  1. I don't remember the last thing I ate... but after my GI appointment I was very disappointed because I had made an amazing sandwich in the morning to eat on the way home and I couldn't eat it... But the GI didn't tell me anything about the disease (seems to be the running trend) so I just took the stuff off the bun and ate it anyways...
  2. This is interesting to me... last night I had my stabbing pains, throwing up with simultaneous D (pleasant, I know..) and all the other symptoms. I tracked my food back for the last couple days and the only thing new I had introduced what a red wine. I'll have to check the bottle again and see where it was from, but I do recall bloating after drinking it...
  3. smarties in Canada are candy-coated chocolate like M&Ms and contain WHEAT.
  4. I love those brownies!!! I have never had a reaction from them, except I do feel bloated when I get carried away and eat way too many hehe..but that's not a gluten thing.
  5. My boyfriend and I live together, and our kitchen is strictly gluten-free. Whenever friends come over he is the first person to tell them that they can't eat gluten, and beer is only allowed in the living room and cannot be poured down the sink. He does sometimes pick up gluten at the caf between classes or fast food before work, but he always always brushes...
  6. i'm in bed with my puke bucket and in so much pain. but school is over so i'm glad for that. glad to hear you are feeling well though!
  7. This made me so sad when I drove to the US to go to trader Joe's. They handed me a huge list and I was so so excited, and yet barely any of the items were made in dedicated facilities. Shame. The health food store where I live though the staff is very knowledgeable. I applied for a job there and there was a page of questions asking you to describe...
  8. I screwed around a bit because it sounded good but I didn't have the ingredients.. I used Kinnikinnick all purpose flour instead No vanilla or cinnamon, i used honey to make a sweet loaf Added sunflower seeds Crumbled peanuts on top for a sort of crusty topping And baked it in a cake pan because that's all I had! So mine is more of a seedy-sweet...
  9. I love them, I eat the plain ones every day with whatever on them (most of it was already mentioned) And they are my go-to food after being glutened (or when slightly hungover...)water and rice cakes. I ate them before I was gluten free too.
  10. My mom and I have had a lot of the same symptoms for years. I was finally diagnosed with Celiac disease a year ago, and the more I learned the more I thought my mom had it. She went off gluten for a little while (not fully, just cut out obvious sources, didn't care about CC) but then gave up and started eating it again. She is also diabetic. Finally...
  11. That's what is confusing me..I don't really have pain or any of my other gluten symptoms. I have had night sweats every night for around the same amount of time, but I don't see how it could be related..I am passing formed stools, but I will go 3 or 4 days without any bowel movement and then I'll go 4-5 times in the span of like 2 hours.. I guess I could...
  12. Hi, so slightly gross and embarrassing question: Farting has never been a symptom of mine, when I'm gassy I just burp (very, very loudly). The past week though I have been farting lots, but I hold it in until I get onto the toilet because it feels like I have to have a bowel movement, but all that comes out is this yellowish foam...It smells terrible...
  13. You can make rice crispie squares out of any gluten-free puffed rice cereal. Maybe suggest to the teacher that instead of having gluteny foods all the time they could have fruit and veggies? It would be healthier anyways! And then when they do want treats you could know in advance Good luck!
  14. Freybes!!! Lots of variety, says gluten and lactose free on the package
  15. I have an amazing sugar cookie recipe if you want it. I may have posted it here around Christmas time, but if you can't find it email me at d.hoholuk@hotmail.com!
  16. Been gluten free for a year now, flawlessly. It was hard at first, I hesitated at putting ANYTHING in my mouth. You'll start to get more adventurous and creative in your cooking. Are rice cakes available to you? They saved me through the first few months. Rice cakes with peanut butter, tuna, goat cheese, cucumber, whatever else you can think of... ...
  17. Feeling alone in Celiac land, and I was wondering if there are any support groups near Kamloops, I can't seem to find anything on the internet. I'd love to meet some people around Kamloops/Clinton/Jesmond/Merrit, etc.. I don't know any other Celiacs, and it would be nice to know somebody who understands.
  18. I'm 19, been diagnosed for a year now Anybody in BC, Canada? I'd really like to meet some Celiacs, I feel so alone..
  19. I'm very very strict and I refuse to eat at restaurants, the two or three times in the past 8 months I have eaten out I got sick, and that's enough of that. I mainly eat whole foods like meat, veggies and fruit with some gluten free replacements as a treat.
  20. WARNING: the content you are about to read contains whining and venting. Today is my one year gluten free anniversary. I do not eat dairy or soy either, and limit corn intake. I did well for the first few months but then started to feel sick again quite often starting in November. My anxiety and depression have been worse, and I've had some strange symptoms...
  21. Your family believes it is all in your head, yet you have Celiac on both sides of your family? That seems odd and not very understanding! I was "diagnosed" by an allergy doctor, went gluten free for 7 months before my biopsy, so of course it came back negative, so the positive dietary response had to be enough. I do react badly with bits of gluten, so...
  22. So after 362 days gluten free (my anniversary is on Friday!) it's back to the elimination diet...I have been feeling like crap again for a little while. Anyways, I was wondering what to do about toothpaste? There are so many chemicals in it that I don't think it's right to use since everything else I'm eating (which isn't much) is completely natural.
  23. Wendy's chili is a risk. I read either on their website or another gluten-free information site that the chili is made up of the meat that does not get used during the day. If a burger is messed up, they take the patty off the bun and throw it in the chili, so there is a definite risk of cc. I eat the baked potatoes at Wendy's lots, but I'm too scared...
  24. Lara Bars and Glutino Breakfast bars...EWWWW. My horse who loves everything spit them out after a nibble too haha. Kinnickinnick and Pamela's are my favorite brands!
