  1. It's called Celiac Neuropathy it's similar to Diabetic Neuropathy with most if not all of the same symptoms. But like any other symptoms one may have to gluten they vary with each person.
  2. Could be any of those reasons. Also not all Celiacs can tolerate even gluten free oats. Even for those who can, they are advised to limit their intake to 1/3 cup cooked per day because more than that can casue a reaction just like when they eat gluten. I'd stop the oats for now and see if your symptoms improve.
  3. Toss it. There is no way to get it totally clean to prevent cross contamination from past gluten filled foods.
  4. DH is also known as the skin manifestation of celiac disease.
  5. Yep it's DH. Take an antihistamine, put a Bennydrel type cream on it to reduce the itch, cold works better to decrease the pain and itch. I spray Bactine Pain Relieving Cleansing Spray on mine after I scratch them but it does hurt at first when you spray it on. But it helps to decrease the itching a lot.
  6. Many company's locaters aren't up to date so you may find the products your looking for in a store that isn't in the company's locator. I checked the locator for my area and 3 of the stores I can get the Lactaid Whole Milk are not even on there and those stores have been carrrying for a year now. Just look everywhere you go.
  7. I can get it in NW Minnesota and NE North Dakota (Grand Forks area)
  8. Sounds like it could be Dermatitis Herpetiformis, the skin manisfestation of Celiac. I get that mostly on my legs when I get any gluten.
  9. When my stomach gets bad like yours has been my doc tells me to use a probiotic made for kids. It's easier on the system. This is the one I use Open Original Shared Link even though it states it may have milk residue I have never had a problem with it. Start with a 1/4 tsp once on day one then 1/4 tsp twicw a day on day 2 upto 1/4 tsp 3 times a day....
  10. Also you can try drinking Tonic Water sipping it throughout the day. I have talked with many who swear by it to reduce or prevent problems after getting glutened. Tonic Water contains quinine and helps relieve symptoms. Some even drink it after eating at a restaurant or any place outside their own home where they may get CC.
  11. MimicCreme Open Original Shared Link or Coconut Milk comes in whole fat or Lite. The canned can be subbed easily using the same amonut as the evaporated milk or half and half.
  12. Yes having an illness, any illness can set off Celiac if you have the genes for it. Two things are needed to become Celiac the genes for it and a stressor of any kind to the body. Some women will develop Celiac after having a baby or after starting menopese. Has your brother been tested for Celiac? Many are diagnosed with Crohn's but really have Celiac...
  13. Yes, Celiac can be triggered at anytime in someone's life. Just because the daughter was negative 2 years ago doesn't mean she is now. She should be retested. The son could still have Celiac and should have a repeat blood work as well. Also lactose intolerance should be ruled out as well. It seems to go hand in hand with gluten issues especially when...
  14. Are you sure it was CC? Since you have the same symptoms after eating gluten free foods it sounds more like food poisoning or gastritis. You should get in to see your doctor as soon as possible for treatment so you don't miss more classes. No Pepto doesn't affect your body from healing.
  15. I just ate one yesterday with no problems. I'm lactose intolerant so I took a Lactaid before eating but no gluten reaction.
  16. So Delicious has shelf stable Coconut Milk Open Original Shared Link It comes in Sweetened, Unsweetened and Vanilla. You can always ask your local market to get you some even the Whole Foods should have it when you go next trip.
  17. Glutino makes a Table Cracker that is just like Ener-G's rectangler crackers. Also Dr Shar's has table crackers and snack crackers that are like Glutino and Ener-G's and they are available in the Gluten Free Mall. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Ema
  18. No the lengths we go to for others never is returned to the same extent. Sister #2s Vegetarianism is voluntary but your gluten intolerance isn't. If you can go to the extent to accommodate her voluntary choice she can at least read the label on the stock so she could tell you if her soup would make you sick. As for not wanting to get tested because she...
  19. Bob's Candy Canes were gluten free last year. They say gluten free on the bag usually on teh back around the nutritional information.
  20. Yeast overgrowth is common with some who are gluten intolerant. Also lactose intolerance and fructose intolerance are common. And they can be the culprits of your continuing symptoms as they feed yeast. I had a yeast overgrowth problem before I found out I had Celiac as well. I took Diflucan for months and Nystatin as well for years with not much improvement...
  21. Sounds like one of the skin pricks the allergist did was for a gluten allergy and it came out positive. That's how I found out I had Celiac. I was tested and found allergic and with more tests found out it was Celiac.
  22. Check and see if there is a Celiac Support Group in your area. Contact them and let them know your situation. They maybe able to provide someone who can help you with babysitting and since they already know the diet ins and outs you will know your child is safe. There are also groups called R.O.C.K. (Raising Our Celiac Kids) for parents and kids with Celiac...
  23. No restaurants are not required by law to provide allergen information. Many have made up their own "books" and allergen lists. Since Pizza Nova had the information on their website it would have been nice if they had some hard copies in the restaurant for patrons like some places have. Maybe you could mention that to the Manager in a note or email to have...
  24. Yes, yes very much yes. I had all the symptoms you are having before I went gluten free. And I get nasuea when I get any gluten now.
  25. It fine to use it after the expiration date. Many bakers store it in the freezer in a ziploc bag, this keeps it fresh forever.
