  1. What is the downside to getting well... or what is the benefit to staying sick? Sometimes we sabotage ourselves without knowing it because we have a benefit in staying stuck. Does being ill give you an excuse to avoid certain tasks, people or situations? If there might be something to this thought, you can talk it out with a therapist. maybe? There is...
  2. I had been thinking about posting this, but was trying to work up the nerve, haha.... thanks for asking, now I don't feel so bizarre! And yeppers, mine seems to be related to gluten and other things that my system doesn't care for.
  3. Others have said it, but it bares repeating... Don't eat something just to be polite, you are being rude to yourself and dishonest with your host who is serving you a meal because they care about you, and if they care about you then they will want you healthy. Next time you want to be polite, bring a dish to help out your host and assure that you have something...
  4. OH how I feel your pain and rage and all those ucky feelings toward the idiot with a piece of paper that says he's a doctor. Good for you for taking your well being into your own hands and getting a different doctor. Make sure your GP hears about your experience so they can stop making referrals to such an incompetent fool, at least it might help someone...
  5. OH YES, it stopped!!!! Thank goodness!!!
  6. Both of the previous posters had great advice! Start with what you CAN have and get the rest out of the house. Spices are the key to having more options. You can take the same pan of zucchini and make it mexican, asian, etc just by changing the herbs and spices you put on it. Ethnic cuisine is fun to look at because a lot of it doesn't include...
  7. Niacin has been of huge help for me. I started with 500mg, once a day and slowly worked up to 4 times a day. The first few times I took it, I had a "niacin flush" which is normal. It feels like a slight sunburn with an itch and it was strangely soothing, lasted about 45 minutes-an hour. You can try googling orthomolecular medicine and anxiety together...
  8. Since it is summer, my typical menu is whatever is ripe in the garden. I juice fruits and veggies for breakfast, have nuts or gluten free muffin for snack, stir-fry with rice or rice noodles for lunch (usually left over from dinner night before), fruit or veggies for snack... In the beginning I spent about 3 days trying to figure out what I can't eat...
  9. Try googling Happy Cow Vegetarian Protein and Guide to get a list of non-meat protein. While you are traveling down the road to better health, remember that it isn't an all or nothing, immediate fix. Make changes one by one. It is ideal to have organic produce, but it isn't always practical when it comes to the budget or your geographic location. ...
  10. How long has your DD been off her medications? It can sometimes take a while for a gal's system to bounce back... with regards to the Birth Control, they often say to stop taking it months before you want to be pregnant, which indicates that it sticks in your system and plays with your hormones for a bit... plus the fact that she is in puberty and that plays...
  11. I didn't try threelac, but I did have die-off issues that were unpleasant. I alternated oregano oil and grapefruit seed extract. I switched every few days between them because I came across information that said some yeast respond to one and not the other and that the yeastie beasties can build up a tolerance, so I did my best to confuse them. I also ate...
  12. When I started the adventure of figuring out what foods are making me sick earlier this year, I kicked it off with the Master Cleanse (lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper concoction) for about a week, then added in foods that I figured would not cause problems, like rice and chicken. The only problem with this is knowing if you have any reaction to...
  13. I think I have been struggling with getting a *label* as Celiac to get my family to take this seriously. So I have decided to go with the following statement: My blood work is inconclusive but it is probable celiac disease because of dietary response. Please get yourself tested as this is a genetic disorder. I'm narrowing down my struggle to my inability...
  14. I am a basket case this morning and I don't know what to do... I started being Gluten free the beginning of June and felt incredibly better. Figured out some other foods that gave me troubles, and started taking a lot of vitamins. I ended up at the Dr at the end of June for something else and requested my chart be updated to reflect intolerances to wheat...
  15. Wow, that is disturbing. I wish I had an answer for you more than my two cents: Send an email saying how lousy that is and cast your vote for a different company that does provide that info by voting with your money and buying their product. Send the good companies emails saying how much you appreciate their efforts to help with the growing population...
  16. Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps - the packaging is wacky & entertaining to read as well... comes in lots of scents and unscented, solid and liquid, to which you can add your own essential oils if you want a custom scent... works well as a soap, shampoo, etc. Pure Organic Coconut Oil - solid at room temperature, melts at body temperature, smells yummy and...
  17. The emotional reactions have been what pushed me and pushed me to figure out it was gluten causing my issues. The joke with my friends is that if they need someone *taken out* to feed me a sandwich, wait for me to nap a few minutes and then set me loose because I get so hostile. My hubby has the patience of Job and just gently exists with me. I don't know...
  18. I have read in many places (not related to celiac) that *they* used to think that the brain never regenerated or grew new cells... now they know this to be a false assumption and that in some cases the brain does regenerate and new cells form. How this relates to any possible damage from gluten, I'm unsure, but it is hopeful to know that it is at least...
  19. Is it possible for you to take a term off from school and get a solid health and good habit foundation under you? There is so much pressure to get into a good school, get good grades, graduate as soon as possible and make lots and lots of money... In my experience, no one has ever asked me at a job interview what my grades were and how long it took me to...
  20. Hello I'm a newbie to the forum and gluten issues. My main question is in bold below if you want to skip the story part At the end of May, out of frustration in being told that my feeling unwell was all in my head (same answer for the last 15 years) and being handed another Rx for anti-depressants, I got down to some serious prayer and asked...
