  1. Yeah, my GFS has the 4 lb bag. They are a lot cheaper than Enjoy Life chocolate chips.
  2. I need to find out what implements are available.
  3. I'm planning to take my girls on a Mother-Daughter retreat this year, in October. I've talked to the camp about special dietary needs and they have no problem with people bringing their own food. My girls will most likely be just eating their cafeteria food. What are good gluten-free choices that travel well and are easy to fix, that I could carry along...
  4. Can you clean a used Kitchenaid well enough to use it on gluten free items? I've thought about used, but I'm a little nervous about gluten.
  5. Seems pretty clear that it's celiac, assuming that he had improvement on the gluten-free diet. (unless they think that he has Crohn's or there's some other good explanation for the high Ttg?) I honestly don't get why the biopsy is the gold standard for celiac. It is essentially telling you, "Until you are damaged enough, we won't say that you have celiac...
  6. A gluten challenge?! Are they doubting that he has celiac?
  7. I'm so glad that you're making the switch to gluten free based on your blood test results. Good for you! I'm disheartened at doctors who send patients on their gluten eating way (or give a "gluten intolerant" diagnosis based on blood but then tell them that they can do a less careful version of the gluten-free diet) based on negative biopsy results.
  8. I bought a bread machine and I find that I don't use it much. It's so easy to mix it up in a bowl and I really like the shape of the bread better when oven baked. Gluten free bread requires no kneading, so it really isn't hard or all that time consuming to make it by hand. My next item on the wish list is a Kitchenaid.
  9. How do you find ethanol free gas?
  10. Yep, we don't want anybody else to go through this with the same person, that's for sure. It's probably taken us between 8-10 hours of hard labor to document this person's scamming. In the end, Paypal will most likely cover our loss through their seller protection program and the scammer will most likely keep the phone and run. I would be very, very surprised...
  11. Open Original Shared Link Anybody know anything about these? According to the label, they are gluten-free/DF and they are on Gordon Food Service's gluten free list, but their gluten free list doesn't really take into account CC.
  12. You can get a plug in cooler for $40? I should totally check into that!
  13. Hmmm....maybe they meant that they did a thorough clean up of their cars' interiors and therefore they weren't full of bread crumbs?
  14. I finally settled on a brand of cat food that we like--Purina Beyond grain free.
  15. Thanks for your replies! When I got smoothies at McDonald's yesterday, I did mention avoiding CC briefly and I wondered if I could've skipped that, since a smoothie is unlikely to be CC'ed. But, I suppose in theory if a person handled burger buns and then made a smoothie, there could be some risk.
  16. So, I often hit a grocery store quickly when I need to eat on the go because I prefer to limit eating out. However, often I find that it's a challenge to quickly put together a balanced assortment of ready to eat foods when stopping at a grocery store. Probably my additional food restrictions don't make it any easier. Like tonight, I ran into Aldi...
  17. Do you instruct restaurant staff each and every time about proper handling of your food to avoid CC? Or do you waive the speech in some circumstances? What about restaurants that have an extensive gluten free program and a dedicated prep space and have been certified by the GIG? Do you still ask for special handling of your food each time? What about...
  18. I stopped at McDonald's and got 2 large smoothies today and asked for extra cups, so I could divide them among me and the 3 kids. They were so good! It's nice to have some convenient items like this.
  19. I just spoke with Ebay customer service. I provided them with detailed information documenting the false information and discrepancies that I found during my own search. They are now opening an investigation and starting a process to permanently ban this person from Ebay.
  20. Good job! And yay for store brand pasta!
  21. The buyer just joined Ebay on July 10th. I think that in the future we will mention in our auctions that we can cancel bids if new users don't contact us.
  22. Remember to read the Newbie info 101 info. It gives valuable information on how to do the gluten-free diet successfully, including preventing cross contamination. I hope that you feel better soon!
  23. Oh yes, I love having the excuse! Being gluten-free is a great excuse to munch an apple when other people are having cake, nobody expects me to eat it or gets offended when I don't.
  24. Thank you, thank you, thank you! The encouragement on this thread helped me to finally take action. My son has been doing a gluten challenge since last Wednesday after I called and checked with his doctor's office. My daughter's doctor's office just called and said to go ahead and gradually start her on gluten and the doctor can order the labs when we...
  25. I'm sorry, that sounds frustrating. Have you tried celiac blood testing yet?
