ARCHIVED Fibromyalgia Or Celiac?
txplowgirl replied to HAPPY DOG SUZ's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Miche, yes I can relate to that. I have hurt between the shoulder blades so bad I couldn't hardly breathe. Felt like someone was sticking a knife in me. Now, when I eat something I shouldn't my first symptom is pain between the blades. Honey, if you keep eating everything that is making you sick you will only get worse. Take a time out and make a list... -
ARCHIVED Fibromyalgia Or Celiac?
txplowgirl replied to HAPPY DOG SUZ's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was dx'd a year ago with fibro after being in pain and tummy problems since I was about 7 or 8 years old. After ALOT of dr's telling me everything was fine or it was all in my head. I finally found a rheumatologist who dx'd me with fibro. FINALLY! An answer or so I thought. She put me on Cymbalta, made everything worse, ok, switched to savella, same thing... -
I hate to say this, but cut out the caffine and cut down on your sugar intake, and eat more protien. The caffine and sugar is causing some of the fatigue. If you can eat some kind of protien snack instead of having the tea that will help, well, at least it did for me anyway. Also, are you drinking a lot of diet drinks with aspertame? If so, cut down on...

ARCHIVED Chronic Fatigue, Any Suggestions?
txplowgirl replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you guys for your support, really means alot to me. Roda, I have a question, Can you find levothyroxine and liothyronine at a health store or are those prescription meds? I've never asked my mom what she takes, she just refers to them as her thyroid meds. I guess I need to ask don't I. -
ARCHIVED How To Get A Partner To Understand And Support?
txplowgirl replied to Quasior's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi Julie, First off, I do not think you are selfish, you are worried about your children and you are also overwhelmed. As for your partner, i'm sorry, but in my opinion he is the one that's selfish. Has he read any of the literature on gluten and it's effects? Those poor children are suffering. I was in a marriage for 21 years where it was his way all... -

ARCHIVED Chronic Fatigue, Any Suggestions?
txplowgirl replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Have you had your thyroid, iron and ferritin checked? Hi Roda, Yes, I have, according to the Dr, my Iron is ok. He told me I was no longer anemic after nearly 38 years. Ferritin levels are ok too. Thyroid is normal also. But I do know that he just checked the TSH not the T3 or 4 because when I asked, he told me I didn't need those. Kind of irritated... -
Ok, I've been gluten free now for 8 months. Everything has either improved or disappeared. The one remaining problem is with chronic fatigue. My Dr says that I do not have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but It sure feels like it to me. There are days I am just so tired I can't hardly move with no reasonable explanation for it. Slept good the night before, nothing...

Lady Diver, I eat Jiff Natural. Ingredients: Made from Roasted Peanuts, sugar, Contains 2% or less of: Palm oil, salt, molasses. Tastes really good. I am very sensitive, can't eat most gluten free processed foods. Haven't been glutened yet. Hope this helps.

When I first started this adventure I was hungry all the time then I started adding in more meat. I've noticed that if I skip a day or so my hunger pains get worse. Also a side note. The gluten free chex bother a lot of people including me. My hunger would seem to get worse after a bowl. Since I quit eating the chex and added more meat my hunger pains have...

ARCHIVED Significant Other Wants To Say Something
txplowgirl replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is Jimmie. Dear Mrs. Fiddle Faddle and FMcGee, I know you guys, you were my second and third grade teachers with the rulers who kept smacking me. Please accept my appologies for the "road splatter "comment. My little Dr Laura does really have my best interests at heart and she is my bestest buddy and she really does have my heart. Merry christmas... -
ARCHIVED Significant Other Wants To Say Something
txplowgirl replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi everyone This is txplowgirl here. I appreciate everyones comments. First off I would like to say to FMcGee. Jimmie was trying to be funny, he didn't mean anything by what he said. There are times I threaten to take a baseball bat to his bald head but he knows i'm just funning with him. He is kind of frustrated because I seem to be on his case a lot... -
ARCHIVED Significant Other Wants To Say Something
txplowgirl replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ladies, thank you, thank you, thank you. You hit it on the head. If I didn't have such a big heart she would have been road splatter somewhere across america after I pushed her out the window at 60 mph. Ladies, I cook for this sweet thing, do you know as a cook, teacher, wannabe truck driver I have created gluten free enjoyable meals for her (not me) as... -
ARCHIVED Significant Other Wants To Say Something
txplowgirl replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ok, i'm not doing well, no one has responded to my request. So, here's my story should anyone care to listen and maybe help...; I live with the Dr. Laura of gluten, fibro, ( I would like to say " sily" celiac, but won't) celiac disorders. I was doing quite well until she discovered she has fibro, celiac, (possibly) and no tolerance to gluten. Now,... -

ARCHIVED Chex
txplowgirl replied to nicole356's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I guess i'm the odd one out. They mess with my tummy. But I guess I am super sensitive because I react to all the gluten free processed foods. Dadgum it. But hey, looking on the bright side, i've lost 30 lbs. Yipee! -
Well, I have a problem with nightshade vegetables, ie, potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant and paprika. they cause joint pain, swelling and fatigue for me. Now I also have a sugar sensitivity and that causes major fatigue, major drowsiness, where I have to take a nap for a couple of hours but no joint pain. All I can say is eleminate the nightshades and sugar then...

ARCHIVED Having Chocolate Cravings Bad
txplowgirl replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone, It's just irritating in a way because I never used to crave chocolate unless it was that time of the month. Now it's every day and I am tired of it and I never thought I would get to the point of not wanting any. I thought maybe there was something out there that would curb my cravings. -
The last month or so I have been having chocolate cravings bad, I mean BAAADD. I have to eat something choclaty every day. I have a sugar sensitivity so I have to be really carefull how much I eat. But, dadgum it, this is getting to be rediculous. Does anybody have a clue as to why this is happening? Is there someting that i'm not getting in my diet? I...

Sounds like you need to give up the dairy for a couple of weeks to see if you have a problem there. I get headaches and some fatigue when I drink milk or eat yogurt.

ARCHIVED Best Dr's Visit I've Ever Had
txplowgirl replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone for the comebacks. Yes I have suspected for quite a while my sweetie has at least a gluten sensitivity. He has seen me at my worst before I went gluten-free and he does believe I have a problem with gluten and he goes out of his way to help me make sure I don't eat the wrong things. He just can't seem to see the need for a different toaster... -
Finally went to the dr and had a good visit. I have officially lost 30 lbs, YEAH! No more anemia, first time in 30 years. Dr told me I didn't need to take iron anymore. When I explained to him I went gluten free he knew about it and he told me if I wanted to take the tests I would need to go back on gluten and I said not no but HECK NO! He laughed at that...

ARCHIVED Fluid Filled & Swollen Knees, Thumbs, Ankle
txplowgirl replied to Beloved's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Could possibly be all the above, but a question I have is. Do you eat a lot of potatoes, tomatoes and/or eggplant? You might be having a problem with nightshade vegetables. Remove all of those for a few days and see what happens. Just a thought. Hope you get to feeling better. -
Hi Nancy I really hope you stay gluten free. Hang in there. I just wanted to say that as a fellow fibro sufferer, I have found that nightshade vegetables cause my fibro to flare really bad in the mornings. I know you don't want to cut any more foods out of your diet but this can definetly help with those morning flares. Also yor RA if you have that too...
