  1. Hubba, Hubba, Hubba! Seriously, I have Fibromyalgia and RA as well as gluten free. I have never had the energy to exercise. After a year of being gluten free, I am finally starting to get my energy back. I am 5 ft 2 and most of my life I weighed 205 lbs. I am losing weight and I now weigh 165. The problem I have is with my middle. I have a paunch that...
  2. Hi there and welcome. Yes, I had the same problem. It took about 5 months on this diet before that resolved. I haven't had a reocurrence yet and hoping I don't either. I found out through the elimination diet that not only does the gluten affect that but it wasn't until I took the soy and MSG out that it completely stopped.
  3. For close to 40 yrs I would only sleep about 4 hrs a night and not all at once. Since going gluten free and taking 5mg Melatonin and 500 mgs 5-HTP. I get at least 7 to 8 hrs straight. 5-HTP helps with your anxiety levels. Try it you might like it. LOL
  4. I consider myself to have Celiac. I have not had any tests but get sick as well as have depressive and anxiety issues when I eat it. AND, untreated celiac can lead to cancers. Seems to me with the family history I have I better stay gluten free. On my mother's side. She just lost her only sister to esophageal and lung cancer three weeks ago, my mom is...
  5. I have fibro too, When I went gluten-free it helped some but it wasn't until I took out the nightshade vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant and all bell peppers)that I started feeling better. They have low level toxins in them that cause swelling and pain. Then I found out that fibro sufferes react to aspartame in diet drinks. So I cut that out plus...
  6. Hi Shirley, Sounds like you may be having some withdrawal symptoms. Yes, a teeny tiny microscopic piece can get you. So you have to be careful of everything, and I mean everything. Especially cross contamination. I got down to the point that when I was making gluten sandwiches for my ex sweetie I would have to wear rubber gloves. Even I thought I couldn...
  7. Lol, I know what you mean. I love my baked potatoes. MMmmmmm good. I took them out for about 2 months then I challenged with a baked potato. Man, oh man, I woke up that next morning and my hands and ankles were swollen, my shoulders and back hurt. That lasted 3 days before I felt better. I didn't have another baked potato until just 3 weeks ago, that's been...
  8. Hi vbecton, I have RA also. I have found with the gluten-free diet it helps some but what has really helped me was getting rid of the nightshade vegetables. They cause a lot of swelling and pain because of the low level of toxins in them. And yes, I have it in my lower back and both hips. Once, I quit eating those I don't have the pain or the little catch...
  9. Welcome to the forums and should I say congratulations? Seriously, Now you will be able to start feeling a lot better. The only advise I can give you is start reading the threads and ask a lot of questions. We'll help you out. Vicky
  10. Jason, as the old saying goes "hindsight is 20 20" I remmeber several years ago I had d several times a day for 2 weeks. The only thing I seemed to be able to eat to settle my stomach was a slice or 2 of wheat bread. But for the life of me I couldn't figure out what was messing with me. Stomach bug or what. Went to the dr but he couldn't seem to find the...
  11. It would take a long time i'm sure, but it would be so worth it. Go For it!
  12. Connie, i've had depression and anxiety most of my life since I was 7 to 8. My head always felt like it had mud in it. That's the only way I can describe it. I could move my head and it would feel like something was sloshing around inside. My vision at times would fade in and out, see spots or bright lights and sometimes I felt like I was moving in slow motion...
  13. Thanks Skylark, I knew you could explain it where I could get my head around it. You are a wealth of info.
  14. It's called withdrawal symptoms. You'll start to feel better then crappy then better and so on untill the gluten starts to get out of your system. For some the symptoms only last a week or two for some two to three months before they feel better. Then on top of it you'll probably find you have an intolerance to dairy and soy. It is usually advised to go dairy...
  15. Am trying to understand the difference. I think I understand that the Methyl B-12( I would spell it but I would have to look it up, you guys out there understand) is better but i'm not sure why. I am finally getting some relief with my ongoing fatigue after starting to take some stuff for adrenals with coQ10, Vit D, along with my B-12, magnesium, etc....
  16. LOL, Sick em, Connie. Good goin girl, been there done that. If they don't like it that's their problem. You have to stick up for yourself and your health because if you don't who will? I have been glutened at PF Changs even after I talked to the waiter and even talked with the chef. So, I stay out of restaurants except for a treat every so often. Hang...
  17. I have always had allergies and asthma and almost twice a year I would get a bad case of asthmatic bronchitis really really bad. Nothing I would take or do would help. I've been gluten free for a little over a year now and that helped quite a bit but it wasn't until I took dairy and soy both out that everything stopped and I mean stopped. When I ingest dairy...
  18. Yes, but just a note of caution. The Chex cereals and the Erewhon cereals are gluten free but with super sensitive people they react to them. I am one of those people
  19. Connie, I am going to be blunt with you. STOP Eating Gluten! Seems to me you are in denial. Your doctors, if they are telling you that it can't be gluten that is causing this then they are also in denial because they haven't learned about any of this because they refuse to educate themselves. That is my personal opinion mind you. But you are doing yourself...
  20. Witin 24 hours of having dairy or soy I will get depression and start crying over nothing.
  21. I haven't found it yet. Please, PLEASE, tell me it dosen't have soy or dairy in it. PLEASE
  22. Hi Ingridbeth, I have fibro and RA, and I am gluten free. Going gluten free didn't totally take all of my joint pain away or help with the fibro or RA until I removed the nightshade vegetables. (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant and all bell peppers.) They cause a lot of swelling and pain in the joints. Once I eliminated those my fibro and RA has eased up a...
  23. "I have been having a bowl of cereal (yay for Chex!) in the morning at least three times a week." Hi Monklady, Just a word of caution. Some of us have a problem with the gluten free Chex cereals. Might be for you too. Just a thought.
  24. Your instant breakfast, is that Carnation Instant breakfast. If it is there are different flavors that have wheat or barely in them. I can't quite remember. I can't use it because i'm dairy free.
  25. Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the thoughts. I guess this has taught me that I can't trust anyone except myself. Also, that I need to be by myself to keep from getting cc'd. After a 21 yr abusive marriage and then this 8 yr relationship. I think i'm giving up on men for a while. Time to be by myself and enjoy life on my terms.
