Atkins's power bars are gluten-free? I've been looking for some gluten-free power bars, but haven't been able to find any, so I'll be sure to look for Atkins next time. Thanks for the tip.

I'll probably never paint another patio. Crawling around on my knees for hours is not exactly a pleasant experience...especially in the TX heat. I imagine the heat is even worse in AZ!

I'm usually a stickler about not cheating on the diet even though I never had any really terrible reactions. But a couple of months ago I went to a tea that a friend had for the ladies at church. Of course, tea sandwiches were served. Lots of different kinds of yummy things on little tiny pieces of bread. I love that kind of stuff. I didn't want to NOT...

So what's up with that? Who wants to rate someone else's blog? What are we supposed to do...indicate that someone's blog is terrible? Or compare it to everyone else's blog and indicate that one is better than all the others? If you ask me, that feature should disappear. In fact, I'm on a mission to find out how to get it off my blog.

Continuing Gluten Free...one Week Now
Mosaics commented on marshlakemomma's blog entry in marshlakemom's Blog
That's interesting about the tryptophan, I'd never heard that. I wouldn't expect your sleeping problems to clear up quickly. You may have to wait for your intestines to heal before you start absorbing the nutrients you need or you might could get injections. My daughter had problems with insomnia and fatigue. We discovered through a blood... -
That was very sweet for your coworkers to do that...and to even go to the trouble of finding a gluten-free cake recipe and buying special flour...Wow!

Length Of Recovery And Today's Doctor Visit
Mosaics commented on mouse's blog entry in armetta's Blog
I would say, "surely your doctor has tested for this already," but as we know, sometimes docs don't think of everything ...anyway, has your B12 level been checked? My daughter was very fatigued for a long time. That's not normal for a 21 y.o. so the doc ran blood tests and discovered that her B12 was dangerously low...the lowest he'd ever seen. He... -
Lindy, how interesting that you teach swing. That must so fun. My husband and I have recently taken some ballroom dance lessons...eight so far. I had never danced in my life (for religious reasons) except around the house by myself. I found that I'm pretty good at it. My husband...well, my husband is not. So I find it nearly impossible to let him...

Thanks Lindylynn. Oh, in case you didn't see my other response to you, my dog is a Maltipoo (half Maltese/half Poodle). It was lots of trial and error to post pics. I learned how to post them at another site that I frequent, so, although each site is a little different, that made it somewhat easier to figure this one out. First I tried using the...

I must lead a pretty dull life. I blogged for two days and ran out of things to say. I told my celiac story, so maybe I'll tell a little about my life...well my blog is supposed to be all about me, right? I'm a 45 year old married SAHM of two children...21 y.o. daughter and 16 y.o. son and I'm a Christian. I'm also an artist and I love to...

Thanks Jonesy, I'll have a look at that.

Wow, after reading a few blogs here and the suffering that so many celiacs have endured, I realize that I've had it easy!I have a very close family friend that had a mental breakdown when he was in his 50's. He was subsequently diagnosed with celiac disease so that's how I became familiar with the disease.Fast forward about 12 yrs. later and I happened to...

It's Sunday. We just got back from worship services then eating at our favorite Indian food restaurant. Thankfully, most of their food is gluten-free. About the only thing we can't eat there is their wonderful flat bread (nan and roti). Oh, how we miss it!Lindylynn asked me what kind of dog Pearlie is. I'm not sure how to respond to her comment on my...

Taking B12 may help with your fatigue. My 21 year old daughter was chronically fatigued. We finally had her blood tested last year and the doctor said he'd never seen such a low B12 result. He gave her a series of B12 shots that helped immediately. Now she takes a maintenance dose orally. Remember that the gluten has been inhibiting your nutrient...

I guess I'm a geek for replying to myself, but I'm doing it to see what my page looks like and if it's long and narrow, I'd like to find out how to widen the page.

I don't think that gluten can hurt a celiac if it's not ingested. After all, the gluten works on the small intestines so if it isn't put into the small intestines, how could it do any damage? However, I do have a celiac disease friend that has all kinds of skin problems (including dermatitis herpetiformis). IMO, his skin allergies stem from...

Hi Lindylynn. I also have arrived and have created my first blog. And what a lovely writer you are, too. It's hard to understand why some family members won't get tested even though celiac disease symptoms are causing debilitating illnesses, isn't it?
-
Yes, Namnammo, I've heard of that. Oddly enough, my step mother-in-law has celiac disease. She is acquainted with the researcher who really brought celiac disease to light in this country. He said they are working on such a pill and making headway. It won't be ready soon, but should be out within 10 years. I'm hoping it'll be sooner.

I have celiac disease and so do both of my children. My daughter, who is 21 now, has had problems sleeping for years. I suggested melatonin and it seems to work well for her although it hasn't alleviated the problem altogether.

Hi everybody. I'm just learning about blogs and trying to figure it all out. It's funny because my husband and I were talking about blogging last night and he asked me if I'd like for him to set up a blog for me (he's a computer genius ), but I said, "What would I have to talk about?" Then, lo and behold, this morning I got a message from celiac.com...

ARCHIVED What Exactly Do The Symptoms Mean?
Mosaics replied to roddi's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My children and I were diagnosed about 18 mos. ago and have been gluten-free since then. I've found that I learn something new about celiac disease almost every time I read on this board. One of the things I learned from reading this thread was that the morning sickness isn't unique to me and is just another strange symtom of celiac disease. In high... -
ARCHIVED Getting Celiac At A Later Age
Mosaics replied to McDougall's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Cdford, several of my family members have celiac disease also. Some of them have gladly been tested. My younger sister, who has more symptoms than any of us, held out for over a year. She didn't want to know. She finally got tested and her blood tests came back negative. Now she thinks she's home free even though she was diagnosed with RA by age 36,... -
ARCHIVED Getting Celiac At A Later Age
Mosaics replied to McDougall's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't know exactly what it means. I just happened to be reading on a celiac diagnosis site and that was one of the symptoms it listed. When I mentioned it to a friend who also has celiacs, he said it was some kind of vitamin deficiency, but didn't know which vitamin. -
ARCHIVED Getting Celiac At A Later Age
Mosaics replied to McDougall's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was going to say the same as some of the previous posters did...you are born with celiacs, but it often doesn't manifest itself until you are much older. And it is usually triggered by an injury, trauma, or surgery. I am 45 and was diagnosed about 18 mos. ago. Fortunately, I hadn't had a "trigger" and I didn't suffer for years with anything. My story... -
ARCHIVED Prep Before Colonoscopy?
Mosaics replied to Corihere2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've had 2 colonoscopies. The prep was the worst part. I couldn't drink all my stuff 'cause it made me want to puke. The actual procedure was a breeze, though. Thankfully, I slept like a baby through it all. I would have been terribly humiliated if I were aware of all the goings-on back there I scheduled mine for the first thing in the morning...
