  1. Yes, I have heard the same gene that causes celiac can cause diabetes. I know that if you are celiac and do not follow the diet then you are prone to getting diabetes. Whether you are predisposed to diabetes or not I do not know.
  2. jknnej-Well put There has been enough controversy regarding this...it's over and done with so everyone let's calm down and get back to what we are here for...to help each other, learn about peoples experiences, and build friendships Remember, we all have different opinions and thats good...just think about how boring life would be if we all thought...
  3. According to the updated Delphi list: All Ocean Spray and Snapple products are gluten free Enjoy!
  4. Do you have allergies you are doing NAET for? This will not cure celiac...celiac is an autoimmune disorder and it is not an allergy and there is no cure for it. The only treatment is with the gluten free diet as of now.
  5. I've been back to normal for quite a while now(except for when I am glutened) I have been gluten free now for almost 17 months and I guess after the 6th month I was pretty much normal. Felt alot better after the 3rd month though The probiotic I use is Kyo-Dophilus....even if you choose against this brand make sure you get one with a dark bottle that needs...
  6. You may be on to something there. That is very possible. I know of a few people who did not have enough acid for the food and that was what was causing the problem. There was a supplement(have to check with them to find the name out) that was given to them and that helped with the problems they were having. Also they were told a pickle to eat would help...
  7. They are excellent for celiacs. Enzymes are extremely helpful for aiding with digestion and really helps your body break down food properly. I use CompleteGest by Enzymatic Therapy And if you are not on probiotics you definitely should be...they help fight off bad bacteria and boost your immune system. They do so much and are just a really good thing...
  8. I'm sure if you can't find any probiotics at stores up there then you could order something from the US and have it shipped. If you can't find the brand of probiotics up there then choose one in a dark bottle that you have to put in the fridge. That keeps the healthy bacteria alive.
  9. I get mine from the Vitamin Shoppe but they do sell them at health food stores too. For enzymes I use CompleteGest by Enzymatic Therapy For probiotics I use Kyo-Dophilus...I like them alot Let me know if ya need any more info.
  10. Digestive enzymes helps your body aide with digestion and the problems you have with digestion. These definitely have helped me out alot. Problems with the digestion process really seemed to decrease when I got on these Probiotics are very essential in my opinion. Probiotic bacteria favorably alter the intestinal microflora balance, inhibit the growth...
  11. It does vary from person to person so there really is not a time I can give you. My symptoms improved tremendously by month 3 and then a few months after that I was back to normal. Juat make sure you are completely gluten free because if not that can hold up the healing process. Have you checked products like lipsticks and stuff you put on your head, face...
  12. That almost sounds like an allergic reaction. Swelling usually happens with allergic reactions. I can't say I've ever had swelling with gluten reactions. If I did it was not noticeable.
  13. Your not a loser. I had the same problem of caving into gluten containing foods at the beginning to. You will get better with it and as Karen said hopefully we learn from our mistakes. Feel better soon
  14. It may be something other then the virus but if it is the virus it may take him longer to get over it. Celiacs tend to have weaker immune systems and when they get viruses they tend to last longer. However, he has been gluten free for a while so I would think his immune system is stronger then it was. Make sure he is getting his vitamins. I would also consider...
  15. Peaches-Being gluten free will alter tests(unless it's a gene test)...when you are off gluten every so often they do blood tests to see if you are complying with the diet. Otherwise, why does damage heal? Certainly not while your eating gluten...it's when you are off of it that will heal it. And same with antibodies, when you eat gluten the antibodies will...
  16. If they were cooked separately then I would think they are fine. They could have been cooked separately but on their website it says they may be cooked with the same oil.I would get the wendys # and call the main office to see their policy on it and see if the fries can be considered gluten free.. hopefully it was fine and you can keep enjoying them ...
  17. Hmm that's weird. I got an email from them and we had called them and they stated they would not hide anything...I wish companies would not have so many conflicting answers
  18. McDonalds fries are the ones that are gluten free and in a separate fryer. I have a list of Wendy's gluten free products and their fries are not on it. If you go to their site they have the ingredients for their products on a note below the fries it says they may be used in the same oil as the crispy chicken nuggets and some other things...I definitely...
  19. -Rice -Jello(Kraft brand won't hide anything so I would get that brand) -Mashed Potatoes and baked potatoes are good on the stomach too -Also as celiac3270 mentioned chicken broth is good(Imagine has some good gluten free broths...they put gluten free right on the package) -Yogurt is also supposed to be good(Yoplait is a really good brand..they...
  20. My cycle has always been regular but when I started getting symptoms at about age 13 or 14 I started getting bad cramps. To the point I could not do anything the 1st day of my cycle..it was horrible. They proceeded to get worse as my symptoms did but when I went gluten free that actually made it better. And don't be embarrassed to ask these sorts of questions...
  21. From what I have heard if you still have gluten in your system this can happen. It could be that your body is in the process of getting the gluten out and it is causing it to get worse before it clears up.
  22. We drove through and they asked if we would like a free frosty but they were like kiddie size
