  1. I haven't, but I would also be interested in hearing how it is. My d.i.l. makes challa bread which is not g.f., and it would be nice to hand her a recipe that is!
  2. Wish we had a Chipotle's around here. They sound yummy.
  3. New Cascadia---is that a franchise, or a privately-owned bakery?
  4. Marilyn---you're welcome! Let us know how it turns out.
  5. Ohmygosh, I hear 'ya there! The same thing happened to me, about 7 years ago I think. I had over time, become so sick, I could barely function. So I went to an N.D. at a famous clinic run by a phenomenal homeopathic doc (but not all the docs at his clinic do things his way, I've found). Some things she diagnosed or suspected exactly right--like my severe...
  6. Well, if they need malt to make it taste good, I don't see why they couldn't use sorghum malt, like they do for making g.f. beer. Once I've lost the weight I want to lose (I'm halfway there, from eating low-carb!), I want to start brewing my own g.f. beer, using sorghum malt. And yes I can have a beer now and then and not gain weight! I just figure...
  7. Oh wow, thanks stupid Qdoba! I ate there for the first time about 3 weeks ago, and after very carefully questioning the woman who helped us, who seemed fairly knowledgeable, I ordered the Ancho Chili BBQ on a corn tortilla, and we also had corn chips. All of which, according to their website, contain gluten. All of which I was assured at the restaurant...
  8. *wild applause* Fabulous!
  9. Agreed! Call me suspicious (and I am), but that article smacks of someone with something to lose; like huge profits. It seems to have the fingerprints of the wheat industry all over it.
  10. Oh, don't feel bad, I've done it, too! I've been g.f. since March, and at first I was fanatical about checking every label. But after several months, I would start forgetting! Not sure why....maybe it's because if I get glutened, there's little or no reaction. The reason I know this is because in July, my d.i.l. accidentally glutened me with home made...
  11. You are obviously not a clumsy baker like me!
  12. Mmm, the crust recipe sounds so good, and easy, too! I never have like rolling out pie crust....to me it was just a pain and I could never seem to get it all the same thickness. Then when I was done I'd always have trouble getting it into the pie plate. This sounds way easier! And Marilyn, I don't see why coconut milk wouldn't be absolutely delish...
  13. Oh, thanks! I'll see if I can find it.
  14. Um, next question : What is the zinc status test, and how do you do it?
  15. Hmmm....lectins....if I remember correctly, that's the basis for the Eat Right 4 Your Type book/diet, by Dr. D'Adamo. I've read the book and found what he had to say about lectins really interesting, and have toyed with the idea of trying his way of eating based on blood type. But I've never known anyone who has done this, so it would be nice to hear from...
  16. I was wondering if anyone on the board living in or near Coeur d'Alene, ID (or recent travelers to this area) knows of any g.f. restaurants in the area......or at least ones that offer some g.f. choices other than salads!
  17. A woman who owns a tiny restaurant in a very small town near here decided to offer anything on her menu made g.f. My first visit there, I asked her if she had seen any increase in business because of it--I was curious because I been told by a waitress in a restaurant down the street from her, the night before that they didn't offer any g.f. food because ...
  18. Well, the chocolate, peas and beans never bothered me at all, as far as I know. I mean I never had any obvious reactions to them, like with the avocados and strawberries. The 3rd time I had that horrible stomach pain I had eaten mixed fresh fruit at an organic restaurant: strawberries, pineapple, kiwi, and grapes. Before that and since, I've eaten tons of...
  19. lol I'm such a dork, sorry about that! I don't know why I was thinking you said chia....must've had chia on the brain. But then.....wouldn't that make me a Chia Pet? (for those of you old enough to remember)
  20. Jestgar: Thanks for the suggestions! I never thought I'd be willing to eat leftover chicken for breakfast, but I think I'll try it! And the black beans and eggs w/salsa sounds great! These will be fine on days I have time to cook, that is. I love hummus, but can't eat it do to the tahini. But the almond butter reminded me that I love apple slices dipped...
  21. Darn210: Sorry, I messed up! It wasn't Lara bars that I was thinking of, it was Luna bars! I went shopping at a local store that has a small health-food area, with lots of different bars. So many different bars, and not a Lara bar to be found. But yeah, you're right about them being too many carbs. But that's ok, on one of the sites that that missy'smom...
  22. Rice Guy: I'm not sensitive to all grains (except buckwheat), it's just that I'm on the Atkins diet, so I can't do cereal right now, although I love it! But the diet's working, so I want to keep hanging in there with it. But I can eat coconut and love it! That coconut yogurt sounds awesome! I've never seen it around my little town but next time I go to where...
  23. Funny you should mention Elana's Pantry, as I just happened to stumble across it last night! I'll check out the others you mentioned, too. Thanks!
  24. missy'smom: Thanks, I've made muffins like that, but it's been so long I'd forgotten! Duh. I'll make some. As for the salmon, unfortunately all seafood is out my diet for now, too. Which sucks 'cause I love it. Darn210: Good idea on the eggs. I don't really care for plain old hard-boiled eggs that aren't mixed with something, but hey, they're not that...
  25. I just got my test results for food sensitivities/leaky gut back, and my doc says I have nasty case of it. She also said that according to the results, my body is having a reaction to pretty much everything I put in my mouth. But that if it weren't for the the LGS, it wouldn't be that bad. I had the Genova Labs IgG test done. So, doc says to eliminate for...
