  1. I see a metallic watering can full of flowers with the spout facing left.
  2. W00t! Thanks for sharing.
  3. Civkebs cuss? Who knew they had fowl mouths? Flashforward continues to draw attention. Rob was interviewed this morning on Canada AM, a news/talk program on the Canadian network (CTV) which will air the program. Apparently the show sets a new high body count for TV with 43 million dead in the first few minutes. Rob appears in a cameo in the first episode...
  4. Please continue this discussion here and refrain from starting additional threads on the same topic.
  5. If anybody has a documented instance of this actually happening anywhere, please share it with us. I have never seen one, and do not believe that there is any truth in this rumor. Wheat is not an effective anti-stick substance. Cellulose is commonly used because it is cheaper and more effective. It is gluten-free. If they sprinkled the belts with wheat...
  6. Alas, it is not a joke. Gus suddenly developed gastric torsion last night and had to be put down. :(
  7. This question is a classic that keeps coming up. I'll raise four points about it. Do you have any gluten-containing products in your house? If so, your house is a "shared facility." If the above is true, do you wash all your dishes in the same sink or dishwasher? If so, you have "shared equipment." Um, your dishes and cutlery would be shared regardless...
  8. I believe that this means that you are trying to link using an url with embedded actions. An example follows. [img=http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e339/tortoiseshell2002/Peter.webp?t=1253382601] doesn't work, but [img=http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e339/tortoiseshell2002/Peter.webp] produces:http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e339/tortoiseshell...
  9. I phorgot, not everybuddy uses Mozilla Firefox. That's wot ewe haf to do when using Internet Exploder. That link points to yer av on celiac.com, and will cause your current av, whatever that is, to be shown.
  10. Everybody is getting really close while missing the phinal piece. You have found where the image lives on this site. You can find an image by right clicking on it and choosing "Copy image location." The url will be placed on your clipboard. From there you can paste it anywhere using <ctrl>-V. If you wrap the url in the img tag, as in: [img=https...
  11. I'm that way too. I read the ingredient list. I know what is safe, what is not, and what to question. If the ingredient is uncertain, I check the labeling policy of the manufacturer. There are a lot of companies that have a clear gluten disclosure policy. If you don't see wheat, rye, barley, or oat named on the labels, they are just not there. Even if...
  12. Hi, Lisa, Here come some maths and sciences, based on the information you provided. We often debate what is a safe level of gluten in ordinary products such as bread. The EU allows up to 200 parts per million (ppm) in some cases, and 20 ppm in others. The US is debating a 20 ppm rule for products labeled gluten-free. Each 50 mg tablet contains 1...
  13. Wish-Bone is a Unilever brand. They, like Kraft and many other companies, will clearly disclose any gluten source by naming the grain in question. If there is gluten in a Unilever product, one or more of the words wheat, rye, barley or oats will appear on the label. If those words do not appear, then ingredients such as flavors, modified food starch, seasoning...
  14. The topic is about whether celiac disease increases risk from swine flu. Let's stay on topic, please.
  15. A very Happy Birthday to Theresa! Morning, all.
  16. Kraft is a celiac-friendly manufacturer. There are many others. Open Original Shared Link If you don't see wheat, rye, barley, or oats, as one of those words, on their labels, it's not there. It won't be hidden in flavors, starches, etc. In the USA under FALCPA (in effect since January 1, 2006) wheat must always be explicitly declared, but that law...
  17. Try Whole Foods Market. They have four locations in Vancouver. Open Original Shared Link I would call ahead to make sure they have it before making the trip.
  18. Welcome to the forum! All three of those are Kraft brands. Kraft will clearly identify, by name, any gluten grain in the ingredients list. If you don't see wheat, barley, rye or oats in the list, then the product is gluten-free.
  19. When you call a company, you are speaking with a customer service representative, not a dietitian. In most cases, all they can do is read you the information that they have been given. They may not fully understand the answer that they are reading, but that doesn't mean that the answer is not correct. Caramel color is one of those celiac urban myths...
  20. Holy cow! Who knew my pheet were so scary? I phrightened everybuddy away.
  21. Genetic tests show whether you are susceptible to developing celiac disease, but can not rule it out. Among those who are genetically susceptible, only a small number actually develop the disease. If the recognized genetic markers are absent, then your chance of developing celiac disease is minimal, but it is not zero, as cases have been identified in patients...
  22. Wine is my choice when dining out. No worries there.
  23. For the Oracle, everything is possible. It uses the http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e339/tortoiseshell2002/Psillies/DSC00620e2.webp' alt='DSC00620e2.webp'> Sorry you asked?
  24. Malt vinegar will always be labeled as "Malt Vinegar." The single word "vinegar" refers to distilled vinegar made from corn or apples. Wine vinegar will be so labeled--it is gluten-free.
  25. In the USA, under FALCPA legislation, wheat must be explicitly declared if present in a packaged food product. There are two different ways that a label can do this. a) Wheat can be named as an ingredient, or can be named in parentheses after the name of another ingredient; OR There can be a "Contains: Wheat" statement following the ingredient...
