  1. Maybe it's different since you are a man, but as a woman I haven't found dating to difficult...once I got to know my boyfriend and he learn all about my issues, he has been looking out for me every since. He used to be a huge gluten eater and has cut down a lot, and actually feels much healthier! He is so caring and accepts my "strange" eating habits as...
  2. Thanks, I've always wondered about the best way to "sanitize"..gluten isn't a germ i guess so antibacterial cleaning stuff wouldn't get rid of it? I guess I could wash with bleach?
  3. Hi, I'm moving into a new apartment April first and my boyfriend is willing to make our kitchen completely gluten free!!! Is there anything I need to do before moving my stuff in to clean up from the last lady who used to live there? When I went and looked at the apartment there were crumbs and bread everywhere... Thanks!
  4. I've been riding horses all my life and work with them daily, never had a problem. If the horses are fed grain there is most likely gluten in it, but the only way that should be a problem is if the horse goobers on her and then she somehow gets it in her mouth...just get her to wash should her horse goober all over her..wear gloves when cleaning water and...
  5. I was the opposite. I was a huge kid, got quite fat (okay, huge) around the age of 10 until I was about 13, then started losing weight. I was the tallest in the class from kindergarten to grade 5 ish...then I stopped growing. I am now 5' tall and 95 pounds, and everybody always jokes that I am a midget..
  6. I know, this sucks. The only thing that gets me through it is knowing how sick I would make myself if I didn't stick to the diet. Going out with friends, family, coworkers, whatever is awkward, vacationing becomes difficult...I had a breakdown in superstore the other day. There's not really much advice anybody can give on this subject, but I, and I'm sure...
  7. I keep getting glutened and don't know where. Does anybody ever have problems with Kinnikinnick products or freybe meats?
  8. I'm going there in a few weeks and can't wait to try it!
  9. Got 2 be freeze spray (a bit yellow aerosol can) will hold anything. I use it all the time for dance and theatre, it most definitely holds.
  10. yah im sure wax paper would be fine. I always put parchment paper on the pans to avoid CC so that's what I use, cuz it;s right there!
  11. I posted a really good sugar cookie recipe under the baking section of this site. I believe the thread is called "Amazing Christmas Recipe", but I'm not totally sure. They are super easy to make! As for cake, I like Pamela's but some people seem to have problems with it. Kinnikinnick white cake mix is good too.
  12. It says Cookie mix on it and is in a blue-labeled bag. You could try it with the all-purpose but then baking soda would have to be added and the recipe would have to be tweaked a bit. Good luck!
  13. After some experiment, the recipe is perfected. My gluten-eating friends have all requested that I bring these to every gathering, and many of them took the recipe as well! 1 cup sugar 3/4 cup butter (CF-margarine) 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla Cream the above together, then stir in 2.5 cup Kinnikinnick cookie mix Roll between parchment paper (can...
  14. When I get CC'd I bloat up huge, like I am 7 months pregnant (and have been asked when my baby is due...) The strange thing is, most of the bloating is in my lower left side. It looks almost like there is a small football in the left side of my stomach. Is this normal? I know bloating is normal for Celiacs, but I mean the uneven-ness.
  15. I was watching "Mystery Diagnosis" last inght and the lady had a lot of symptoms similar to celiac, and intense leg cramping. She started eating bananas but it didnt help. When she finally got a blood test they saw that her potassium levels were insanely high, and then found outthat some hormones weren't being secreted. She ended up having Addisons disease...
  16. I was just sitting in class and found myself almost unable to understand what the prof was saying...I couldn't write notes, I would forget what was said almost instantly. I came home and tried telling my roommate but couldn't get through it because I kept forgetting what I was talking about. I now have a huge migraine..is this brain fog? I see the term...
  17. These are the best cookies ever...all of my gluten-eating friends loved them, and were shocked to ehar they were gluten-free! 1 cup Peanut Butter 1 cup Brown Sugar 1 egg 1 tsp baking soda 1 cup chocolate chips, nuts, m&m's... Mix together, put in small-ish balls on a baking sheet, bake at 350*F for 9-11 minutes. So quick and so good!
  18. I always thought I was insanely lightweight...I would puke after two Mike's hard coolers...Thanks Switch2GF for letting me know why! I stick to not drinking, or a gin and tonic. Wine gives me migraines.
  19. I dont understand all the hype about Swine Flu...it's a flu! Just like the flu everybody gets every single year...I had it, my roommate had it, heck about half of my university has had it apparently...we all lived to tell the tale! Most of us only had bad symptoms for a few days, and just stayed in quarantine because we were supposed to. I talked to the...

  22. KEEP READING. It's great that you are taking the initiative to do so. Watch out for hidden gluten such as Malt, and be careful about cross-contamination...new toaster, new bread knives, new fry pans...keep reading on this site, there are so many people that can help you and share your feelings. Feel free to email me at d.hoholuk@hotmail.com for meal ideas...
  23. If there are some allergens listed, the company would not leave out wheat. It is when there is nothing listed that you have to be more careful. Some people eat things that say "may contain traces of wheat"...but trace amounts are too much for me. Good luck, and welcome to our world...
  24. i start off feeling dizzy and disoriented, then i get lightheaded, and sometimes I pass out. Went to the doctor about it and apparently girls my age "just do that sometimes". Thanks, doc. I don't know what to do about it as i am very active and it would be extremely dangerous for me to pass out while horseback riding, especially since I work with young...
  25. Another bitter celiac here...you are right, our lives are f'n fantastic. I try to look on the bright side and just make of things usually, but on some days it;s just like effffff this. Sorry about your repetitive meals...sucks eh? Are there grocery stores around? You could switch up tuna for salmon Or get some rice cakes or turkey or something...eff...
