  1. Michael, You have to try Udi's gluten free sandwich bread. It's the best straight from the bag. Soft and squishy like Wonder Bread. My kids who are very picky and can have gluten, love it and cant tell the difference. They have a dedicated gluten-free bakery in Denver.
  2. I talked to the ordering person at Whole Foods Market this am, and they will be carrying Udi's products nationwide soon- she said it could be a few weeks or a few months, but they are working on it!
  3. The best I have found for a tortilla sub is Sonoma Ivory Teff Wraps- the texture and taste are VERY close to a standard flour tortilla. The brown rice tortillas are yucky, INHO
  4. I just read on a bmog that they will send online orders. Email them at info@udisfood.com
  5. I guess not A friend told me some Safeways and King Scooper stores carry it. I would call your local grocer and ask them to order it. That's what my Whole Foods did, but I think some Whole Foods carry it .
  6. It's working! 20mg amphetamine, 3 times a day and I've lost 7 pounds of water over 4 days. First couple of days I was very hyper, and not sleeping much, but otherwise fine. My tummy and legs are visibly smaller Very happy and so thankful for the help!
  7. I miss Wonder Bread. That is why I am so happy to have found Udi's gluten-free white sandwich bread. It's just like the stuff I used to eat in t'he old days. It's soft and delicious! I had Whole Footds order it for me, but some stores carry it all the time. And you can order online! Open Original Shared Link I just had a peanut butter sandwich and...
  8. I just started keeping a food log to figure out my tummy issues. I've been gluten-free for about 2 months. I can now "hear" everything going on in my tummy. Gurgling, growling, etc. Yogurt in the am caused lots of gurgling, but not when I have it later in the day. Could it be just becase I haven't eaten in 10-12 hours? I eat cheese and have milk in...
  9. i've found several raw/vegan restaurants that I love, not because I am a vegan (I love meat) but because almost everything on the menu is gluten-free, and I don't ahve to ask a million questions. The chef told me that most nuts have phylates (not sure if I am spelling that right) and that's what makes nuts hard to digest. Soaking removes the pyhlates and...
  10. Four times a year for 8 years? OMG, I would have probably ended it by now Seriously though, I've had stones about 7 times. Haven't had any in the last 3 years or so. My problem, I think, was Squirt (you know, the soda?) It has grapefruit something or other in it, and I drank way too much of it. I haven't had a single stone since stopping that habit...
  11. Thanks. I sure do hope that's all it is!
  12. Hi All, I am so glad I found this site. Just knowing there are so mnay others who hae been through similiar experieces is very comforting. I have been gluten-free for about 2 months. I've noticed that it's gotten very noisy in my tummy! For example, I just had breakfast, and within 5 minutes, the gurgling started. Then a growling sound. It's like a...
  13. MALTODEXTRIN was a problem for me in my first month of recovery. Now it's OK. I don't understand why, I merely know it's true. Celiacs is tricky. I am still trying to figure it all out.
  14. I have acrylic, so I am not sure, but my hair! Growing like wildfire and looks fantastic. I can almost see it growing Yeah for recovery!
  15. It helps so much just knowing that I am not the only one this has happened to! Did you find that your level of carb intake had any effect? If it doens't matter, I sure would love to be able to have some! My doc has me on 20 g a day of carbs. It's soooo hard. I have not tried eliminating dairy- it has been my best friend for som long as for extended...
  16. I have not heard of Orthostatic edema before. THank you so much for your reply! I cant tell you how happy (that doesn't seem like the right word) I am to find someone else who has experienced this and actually found a treatment. My doctor actually found a study that said amphetamine might work. He told me to try 5 mg a day, but I dont think he thought...
  17. I was diagnosed in June with Celiac's, after 10 years of suffering. I was extremely thin and malnourished. Not long after I eliminated gluten, I blew up with fluid retention. 25 pounds in one day! Talk about painful!! My doctor says I have refeeding edema. He prescribed a low carb diet and "patience" and says it will resolve itself with time. It...
  18. I was down to 97 pounds (at 6 ft tall) and nearly dead before I finally got diagnosed. What worked for me was peanut butter! It will put some weight on rather quickly. I got in hte bad habit of dipping a spoon in to the jar many times per day. Like a big cereal spoon Now PB is my evil nemesis- I can't stay away from it, but I don't want to get fat...
  19. I was recently FINALLY diagnosed with Celiacs. I was suffering from malnutrution, and was very, very thin. Not too long after I started the gluten-free diet, I got "refeeding edema" and gained 25 pounds overnight. It's been 6 weeks and it hasn't resolved itself. My doctors are stumped and say "give it time." Did anyone else have this experience? If so...

  21. I am curious if anyone else has issues with Maltode xtrin? I get stabbing stomach pains when I have something with it- even when the product says "gluten-free." Thanks Janie
