  1. So really the only purpose of allergy tests is to confirm a known reaction to a food?
  2. Wow, that is some insane pricing! Are almonds just as expensive? Some people have had good luck with making their own.
  3. For those of you wanting to find almond flour cheaper, this place is a good option to order online. They charge just $5 a pound for it. (When my BRM bag runs out, I'm going to order, the BRM is over $10 for 16 oz) It is definitely certified gluten free, they only buy certified gluten free bulk bags and then break then down into smaller quantities in their...
  4. Oh, I wonder if Gordon Food Service would carry them?
  5. No, I haven't. What I will likely do is use 2 cups of my Pamela's Artisan Flour Blend with 3/4 cup of almond flour. One person wrote in the comments that they used 2 cups of all purpose G.F. flour with 3/4 cup of almond flour and that it turned out for them.
  6. It sounds like the secret to their good texture is the almond flour. I have almond flour on hand, so I would like to try out these soon.
  7. I wish that Earth Balance would come up with individual peanut butter cups. I don't eat Jif and I'm not super impressed with Justin's PB packets. They're okay, but I would prefer a cup design.
  8. Yum, I found a dinner roll recipe that looks really good! http://mygluten-freekitchen.com/pull-apart-dinner-rolls-gluten-free/
  9. Yes, I did google it. Oooh, it looks like Sam's Club may be a possibility.
  10. The kid one is really hard. I have a 2 year old and she likes to play "dentist" and put her hands all over my face so I totally get this one. Can you take the toddler to wash their hands and face after eating something gluteny? It's probably good hygiene anyway to wash up after eating.
  11. Does anybody know where to buy mayo packets? (preferably Hellman's) I'd like to have a few in my travel kit.
  12. It is hard, but it gets easier over time. Welcome to the board!
  13. Okay. I do know that Jif makes a cashew butter. Probably they have a separate line for that.
  14. It sounds like you have NCGS. (non-celiac gluten sensitivity) Either that or you could possibly be a seronegative celiac. There are a few people on this board who tested negative on a blood test and positive on a biopsy. If you are not too far into gluten free, you may want to try a biopsy. The standard for diagnosis of NCGS is if celiac tests are negative...
  15. Yeah, the problem with Subway is that they touch the bread and then touch all the toppings with the same hands.
  16. ^Yes. The only possible cross contamination from a PB factory would be from tree nuts, if they made almond butter or cashew butter in the same facility, not from gluten.
  17. Have you pinned down what is causing the sickness from eating with people? Did they touch your plate or utensils with their gluteny hands? Are they touching your plate while you're eating it? Are they touching the bread sticks and using the same hand to pick up a piece of fruit and pass it to you? I went on a mini-vacation and ate at a table full of gluten...
  18. The kids are making a fruit salad. We're going to serve the fruit salad with some coconut whipped cream. The rest of the meal is sweet potato fries, baked tofu, and leftover rice.
  19. I'm going to make some oven baked sweet potato fries. Meijer finally brought back the bags of Earthbound Farms organic sweet potatoes. We enjoy them so much, my husband likes to eat a baked one with no butter or anything, because they're so sweet!
  20. I think that sometimes people also are not educated by their doctor--even if they do have celiac. I knew a celiac (biopsy confirmed) who would happily use shared peanut butter and stuff like that because, "I'm not that sensitive." Apparently his doctor didn't tell him that lack of symptoms didn't equal lack of damage.
  21. Yeah, no doubt, LOL! A good friend of ours says that for me, Cream of Wheat is "Cream of Death." LOL!
  22. Oh okay. Really, I don't care anymore much what my DX is (or isn't). Bottom line is, gluten is poisonous to me and could cause me to get brain damaged and I won't touch it ever again. Good for you for taking charge of your health and doing what you needed to do.
  23. Lab tests are lab tests, but the above poster was gluten free for about a month prior to her tests, which could have affected her results.
