  1. Right, that's one good thing about drinks is that they are relatively safe from CC.
  2. I picked up the ingredients for sloppy joe tater tot casserole tonight. Yum!
  3. Where do you find pasta in 10 lb boxes?
  4. No, it wasn't a wrapped stick of butter. My kid actually put his hand directly on the unwrapped butter when the butter dish was sitting on the counter. I don't drink alcohol and rarely drink soft drinks. I'm guessing that plain fruit juice (orange, tomato, etc.) should be okay. Probably for more complicated stuff than that, I should check ingredients...
  5. So, I know that many have said that they will sometimes eat before going to a restaurant or bring their own sandwich and just order a drink or something. How do you determine if the drinks are safe or not? Do you ask for an ingredient list from the restaurant for the drinks? I've heard of people being glutened by just about everything on the sun, so I'm not...
  6. I was going to suggest bringing a homemade pizza as well.
  7. As far as pasta, the consistently cheapest option that I've found is non-gmo corn pasta for $1.99 per bag. I've seen it in Sam Mills brand and Meijer store brand.
  8. I tried them and I like them really well. They have a very pleasant nutty flavor to them and they're a nice hearty patty without the usual soy. I think that I'll get them for when I want a treat, since they are a bit pricey. Today I got my kids Subway and when I got home I cooked up a couple of those patties and served them on Udi's buns for myself. Very...
  9. Schar bread has a frozen edition? Interesting, I'll have to look for it. I've found Schar breads for 50 cents each occasionally at the Amish store, but of course that's hit or miss.
  10. My speech has gotten better and my temp dropped, but I still have a headache. Really, really hoping that it goes away ASAP. I really don't need any neurological troubles right now. I'm going to have to modify my kids' gluten challenge. I just can't take unnecessary risks, with my history! No more gluten in my house. My kids can eat bags of glutenous...
  11. That is so cool! I love Kettle brand potato chips. I take it that they must be soy and corn free, in addition to gluten free.
  12. LOL bartfull! Are you the only worker there or do you have employees who bring in gluten free lunches?
  13. Mmmm! This one looks good! http://www.bunsinmyoven.com/2013/08/19/sloppy-joe-tater-tot-casserole-2/
  14. I really want some tater tot casserole. I'm going to have to go get some ingredients for one of some sort.
  15. I think that it's possible I may be been glutened. Yesterday, I got a low grade fever of about 100, a headache, and started stumbling over my words. Today, I still have a headache and am still occasionally tripping over my words. (not normal for me, as I normally talk a lot and don't stutter) My husband thinks that it's just me being tired or sick and...
  16. Irish, I agree on the reviews issue! I actually read a review on one place where the person got regular pasta mixed in with their gluten free pasta and they just shrugged it off and kept eating. So it's good to beware of the reviews written by the fad dieters!
  17. Is this confirmed gluten free? Or is there a possibility of there being gluten from the alcohol in it?
  18. Thai red curry with veggies and rice noodles.
  19. The main thing is to be sure in your mind what you need to do. If you are careful and never cheat, over time people will realize that you are serious about it. My inlaws are supportive of my diet and went so far as to purchase (with their own money) a separate grill for gluten free items only. Some people say that you need to get a DX so that you...
  20. Don't worry about what people think. You can always say that your doctor recommended it for serious medical reasons or whatever. (it's really none of other people's business what your medical reasons are anyway) I say things like, "I have to follow a strict gluten free diet for medical reasons. I'm not one of those individuals on the fad diet. Please...
  21. Even if you never get a formal diagnosis, if you quit gluten and you experience symptom resolution, then you have your answer. Whether it makes you sick because you're celiac or because you have some other issue with it, the treatment is still: Don't eat gluten. LOL! It doesn't make you an "imposter" to be gluten free without being DX'ed as a celiac....
  22. I have a mixed house by necessity right now (my kids are gluten challenging and therefore have to have gluten every day) and I'm finding it difficult. The kids will eat something gluteny and then touch my food so that I can't eat it. (i.e. kids were eating burgers with buns and then oldest dipped her hand into the potato chips without washing hands first...
  23. This would definitely be an improvement over current testing, but for some of us, 3 days of eating gluten would still be too long. With my prior history, I just couldn't take the chance of eating a gluten rich diet for 3 days. I can see the potential of a lot of people getting diagnosed with it, though, especially those who just feel really sick when...
  24. Another idea if you don't want to invest in wheat protein powder is to blend cold cooked cream of wheat into smoothies.
