  1. Thanks for the Almond Bread recipe Rinne! There are so many recipes out there - I just haven't been sure which one to try. But some "toast" would be nice. Also, something that resembles a real sandwhich.
  2. Got a question about measuring almond meal flour. Do you guys spoon it into a measuring cut and level it off, or do you tap it down some? I am having mixed results with recipes. I tried making a pizza crust the other night - and the recipe said it would form into a ball in the food processor. Well - yes - but only after I added ALOT more almond meal...
  3. There are a few people on the SCD diet who successfully make Coconut Yogurt. I tried once - but believe I had a bad coconut - it didn't turn out well. But - here is a link to Ali B's method of making it: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...52897&st=15 In case the link does not work, it is on page 2 of the Dedicated SCD Recipe thread...
  4. Rinne - can you post the recipe for your almond/egg/dry curd cottage cheese bread? That is the one thing I am missing - and your SCD toast with SCD cream chees and raspberry jam sound wonderful!!!!
  5. Pele - thanks for the suggestions! It has been a few years since I tried, so I had kind of just given up on it - but now would be the perfect time for me to make inquiries, especially for possibly early planting on some things. There are lots of garden stores. I think I even know of one that is organic. Not the ones that are closest - but surely they...
  6. Okay, I missed a few posts and was just reading them. I am so jealous of those of you who live close to sources of real food, can grow real food, etc. I live in Texas and have not mastered how to garden here. Tried tomatoes and such several times - but they burn up it gets so hot here in the summer. I know there are some places within about 2 hours...
  7. I have to say that eating "real food" has helped me. I am not all the way there yet - but am improving. Mainly, I don't have headaches after eating (most times), I am not so bloated I look pregnant (most of the time), I don't have so much gas I worry about being too close to people and while I still have an issue with excess mucous there has been some...
  8. I am jealous!!! I only wish I could get it for 3.99 a lb. But, 5.50 beats the ridiculous price of Bobs at 12 or 13 a lb. I wish we had Trader Joe's here!
  9. My chicken salad is a kind of a throw together type recipe. Not alot is measured. The meat was from a whole chicken that I had brined and then roasted. If I had to guess on the amount of chicken, I would say 2 or 3 cups. I added 3 or 4 chopped hard boiled eggs. The mayo is homemade: 1 cup oil (I used canola as that was what I have) 1 egg...
  10. Interesting with your son, Ali! I hope his yogurt comes out well and he doesn't forget it. I found that ordering it online is much cheaper than the health food stores here with regard to almond meal. Bob's Almond Meal is something like $12 or $13 for a 1 pound bag!!!! I can order it online for about $6 a pound - and that includes shipping!! I also...
  11. Hey Ali! Good idea on the crackers and the baking pan!! I thought the paper towel rolls a little fussy as well (plus didn't even have them). Although the picture of the crackers in the cookbook were nice - round crackers, all very even - looked very gourmet! They were probably a little bit smaller than a ritz cracker in the picture. However,...
  12. I always had the same problem with bread recipes from Annalise Roberts as well! I really liked her bread - but it always fell in the middle. I tried adjusting the water as suggested in some of the tips - and no matter what I did - still fell. I also really liked a bread recipe off of Recipezaar as well - but it also fell. Made good stuffing though for...
  13. Actually, there is a thread on Oil Pulling - where various people (including Shay and Sherry) are recording their results. Many are saying they are seeing some results, especially with regard to the teeth/mouth feeling cleaner.
  14. Sherry - I think the crackers would work just fine without the sesame seeds! The crackers were quite good. I will likely adjust the amount of dijon mustard the next time. It wasn't an overwhelming flavor - but I am just not big into mustard and would almost prefer it without. I hadn't tried any of the breads yet (like the Lois Lang bread). Thanks...
  15. Here is a recipe I tried this weekend for Sesame-Dijon Crackers. They turned out very yummy! This recipe comes from the cook-book, "Delicious Recipes for Healthy Living, Grain-Free Gourmet," by Jodi Bager and Jenny Lass. 2-1/2 cups (625 mL) almond flour 1-1/4 cups (300 mL) grated Parmesan Cheese 1/4 cup (50 mL) sesame seeds 1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt 1...
  16. Ali - that sounds scary. I hope that you are feeling better. Things are going okay for me. I have gone off diet a few times over the past couple of weeks, but now am back on. The mucous had gotten somewhat better - but I really think that coincided with when I started the Neem (from Organix - Thera Neem). I had been taking 2 a day. Then this past...
  17. Pele - I was poking around on STTM the other day - because I didn't remember what was said. I found this: -----The suggested amount is approx. 20-30 mg of cortisol, and sometimes more due to some patients metabolizing cortisol faster than others, to bring sluggish adrenal function up to it
  18. Pele - I love that site! In fact, that was where I got tipped off about adrenals and checking them. I got lucky and found a doctor (at that time) willing to read stuff and she gave me a trial run on Cortef. Thankfully I found another doctor who believes that there is gray area between healthy adrenals and Addison's and seemed much more comfortable with...
  19. Ali - I end up doing that during the few times my husband goes out of town. Then I am a zombie every day!!! And I think the same thing - I am not going to do that again - and then there I am late, late at night on the computer the next night! There is always so much to look at - it is easy to keep going until you are bleary eyed! I guess...
  20. You know, I had heard about Bee before as well - and was told the same thing - on her forum it is her way or the highway. I am with you - anything that is all or nothing like that - I am skeptical. Especially the thought that healing will only begin if you do steps A, B and C with absolutely no variance (and those steps are of course her steps). That is...
  21. Got a question about when to take probiotics. I thought that should be with food. The Neem also says to take with food. Can those be taken at the same time - or will the Neem kill off good as well as bad? If they cannot be taken at the same time - do I just try to take the probiotic with a snack? Of course, I have to space all of that from the psyllium...
  22. Kristina - I believe it is recommended that you are off cortef a minimum of 2 weeks before testing. I know you were only on it a few days before then being off it for 3 or 4 days. It might be worth checking again after being off of it for weeks. Perhaps something like Isocort might be enough to add some support. I have found with the Cortef that I have...
  23. Somehow, I bet not. Here is a great link for legal/illegal foods on the SCD diet: Open Original Shared Link Melatonin is on the list - illegal. I didn't see nitrates listed there - will have to keep poking around to find it. What kind of bacon did you find that was sugar free? I can find bacon without nitrates and other preservatives - but it...
  24. Kristina - did you do any testing for your cortisol levels before starting the cortef? What made you decide to go off? Since you are now off the cortef, you could ultimately do a cortisol panel to see where your adrenals are at (I did a saliva panel - 4 samples - to test it throughout the day). I am sure I have some type of parasite or candida or both...
