I have a friend who has a lot of health problems. She has fibromyalgia, multiple severe food intolerances (she gets neuro symptoms from eating citrus), severe anxiety and panic attacks, etc. She was also noticing a lot of stomach issues. At someone's suggestion, she tried cutting gluten out and for the first time in a long time, she could sleep at night and...

ARCHIVED Thermos Recommendations
BlessedMommy replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We love the thermos! It's made my life so much easier to just pack hot food in it whenever I need to pack food to go somewhere. Well worth the extra expense to get a good one! The thermos keeps food hot for up to 9 hours. -
ARCHIVED Do Your Pets Eat Gluten Free?
BlessedMommy replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My cat's coat is really sleek and shiny too! -
ARCHIVED Pre-Packaged Guacamole
BlessedMommy replied to I-want-nachos's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It is my understand that nothing packaged on site at Whole Foods is guaranteed to be free from gluten CC. Whole Foods has a sign on their salad bar stating that they are regrettably unable to offer any completely gluten free options. -
ARCHIVED Question About Symptoms Taking The Gluten Challenge
BlessedMommy replied to littleburgy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you haven't been gluten free for a long period of time, chances are probably better for a diagnosis and for your body to tolerate the gluten challenge. In my case I had been off gluten for several months before doing the gluten challenge. It pretty much sent my body into shock. -
ARCHIVED Question About Symptoms Taking The Gluten Challenge
BlessedMommy replied to littleburgy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I ate loads of gluten foods during my gluten challenge and ended up in the E.R. with severe neurological symptoms 10 days into it. If I had eaten less gluten, there is more of a chance that I could have made it through the challenge. Now I will never have another chance for a DX, unless science advances. -
ARCHIVED Why Why Did I Do It>>?
BlessedMommy replied to MycasMommy's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
It depends on your area. When our grocery store had it, it was around $5 per loaf if I remember right. -

OP, do you have access to Canyon Bakehouse bread? I think that brand is corn free. -
ARCHIVED Tested Positive Aged 2 But Do I Really Have Coeliac Disease?
BlessedMommy replied to Flydigital's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you had celiac confirmed by biopsy at age 2, then you are a celiac. It is a lifelong auto immune condition that never goes away. If you are wanting to gluten challenge and retest, you need to eat gluten for at least 8-12 weeks before taking antibody tests. -
Actually I meant that the current price of propane is great! It was last winter that the prices soared up to $5 per gallon and lots of people couldn't afford to get propane. It's not uncommon for propane to go well over $2 per gallon in the winter, so the current price of $1.70 per gallon is a great winter price.

We had some rougher winter weather earlier in the month and there were some nasty traffic accidents (like a 193 vehicle pile up on I-94). The moral of the story is that if the weather gets into white out conditions, don't bother travelling! Current temp outside is 11 degrees. Propane prices are at an almost unbelievable $1.70 per gallon. Last winter...

Compared to last winter in Michigan, it feels like we're having a heat wave this winter! LOL!

ARCHIVED Negative Biopsy Results.what Now?
BlessedMommy replied to jopan's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I re-read your post and noted that he has low IGA. That means that all the IGA tests will be invalid for them. Did they run a number of IGG tests? -
Hi Nora, welcome to the forum! I understand completely the issue with small kids. My kids are 8, 5, and 2. The 2 year old will put her hands all over my face and even try to play with my teeth! I found that the best way to save my sanity is to either limit their food choices or plan to feed them gluten at a time when I can plan one of their baths...

ARCHIVED Negative Biopsy Results.what Now?

Why was the biopsy considered negative if the villi were flattened and smooth? -
ARCHIVED Low Gluten Flour + Gluten Does Not Create Celiac Reaction?
BlessedMommy replied to pone's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Celiacs need to be 100% gluten free in order to avoid the health complications like malabsorption that come with celiac. Regardless of where the wheat for the flour was grown or how the flour was processed, it's all the same to a celiac's intestine--poison. -
Welcome back!

ARCHIVED Dairy Intolerant...any Success In Adding In Goat's Milk?
BlessedMommy posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I really dislike being dairy free. I avoid dairy because it seems to bother my sinuses. No GI symptoms though. I was wondering if anybody had success in adding in goat milk products if they couldn't tolerate cow's milk. I have a local farm that sells goat milk, goat kefir, and goat yogurt. -
Have you considered avoiding grocery shopping altogether? In this day and age, we have technological advances that allow us to bypass grocery stores if we want to. I get fresh produce and eggs from farms. (I have an organic farm that allows you to pre-order whatever fruit and veggies you want and pick it up on a weekly basis) As far as non-perishables...

Yep! I told the restaurant, "I'm on this diet because I have to be, not because I'm trying to be trendy." LOL!

ARCHIVED Gluten And Dairy Free Sweets?
BlessedMommy replied to Zebra007's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, I love Enjoy Life chocolate chips! I get them in bulk on Amazon--it saves me almost $1.50 per bag less to buy them that way. -
ARCHIVED Mission Brand Gluten Free Flour Tortilla!
BlessedMommy replied to JustMe75's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Okay, so that's why I could find them. -
I have small children as well and find it very difficult to avoid glutening if gluten is consumed very freely in the house. Little kids typically take multiple reminders to wash their hands and face. They drop a lot of crumbs around, touch gluten free food with contaminated hands, give adults slobbery gluten filled kisses, put their hands all over adults...

ARCHIVED Satisfying The Pizza Eaters In My House
BlessedMommy replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I made hubby and the kids pizza with regular dairy cheese on gluten free Chebe crust tonight. They were all very pleased with it and it was nice to be able to give my baby kisses without worrying that she had gluten all over her face.
