I had a hysterectomy in 2001..I still have my ovaries though. I still get one pimple on my chin every month, and I get real teary and sensitive too. it does seem to be worse at the same time each month. Nothing seems to have changed for me. I might add that there's a lot of stress and tention in my life in connection with my grown children.

I go to a Australian made Pentecostal church similar to Assemblies of God. We have individual cups and a plate of wafers which are brought around. If I remember, I take my own gluten-free wafer, other times when I forget, I take one from the plate, and then give it to my hubby. The Pastor is very understanding and most of the congregation know I'm celiac...

ARCHIVED Bloating
Maggie1956 replied to Karina's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm not sure if I can help you Karina, but I've found for myself, some combinations of foods cause bloating. Yesterday I had two rice crisps with butter and cheese. Afterwards, I was in a bit of pain and looked like I was about six months pregnant. Apparently it's fairly common to get bloated from other things which you may be a bit sensitive to ( I... -
I've been wondering if the weird/bad dreams are related to sugar and/or gluten intake?? maybe there is a connection somewhere, that we've 'poisoned' our systems, and our brains can't cope wit it. Just a thought.

ARCHIVED Blurred Vision / Dizzy
Maggie1956 replied to KLTerry's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I get blurred vision, dizziness, plus I find it hard to concentrate. It happens often, and I haven't found a real pattern to it yet. I'm thinking it may mean that I've accidently glutened myself. I've been tested for diabetes and hyperglycemia a couple of years ago. Both were negative. -
ARCHIVED Comprehensive Questionare-1 Of 2
Maggie1956 replied to red345's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Red. I'll try to answer your Qs as well as possible. Here goes.... 1. No medication at time of onset. I think I've had symptoms all my life. I was born is 1956. 2. As a child, I got a lot of flu-type symptoms and asthma. Mum gave me Benadril Expectorant to clear the chest cold. 3. Rice, cheese, peanuts, capsican (peppers), onion, cabbage... -
ARCHIVED Chronic Fatigue Disease+cd
Maggie1956 replied to chronic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also have chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, hypothyroid. I also had a histerectomy three years ago, partly because of endometriosis. So far, my energy level hasn't changed, but I've only been avoiding gluten for around two months. So it's early days yet. I hope you're feeling better soon. -
ARCHIVED Genes -- Are You Cd Positive?
Maggie1956 replied to Professor's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Umm...well my blood test came back positive. So did my biopsy. Is that what you mean? I'm really quite uneducated, when it comes to all the medical terms. Cheers -
ARCHIVED Yellowish Teeth
Maggie1956 replied to paradise2004's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've had yellow teeth all my life too. I'm almost 49 now and I've been gluten-free for only a month and a half. Yeah, i agree that we are pre-disposed to teeth and enamel problems due to not having good nutrition. I'm hoping to get my teeth whitened by the dentist. -
ARCHIVED This Gene Is Inherited From Where?
Maggie1956 replied to azedazobollis's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Jill, that's the way it is for me too. I've cut down to just one mug of instant coffe a day. Thanks for the info. -
I've been having really vivid dreams for at least a couple of years. They are often about me having terrible arguments with my parents (who are both now deceased), other members of my immediate family, or even worse, dreams involving the father of my two adult children. The ones involving the 'mongrel' are by far the worst. It was a very violent...

I recently found out I have reactive gastritis when I had my endoscopy done. Wow! It's scary to think that it can turn cancerous. I just assumed it was not too important, but like a pre-curser to celiac disease. Thanks for this thread.

Hi Dizzy. I was about to ask the exact same question. Also, does anyone know if this test is available outside America? I'm in Australia. -
Hi Mballerina. You said that you love sevia? What does it taste like? is it similar to sugar in taste, or really different? I really have trouble when I eat potato and stuff like it...the group of food includes tomato, chilli peppers, eggplant....but i can't think of the word for it. I get cramps from potato now, which I never got before, so I...

That IS interesting! I haven't ever been able to eat chilli peppers or capsicum. I know if I eat too much tomato it tends to cause me some discomfort. Potato has also recently shown itself to cause abdominal cramps too. Thanks so much for the info.

That's a really good point Barbara. I have fibromyalgia in most of my body, and it flares up a lot. I'll have to try and track it. Maybe write it in my food journal evenrytime I ache, and work out what I've eaten. Then I might be able to tell if there is a link between what I've eaten, and the pain happening. Hmmmm? Interesting. I bet the sugar...

Hi Sophie, I haven't used sevia myself, but my best friend (a diabetic) has used it and said that it was ok, but a bit different in taste. It's been recommended by a guy here in Queensland, Australia who runs a gym, and does health seminars too. Yes, it's true that you only need a very small amount. This man was saying that to dip the...
