  1. We've had DeBoles, and it is pretty good. But, if it isn't a lot of trouble, I'd drive to the health store to get Tinkyada.
  2. We've eaten at Carl's Jr. (Hardees), and have never had any problems with the lettuce-wrapped burger and their fries. We always ask about the fries, just to be sure. We also like Wendy's and Steak 'n' Shake. McDonald's is also acceptable, but is usually the last resort. We've also eaten at Diary Queen; as long as they know you have an allergy, they are...
  3. Chick-Fil-A will be opening a new restaurant on my side of town. I heard there are gluten-free options available. What has been your experience with Chick-Fil-A?
  4. I think you need to slap them with the Americans With Disabilities Act! If people have special needs, including diets, restaurants have to accommodate them.
  5. We think Angry Orchard is pretty good. Have you tried Woodchuck's other flavors? They have Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter varieties, which are quite tasty. I'm not a beer fan, but I will drink these.
  6. I would call it American food. Hubby had the Simply Salmon over white rice, and then they added some seasonal fresh fruit. This particular Granite City has always had good service and if anything was wrong, the managers themselves corrected the problem. I guess it is different with franchises. We go to Iowa City every once in a while (Coral Ridge Mall...
  7. I'm looking at Wisconsin Dells as a close-by vacation option after things settle down after our daughter's wedding. Husband is gluten intolerant. I'm looking at places with kitchens so we can have safe breakfasts, but I don't want to cook everything if I can avoid it. If I have to, I can look each place up and e-mail, but if someone can help, that...
  8. Granite City in Cedar Rapids, Iowa has a gluten-free section on their dinner menu. It's only 5 items, but since we don't go there much, it's enough of a variety for my hubby. I don't know if their other locations have a gluten-free section. It's on the dinner menu only, but hubby was able to order off the dinner menu for lunch. AND...we did not get the...
  9. We were in Estes Park last September/October and Mama Roses had gluten-free pasta for almost every pasta dish. Hubby said it was delicious and had no reaction. Poppy's is located next to Mama Roses and they offer a gluten-free pizze (crust is made from zucchini, I believe). Also deemed delicious. There is also a breakfast bar place (cannot recall the...
  10. Does anyone have a good gluten-free beef stew recipe? I want to make something "special" for St. Patrick's Day, and just don't want to throw a can of Dinty Moore stew into a pot. Thanks!
  11. We were there last September/October for vacation and loved Estes Park! We agree on Poppys and Mama Roses - they were great places to eat. There is also another place that has a breakfast bar which includes gluten-free cereal, but I cannot remember the name. We rented a cabin so we could cook our own food, and we ate our lunches in RMNP.
  12. We've eaten at Red Lobster several times and hubby has not had any reactions. He always gets the fresh fish oven broiled (on aluminum foil), a baked potato, and a salad with no croutons or dressing (we bring our own). I'll be looking to see if they come out with a gluten-free menu. From my research, most of the gluten-free items will probably be shellfish...
  13. We go there quite a lot for lunch. Yes the protein-style burgers are messy, hubby just ends up eating it with a knife and fork. The fries are fried in a dedicated fryer, BUT, the manager told us if they get busy, they may use the dedicated fryer for other things. That is why we go to lunch at 11:30.
  14. Thanks for the info on their not shipping the pie crusts. Husband really liked them - said it did not taste/feel any different from regular pie crust. I really hope that can get their distribution issues straightened out. I'm lucky that our local grocery stores are very good about having a good variety of gluten-free products. Most of them have complete...
  15. We have had very good luck at the Texas Roadhouses we have visited. Husband has never had any reaction. Now, we do make a point of "helping" the server understand what we need for almost any restaurant we visit, and sometimes that "help" does involve talking to the cooks.
  16. The stores here in my area have been out of the pie crusts for quite some time. The Nutritionists in these stores are telling me they are ordering them, but they have been on back order for some time, something about a "manufacturing issue." Geez, they should have anticipated the overwhelming response to their pie crusts! I have one left in my freezer...
  17. That's the one! Thanks so much!
  18. I remember seeing an ad for a gluten-free ranch somewhere near the Tetons in Wyoming, but cannot remember the name of the ranch. Any ideas? How about any experiences with all-inclusive resorts? If we have any money after my daughter's wedding, I'm planning to treat us to a nice trip!
  19. Hubby loves them as well, but they always seem to be sold out! Same thing with the Kinnikinnick (sp?) frozen pie crusts! I'm almost to the point of ordering on-line just to get them!
  20. I didn't know Sweet Baby Ray's was gluten-free! May try it again. We use Cookies BBQ sauce since it is gluten-free (says so on the label), and hubby has not reacted to it.
  21. I've not purchased Udi's buns in a while, but will do so again based on your observations, just to see. I picked up some Schar rolls (which can be sliced and used for hamburger buns), and they have improved some. Still not quite there yet.
  22. Tried their frozen pie crust and, with the exception of my messing up the top crust a bit, it turned out very well. Baked celiac hubby's favorite - cherry pie and we could tell no difference in taste. Also tried Glutino's new Genius bread. According to hubby they are "getting close" to regular bread taste and texture. Still have to toast it unless I...
  23. Thank you, GFreeMO!
  24. Does anyone have the recipe for gluten-free Chex Mix pie crust? I'd like to make one for our big Thanksgiving gathering. Thanks!
  25. We stayed in Estes Park for a couple of days last week. There are a couple of gluten-friendly restaurants in Estes Park, and we had good experiences with both of them. Poppy's Pizza offers a gluten-freen pizza. The crust is made from zucchini. Roger had a pepperoni and canadian bacon pizza and said it was great! Mama Rosa's offers gluten-free pasta...
