  1. See how your knuckles are a bit "bobbely" for want of a better word? That may or may not be arthritis - you need a rheumy!
  2. They won't affect the test. With your list of symptoms I wouldn't be surprised if it was.
  3. Not sure - but I do know that all primo products are 100% gluten free! I rang them and asked!
  4. I actually have two kids going through this stuff at the moment. They both had biopsies - the younger one border line and then other negative. The eldest (negative biopsy) became so anemic he developed a heart murmur, struggled to breathe, couldn't walk, fell over all the time...was awful..low vitamin K, Zinc, and D. They both have gastritis with no obvious...
  5. My little one ended up being negative for CF too- but he is gluten-free since Jan and still has completely undigested meals in his stettorhea stools, oily, mucous - ugh! He is a twin and his brother is grown at a healthy weight and he is just getting further and further behind in every way. Height, weight, speech development, he bruises really easily, has...
  6. As some of you know my reactions include intussusception its kind of considered a miracle that I've had it four times and each time it resolved on its own. Usually you have surgery and they remove part of your bowel I find it hard living with this constantly over my head. The last time I ate a lot of gluten I had it...I don't tend to get it due to contamination...
  7. The other thread about worse reactions a few weeks after gluten free got me thinking. Has anyone been badly glutened a year plus after going gluten-free and had more severe symptoms than before? My GP said that my reaction probably wouldn't be as bad as last time because I have had time to heal. The last time I ate gluten was 6 weeks after going gluten free...
  8. Could it be something else? My eldest has been gluten-free since December his stool and malabsorption seemed to have resolved but his severe gut pain never did - a biopsy found it was gastritis, the Dr said overproduction of stomach acid leaky gut etc. The medication he was originally on cause psychiatric problems in him and I found out that it was not uncommon...
  9. oh the joys of autoimmine disease! Negative isn't always negative if you know what I mean. For example the blood tests for SJogrens -only about 60% of patients show up in those...whereas its about 98% for lupus!
  10. Mine don't swell and aren't red either....but I still haven't gone into remission after 9 months.....arrggghhh
  11. This sounds familiar to me - I have life threatening issues with gluten and my gastro wants me to do a challenge - my GP is dead against it and says that a diagnosis is not worth dying for! I know that its to satisfy my GI's curiosity about it. Nice to know right?? I've currently got two kids gluten free who haven't got official diagnosis. Crohns has been...
  12. Yes gluten free kitchen, its just not worth the risk.
  13. I hear ya, I wouldn't have stuck with the diet unless I had the intussuception - seriously. All the other symptoms I could deal with - now I'm just too plain scared to eat gluten again.
  14. I did them years ago - they were negative and I was also told that I was negative for the celiac genes therefore case closed, done and dusted as far as Drs were concerned. The I started getting intussusception and I was referred to a Gastro and everyone was a bit like WTF...I was also seeing a rheumy for other autoimmune symptoms. Anyhow I became pregnant...
  15. Hi, I didn't get the biopsies and really wish I had. Even though everyone is sure I have it I can't get an official diag and I hate that! If I had my time over I wouldn't have just gotten the endo and be done with it. My symptoms have turned severe and I can't do a challenge even though I want to. Doh!
  16. Also would an official diagnosis help you stick to the diet better? Or would you keep falling off the wagon if you didn't really know? I'd get tested as well.
  17. A Rheumy is your best bet I reckon...because you are celiac it means that you have a high chance of other autoimmune diseases. (I have two including celiac and about to be diagnosed with another) Your symptoms sound similar to mine ( I am 33 and mine started showing up at 28) If it is some kind of connective tissue disease - the sooner you get onto the better...
  18. Thats right. You have one of the celiac genes - same one as me, but that doesn't mean you have it- just that you can potentially get it...although with your symptoms I would be asking for celiac testing. When you say low gluten - how much gluten do you eat do think?
  19. Now that I look back I probably had symptoms my whole life, awful growing pains and a 'weak stomach' as a child and then when I was older around 21 I started getting this thing when I ate 'stodgy food' - which I know realise was wheat, where I would get this mucous thing happening so bad that I couldn't swallow and then all this mucous would just come pouring...
  20. Are you sure that you don't have another autoimmune disease as well? Might be time for you to see a rheumy. I have both neuro (brand new symptoms- yayy! Not) and joint issues/arthritis for years that seem to be some kind of connective tissue disease. I was so excited going gluten free because I thought I might go into remission with that stuff...Sorry to...
  21. Sometimes with coeliac because the villi are damaged you can develop lactose intolerance. There also seem to be a fair amount of coeliacs who can't tolerate any dairy and things like nightshades and corn etc - it is never ending. Also - some people have like a gluten withdrawal where they feel worse for a while until they feel better. Its a mindfield!...
  22. Coles has a bigger range but Woolies is catching up too. I quite like the macro gluten-free range and they are sold at woolies. You should think about becoming a member of the coeliac society. You get a members card for coles where you get 20% of chosen products each months. Plus they send you a cookbook, plus a monthly magazine, plus you get to see...
  23. And there lies the real pain with celiac. Some people have loads of symptoms, some have none. some have weird ones you'd never connect with food. Ahh the joys of gluten!
  24. We can still eat snickers most cadburys choc and most magnums if that helps? That helps me get through the dark times
