten-free since february after being diagnosed with celiac, and I believe I've had it my whole life. I was always, always sick and nobody could figure out why. I was feeling better after finally figuring out the diet change in about april-may, but now I've been feeling really sick again lately...
  16. I'm from white rock, BC, about to move to Kamloops.
  17. I have major focusing issues. And I can never, ever sit still, my legs bounce a million miles an hour, it drives my mom crazy. I always used to get sent to LST (learning support team) in highschool because of anxiety problems and what they thought was ADHD..I hated it in there, I was treated like I was mentally ill even though I had an 86% average my grad...
  18. I have had foot problems for years. I had surgery to remove excess cartilage around my right heel and outside ankle bone, but it didnt' help much. I have been on crutches, walking with a cane, in a wheelchair (the problem is now in both my ankles and knees) and doctors are baffled. They know something is wrong but for five years have sent me to every specialist...
  19. Thanks a ton!
  20. I live in Canada too and was so excited to go down to Trader Joe's..the store manager handed me a thick booklet of "gluten-free" foods...most of which they didn't carry in their store.. It was a really big let down. I did find some good stuff at Fred Meyer, but really not much different from up in Canada! Safeway, Save-on, Choices, and SuperStore have all...
  21. Okay, so I'm new to this forum, and I've found it super helpful. I've been gluten free for 6 months now, and dairy free for three years. Anyways, while reading through this site, I almost need a translator! Here are some things I have come across.. g.f. which I assume means Gluten Free CC..cross contamination? D DD DH ... others? Ex...
  22. I get migraines after being glutened
  23. I'm moving into my new dorm Sept 3rd and I'm so excited about everything except eating. I make most of my food for myself at home anyways, so it wont be much of a change. Hopefully my roommates will be considerate... I always carry food around. Everywhere. Celery/Carrot sticks, cucumber slices, fruit, rice cakes with peanut butter, nuts.. What I do...
  24. This happened to me yesterday! I have no idea what got me, but I was throwing up like crazy all night and this morning I have a huge migraine. I didn't do anything differently yesterday and I'm very careful about contamination.. Does anybody else ever experience a reaction and have no idea what it was from?
