So did you end up getting diagnosed with celiac after the gluten challenge?
-
Did you replace all the scratched up pans and wooden spoons? What about old cutting boards and colanders? Do your pets eat gluten free? Have you checked all personal care products that go in or around the mouth? (lip balm, toothpaste, etc.) Have you checked any medications or supplements? Do you brush and floss before kissing? I think that I got glutened...

ARCHIVED Gluten Test/challenge--Do I Make My Kid Start Over?
BlessedMommy replied to MomProf's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Keep in mind that even if the kids do have NCGS, NCGS is only diagnosed through the process of exclusion. You can't say for sure that they have NCGS and not celiac, unless you've first excluded celiac as a possibility through testing. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Test/challenge--Do I Make My Kid Start Over?
BlessedMommy replied to MomProf's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
As a mom who tried to take her kids gluten free due to bad advice, I highly recommend getting them back on gluten and running a full celiac panel. This year, I gluten challenged my daughter in preparation for testing her and she did fine! Apparently her symptoms were due to something else, because she eats gluten now, and they've resolved anyway. After... -

ARCHIVED Do Your Pets Eat Gluten Free?
BlessedMommy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just out of curiousity as to how many celiacs feed their pets gluten free....not to debate whether your pets should or not. LOL! Also curious to know what kinds of gluten free pet food that people have tried and liked. We're a 50/50 split here....my kitty cat eats grain free food, but my goldfish eat regular fish food. My cat eats the Natural Balance... -
ARCHIVED Papa Murphy's New gluten-free Offering
BlessedMommy replied to luvs2eat's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Happily, Daiya pizzas are now available at my health food store. Most of the pizza places are pretty iffy. There is a place here in Michigan, though, Guido's that offers truly gluten free pizza. They have a gluten free bakery right next door to them and the pizza is baked in the bakery's oven. The other pizza place that I feel comfortable with is California... -
ARCHIVED Why You Should Test For Celiac Before Going Gluten Free - Allergic Living
BlessedMommy replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
Yep, yep, yep! The craze of going gluten free without testing really bothers me. I would've never done it, if I'd known what I know now. And because my reactions to gluten are so severe now, a gluten challenge is out of the question. What really drives me crazy is those who go just "sort of" gluten free, because they think for sure that they couldn... -
ARCHIVED Skwooshi Gluten Free Playdough
BlessedMommy posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I needed to find a safe alternative to trade my kids for the regular playdough that they got for Christmas, so I bought this for them. As it turns out, this is better than playdough! The texture is fun and it's not messy either. And the $10 kit comes with all the utensils to play with it. My kids love it! Open Original Shared Link -

CPK is GIG trained as well. It's quite safe for celiacs if you stick to ordering one of the certified pizzas. -

ARCHIVED Pizza Hut Offering Certified gluten-free Pizza!
BlessedMommy replied to kareng's topic in Publications & Publicity
Wow, wonders never cease! It still wouldn't be any help to my diet, (I don't eat cheese or pepperoni and wouldn't want to pay $10 for just sauce on crust) but that would be great for lots of celiacs! -
ARCHIVED Unusual Question
BlessedMommy replied to Brit1612's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you have unexplained anemia, it is a good idea to get checked for celiac. There are a lot of celiacs with no GI symptoms. -

ARCHIVED Literally Unable To Gluten Challenge
BlessedMommy replied to MycasMommy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think that kids definitely do need a diagnosis. I would make sure that you get them tested even if you have to order the tests yourself and self-pay. It's that important. -
ARCHIVED Literally Unable To Gluten Challenge
BlessedMommy replied to MycasMommy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It does sound like gluten challenging could be a problem for you. My symptoms are partially neurological, so I have no choice but to remain gluten free because eating gluten for 3 months would most likely kill me. When I attempted to gluten challenge the first time, 10 days of it landed me in the ER. I should've gotten tested before removing gluten, but... -

I think that the no egg part would be hard! I'll bet that you use lots of products marketed to vegans. Do you guys use Vegenaise? I hope that your kid gets almonds and milk back, that would open up so many possibilities. -

I'm trying to negotiate with my husband and kids over acceptable alternatives. I'm already on Amazon, ordering some gluten free play dough type stuff to replace some playdough that got given to the kids as a Christmas gift. Anyway, my hubby and kids really like pizza and I'm trying to negotiate with them to find an acceptable alternative that doesn't... -

ARCHIVED I Dont Really Follow The Diet Im Suposed To
BlessedMommy replied to jenniferleigh983's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Do you parents realize the severe issues that can happen as a result of untreated celiac? Did the doctor go over that with them when you were diagnosed? As a minor child, it is their responsibility to take care of you and provide you with safe food that won't damage your health. -
