  1. I thought some of you may be interested in what the resturant Panera Bread has for Gluten Free menu items. I emailed them and this is the response I received. Granted its not a ton of items, but it comforts me that I can still enjoy something there when my family and friends chose to go. Thank you for contacting Panera Bread. The following features...
  2. For those that have done there own experimenting and feel they have a gluten intolerance, how do you explain it to others? After not much success with my doctors in determining the cause of my digestive upset, I've narrowed it down to being wheat or a gluten intolerance. I even glutened myself this weekend accidentally felt the effects an hour or so later...
  3. Thanks for the additional tips guys! If all else fails I will seek another doctor. However, for now.. I'm content with investigating on my own and w/ the help of e-friends! Thanks again..
  4. Llillexx, Yes thats correct, my blood tests came back negative, or rather "within normal ranges". Prior to going to my GI specialist I had taken gluten out of my diet for a week and began to feel normal again and a lot of relief. After reintroducing it to my diet I received the same symptoms. I had already attempted eliminate other foods such as dairy...
  5. Richard, Thanks I'll have to look into those groups! As for turkey, ham and what not.. Luckily, I don't even think my in-laws make that. Somehow I get collard greens and chitlings, things I don't eat either. Ha ha! I guess its potatos, and veggies for me! Good luck to everyone with their turkey & ham adventures. Let us know how your Thanksgiving...
  6. Melanie, I'm hoping this might help but I'm not sure what your grocery stores are like there in Fort Collins. However, I've noticed at many of my mainstream stores (I live in Viriginia) that Kroger, Giant and even Food Lion, seem to have a "h ealth food" section of the store. Here I've found a ton of gluten-free stuff. In fact its cheaper than Whole Foods...
  7. I'm not sure how many have heard of this family favorite of ours but we refer to it as "puppy" chow. (chex cereal covered in chocolate, peanut butter and powdered sugar). But I've tried my hand at a gluten-free version and it turned out really tastey! So for those who'd like a little christmas munchy for you or your kids give this recipe a whirl! (Please...
  8. Sarah, One of my symptoms was Nausea also. I am sure it can be considered one on the list of Celiac. It seems as though children are affected by this disease by getting sick to there stomach. My symptoms would progress, by beginning with Nausea. Any morning I woke up feeling nauseated I knew I ws going to have a bad day. I'd be in the bathroom with...
  9. Kate, Can I be nosey and ask what exactly your resturant cards say? I'm new to being gluten-free and have avoided resturants (except a horrid trip to Applebees). I'd love to make some up of my own, so I dont feel the need to avoid eating out completely! Thanks!
  10. Thanks. I appreciate the reassurance. I knew 5 days wasn't enough to do much, but ooh the misery of it all!
  11. I can't recall the exact brand, but I bought Soy Pasta which tastes pretty much like the real thing to me! I've found it at our local Giant grocery store in the "healthy food" section. Sorry for the lack of a brand name, but I think majority of Giant stores carry it!
  12. As you can see by my tag line I have not been officially gluten-free very long. In fact today is day #5. Beginning Saturday I felt like a new person! No more abdominal pain, no more frequent BMs or diarrhea. I was delighted to say the least and feeling much less crazy! Now I have been extremely careful in my attempts to stay gluten-free with my...
  13. My better half is lactose intolerant, and he LOVEs his Lactaid milk. I think Soy is great though (unfortunately he's allergic to soy). Particularly the chocolate soy, yum. They make great smoothies too with some fruit thrown in! Good luck with your DF /CF experience!
  14. I have to agree with Richard on this. Blood tests can be very useful. Its just things can be missed its a fact. They are not 100% accurate, in catching it all. But they do catch a lot of significant things. Mine personally came back negative, and my GI specialist made no effort to follow-up with me after that. Fully knowing I could have chrons, colitis...
  15. Richard, On a side note, being new to all of this, what is the CSA and GIG? As for the turkey biz, all I know is the best turkey I've had was from a farmer friend who had free range turkeys, chickens and eggs. Unfortunately, not everyone can take advantage of a local farmer like that. In fact since I've moved I've never run into another subsitute...
  16. I just wanted to cconfirm that the Whole Foods distribution is going on in Charlottesville, VA Whole Foods with everything from cream biscuits to pizza crust. YUM!!! I was so excited and I think overstated my joy upon stumbling into tthe rack carrying all of these goodies. Being new to a gluten-free diet this was a true delight! I certainly hope Whole Foods...
  17. Richard, I assume this is a distribution of Whole Foods brand items correct ? I live in Charlottesville, VA and inquired yesterday with the staff, but didn't have time to speak to the actual Bakery. The other staff (cashier and mgmt) wasn't sure, butsaid that the individuals working the Bakery would know the most.. I'm going to pop in today again to see what...
  18. Jules, Just thought I'd try a stab in the dark here since you've been so helpful with my posts! Do you notice it with sugar consumption? Maybe try eliminating as much as you can for a week and see if it improves. (Atlhough I know thats tough already being CF and gluten-free) Would you perhaps really define them as migraines? Caffeine intake? Dehyrdation...
  19. I head back to Michigan in December to spend the week of Christmas with my family. (Yay!) My mom has asked me to tell her what to watch for to be sure she has food items that I can eat. Normally our Christmas dinner contains, ham, turkey, mashed potatos, vegetables, and prepared properly can be gluten-free I realize. But that morning we have a traditional...
  20. Thanks ladies! Ever since my symptoms have arose, I've noticed a change in cycle. Its a relief to discover others have too. Particularly since my doctors could care less!
  21. If you're not a tea drinker like myself, you can always chew or suck on crystalized ginger. Works wonders for me!
  22. Susan & Richard, Thanks. You're right, nothing to lose. I Had just gotten off the phone with the doctors office when I posted that message, so I was exasperated to say the least. I've had other health issues that I've been tossed around with at the same hospital and I think this is the last straw! I've d etermined to go Gluten Free. I did it...
  23. So I've gotten the infamous blood test results back. "All within normal range, everyone, nothing even inflamed" You don't have Celiac Disease. That's great right? Explain to me why I am now on the verge of tears and completely breaking down?!?! Nobody wants this diagnosis. I will take this and being told I can never have gluten again over being...
  24. Has anyone tried a juice fast or a type of "cleansing" for a few days and then continuing with a normal gluten free diet? I know some people recommend fasts, and cleaning out the system. I was curious if this would help with the process of getting the gluten (i.e. poison for some of us). A jumpstart to the road of recovery, even though it will still...

    ARCHIVED Homeopathic Remedy

Startrack, That can be a tough one. I just moved to Virginia recently so I'm pondering wher eto locate them myselves. Word of mouth can be a very useful tool. Try talking to individuals in supplement departments at your local Whole Foods or other healthfood store. Additionally the yellow pages or internet is another good source. Additionally "traditional...
