  1. While it once was true that "modified food starch" was possibly (but very rarely) wheat, it is no longer true. For years now, in both Canada and the US, if it is wheat that must be clearly disclosed either in the ingredients list, or in a "Contains: Wheat" notice following the ingredients. MFS is usually tapioca or corn. This topic was started in...
  2. Hard to tell. Each lab has its own ranges based on the historical results of the test as they administer it. To interpret the results we really need to have the normal ranges for each test as provided by the lab in question. If IgA is Total Serum IgA, that is a measurement of the level at which the immune system is functioning and producing antibodies...
  3. Click here to access a Q&A topic about this.
  4. It says that because it is true at some locations. Most full-sized Swiss Chalet locations with table service have dedicated fryers for the fries. But the locations where Harvey's shares the facility usually share the fryers.
  5. Oh, and speaking of misinformation from old lists, vinegar (except for malt vinegar which will always be so described) and modified food starch are okay. The landscape changed over five years ago when FALCPA took effect. Wheat must now be explicitly declared and cannot be hidden. As a result, many ingredients on old lists are no longer a concern. Starch,...
  6. All true. I'll add maltodextrin to the list of myths--its gluten-free for sure. And wine is safe, no matter how many times you hear the myth about how the barrels are sealed. Welcome to our community.
  7. Joy, the limit is on images in a single post. I don't know exactly what it is. You can post clickable links to images with no limit that I know of. If you are posting on the board you can break the post up into two or more posts. I don't know about the blogs.
  8. Things are slow. Ah, for the busy days in January of 2009. Susie (DingoGirl) was crowned and then went away for a few days. When she came back, she was no longer queen. It took just two days to push her off the throne. The history of the psilly throne: Monarch .... Crowned .. Reign ----------------------------- Richard .. 29-Sep-2006 ....
  9. Links to the site named after the largest river in South America can not be posted here. You get (Company Name Removed - They Spammed This Forum and are Banned) if you try to post their url.
  10. Because, as the law is written, soybean oil is not the allergen "soy." So, to say "Contains: Soy" would be considered misleading if the oil was the only soy-derived ingredient. Many companies label the oil as "soybean oil" which is permitted. "Vegetable oil (soy)" would be iffy as the parentheses might imply an allergen. I'm not saying it is good, only...
  11. Tags from HTML which use < and > as delimeters do not work here. Open Original Shared Link do generally work.
  12. Actually, in the US, that isn't true. While soy is a FALCPA allergen, the legislation contains an exemption for "highly refined oils." Soybean oil can legally be labeled as "vegetable oil," with no identification of the source being required. Open Original Shared Link
  13. Actually, there are lists that say blue cheese is gluten-free without qualification. The Canadian Celiac Association lists "Cheese (blue)" as gluten-free. Shelley Case lists cheese as gluten-free with a few possible exceptions--blue is not one of them. The starter culture for the mold is so far removed from the final product as to be irrelevant in practical...
  14. This is an old notebook (ThinkPad T43 running XP SP2). If the line is too long, it will wrap around to the next line. If you have shiny new hardware with a wide screen, maybe you should look to the right instead of the left.
  15. The image I posted is from MS Internet Explorer 8. I also use Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox. I used to use Firefox as my primary browser, but have had problems with it and it is no longer my first choice. Image from Chrome: Image from Safari: Image from Firefox: Maybe it only works in the Northern Hemisphere...
  16. It is only on the main page. I circled it in red in the image.
  17. I'm going to disagree with this. Most human shampoos are too harsh for a dog's skin. You might get away with baby shampoo. I agree with the other part, though. Far too many dog owners wash their dogs unnecessarily resulting in dry skin problems. Pet foods and supplies are my business--we own a pet specialty retail store.
  18. Could be. Hmm. Try clicking on "Blogs" near the top left. It's sort of floating in space under the main option line. See if you can create one from there.
  19. David, We are talking about "status updates" made in your profile page, not posts to the board. Status updates are seen only by members who view the person's profile, either by going to their profile page, or clicking on the timy "View Profile" icon to the right of the member's name.
  20. I'm not sure I understand what you are seeing. If you navigate backwards, the arrows will reflect the status when the page you are returning to was first displayed. If you are using "View New Content," click on it to refresh the view and you will get updated status. If you are viewing a forum index, go back to the main page and click on the forum...
  21. Posting status updates which refer to your blog would, in my interpretation of the rules, be acceptable.
  22. When you click on the pull-down triangle to the right of your name, you should get this menu: My Profile My Settings My Content My Liked Content Messenger (? New) Manage Friends Manage Ignored Users Manage Blogs You are not "too new," there is no eligibility requirement.
  23. What she said. Only 1% of the population, or 1 in 30 with the so-called celiac gene, actually develop the disease. US medicine is just beginning to recognize that people without either of those markers can also develop celiac disease. Europe is way ahead on that front.
