It's an established fact. Cell phone companies only hire morons. Non-morons need not apply. I won't say I'm sorry to any phone company employee that may be reading this. Every last one of them is a moron. If it isn't true...then prove it...act like you have a brain.Early this summer we went to get a cell phone for our son. I must preface this with: ...

My son bought the lawn mowing business. Well...my husband and I loaned him the money for it. He's been working hard already contacting customers, becoming acquainted with the equipment and getting it all ready to go, setting up his schedule, etc. I think he'll be going out to mow for the first time tomorrow. I'm excited for him since this will probably...

Well, IMO, it only stands to reason that the depression would be caused by a chemical imbalance. That's what celiac disease does...prevents the body from absorbing the nutrients we need, which in turns causes chemical imbalances. Of course, not every celiac gets depressed, but it is certainly a reasonable expectation. I can't say that going gluten-free...

I just read all of your blog entries. Wow, you've had a hard life. I'm sorry for that. Hearing about your trials should made a lot of us stop whining about not being able to have a piece of bread. I just wanted to comment on your childhood depression. You probably already know this, but celiac disease can cause depression and suicidal thoughts. I mean...

Wow, my picture made the screen so wide that I can't see the whole thing. I'm still bothered by my neck, although it's quite a bit better. I went to get my hair cut today and the lady who washed it took forever. I don't know what she was doing, but it wasn't helping my neck hanging backward over the sink like that for so long. I ordered some Chebe bread...

Yeah, this site (celiac.com) has lists that you can purchase, too. I thought you wanted free stuff (like I do). Go here if you want to pay for mega lists: I carry a PDA with me everywhere. I put the "safe" and "forbidden" lists in it. I've pretty much memorized what I can't have, but it was very helpful in the beginning when I went grocery shopping...

Yeah, non-celiacs usually don't get it. If we say, "I can't eat the rolls because they have wheat in them." they say, "Well, how about a whole wheat roll then?" **sigh** Or, "Oh you can eat just this little bit, just this one time, it won't hurt you. " Don't let it get to you. Amanda's Mom keeps all kinds of gluten-free food lists on her...

I've had a terrible crik (sp?) in my neck for the past week. It started Monday and by Tues. I could hardly turn my head. It was 90% better on Wed. and Thurs., but came back with a vengeance on Friday. Now it's better this morning. I don't know what's causing it. Ouch! Here's another picture of a mural I did. I paint with a friend and she painted...

My daughter did that last year. I can't remember the name of the cookie, but it's like a chocolate graham and I like to make cheesecake crust out of it. My daughter decided she wanted some just to eat, so she went to Whole Foods and bought some. She ate the whole bag (over a period of days) and exclaimed about how good they were. Turns out she had bought...

A couple of people have asked for my blackberry cobbler recipe, so here it is:2 cups sugar1/3 cup butter2 cups flour (I use Bob's Red Mill gluten-free)2 tsp. baking powder1 tsp. salt1 cup milk2 cups blackberries (fresh or frozen)** 2 cups boiling water**The doughy part is overwhelming to me so I either increase the berries or half the dough part of the recipe...

Got up at 6:30 this morning so I could get another coat of paint on my patio before the rain comes again. I won't complain about the rain because we sure need it. We've been as dry as bones around here this summer. But I'd sure like to get my painting done so I can put the gazebo up.I need to go to Home Depot to get the supplies I need to make some concrete...

I was making good progress on painting my patio today. I've been holding off on painting for the past few days because rain was forcasted. We'd get a lot of thunder, lightning, and bluster so I didn't want to paint if it was going to get rained on before it dried. But we never got any rain. Today, I decided to just go ahead and paint...got a lot done...

My son's school started today, although it's just a half day and a party. He's in 11th grade now and it's his first time to drive himself. Eeek! I've dreaded this day.Last Sunday night we had a teenager die in our neighborhood. The driver was a 16 y.o. who just got his license the week before. His 15 y.o. friend was on the passenger side and a 14 y.o...

My daughter and I planned to go to the grand opening of the new Ikea store in the Dallas area yesterday. We were getting ready to go, but thankfully my daughter was listening to the radio and they were talking about the opening. They said that all the parking places were full and that the line to get in was all the way around the bldg.I hate crowds like...

Thanks. I found it and read it.

I don't like to write about health problems because when I actually write them down, I sound like a poor unhealthy sot...which I'm not. In fact, I've been remarkably healthy for someone who's unknowingly had a disease all her life. But I'm going to talk about my eyes. In addition to celiac disease, eye problems run in my family. It's a retina detachment...

Report On The Weekend W/all Those People
Mosaics commented on lindylynn's blog entry in lindylynn's Blog
I assume Chester is your husband? See, he is concerned about your gluten intake. He cleaned the toaster...fanatically! Chester is the name of my uncle (mother's youngest brother) who was the first one diagnosed with celiac disease in our family. I'm glad to hear that all went well for you and everyone ate happily. Oh, one more thing. I just... -
Lindy, how did your weekend full of gluten-eating guests go?

I usually like chocolate desserts...chocolate cake, choc. chip cookies, chocolate cheesecake, brownies, etc. But sometimes a good cobbler is what I crave. And I do love blackberry cobbler. That's something I missed for a while after going gluten-free...not that I had it often, it was just the thought of not being able to have it. Well, I learned how...

It's Saturday. I have nothing to say. I just wanted to put my blog at the top of the page.

ARCHIVED Is Anyone Else Concerned About All Ibs Publicity?
Mosaics replied to mytummyhurts's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes! Those IBS commercials irritate me. And what really gets me are the acid reflux commericals. There must be a thousand medications for acid reflux. People need to look for the CAUSE of acid reflux instead of popping a pill to mask the symptoms. My cause (and my brother's cause) was celiac disease. When we went on a gluten-free diet, our acid reflux... -
ARCHIVED Fingernails (pictures Of Disorders)
Mosaics replied to Emme999's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have also had those little white dashes in my fingernails all my life and thought they were "bruises". (Otherwise my nails are very strong and fast growing) I thought everyone had them and didn't find out otherwise until I discovered they were a symptom of celiac disease and I started asking other people if they had them...and they didn't. -
Num1, sounds like you are having a tough time. Why is your father so angry? Are you sticking with the diet? Are you a teenager? There are a couple of other teens on this board. I have a 16 y.o. son with celiac disease and I think it's hardest for him to stay on the diet because all of his friends are always eating pizza and stuff.
