  1. Well luckily the rest of the family doesn't like him either so I will have some backup lol. I told hubs I would just bring paper everything so I don't have to deal with anything. He laughed but agreed there's probably worse tactics for dealing with it.
  2. Also, it could be cc. I have been CC'd with my kid before ( I made him normal cookies- NEVER did that again lol)
  3. Oh goodness now I am hungry
  4. My husbands ENTIRE family is going to the beach this year, and naturally we are expected to go. I am freaking out about CC/bringing food/cookware/etc. Because none of his family knows anything about Gluten Sensitivity or avoiding CC. I know that there's one particular cousin that is going ot be a dick about it and insist that "only a little won't hurt"...
  5. I LOOOVE Bananas and grapes. Also, I eat Larabars which have 1/4 your daily allowance of fruits (dried). Ginger snap is really good and always soothes my tummy.
  6. HAHA I love that "Little gut fixing army". THat is great. Well, grocery shopping on Thursday, gotta make a menu/meals/snacks/etc bc I have to feed my army lol
  7. HAHA I could have used this tonight, I had to make due with some Udi's bread with my garlic bread stuff on it LOL it got the job done buuuut.....
  8. I liken it to a virus, that seems to get through to people. Think of it like the flu...if it touches something with the flu on it, it is "infected".
  9. Oh my goodness, since getting diagnosed and fixing the food problem, I can't stop eating! I am always starving! Husband keeps asking if I am pregnant again (NO!!). I guess I am just underweight and my body is trying to catch up? I am 6'1" and weigh 158. I am so happy that I am not crazy because I thought I was! Thanks for sharing this, guys, it really...
  10. Went out to celebrate our anniversary last night, and we went to Sticky Fingers since we had a date there in college. I told the waitress about my allergy and OMG she was great! She even knew what it was! She went and got the Manager who had a list of all the foods w/Gluten in them and I cross referenced the menu and was able to eat with my husband, son...
  11. Also, some people are just more susceptible to colds/flu/stomach bugs. It just depends on what you are genetically predisposed to. My sons friend caught 7 SEPARATE stomach bugs this winter, I caught one, and the baby? None! My husband NEVER gets sick, and I catch colds but thats about it.
  12. I'm OCD about handwashing anyway, it probably helps the CC issues LOL
  13. Aww it might have been the fake sugar! That has gotten me before.
  14. Kinnikinik (I spelled that wrong) makes AWESOME pizza crusts, they're frozen and my toddler AND husband ate it ALL. I had to make more for me lol. No reactions, and very tasty. Hope that helps your pizza dilemma! OH YEAH and that other Amy's pizza I had in the freezer? I fed it to my toddler. He thought he was super special and it made his day when...
  15. I know people who are like that and it takes a LOT to make them react. I am not HIGHLY sensitive, but sensitive enough for a Amy's to catch me off guard. I think you may be reacting with the upset stomach and cramping. AND, once you know what's in stuff it's easy to avoid. So you may just be effectively avoiding it! I really would rather be asymptomatic...
  16. EVERYTHING is better with butter
  17. Thanks, guys. I DO stay here (we own a house and I am in grad school- plus I'd probably strangle myself if I had to live with my parents again lol). I have some very good friends, unfortunately some of the wives are very catty and obnoxious. I try not to be around them very much. I go to the spouse functions, but aside from my very good friends I don't...
  18. Thanks for the advice. I am so afraid to eat out right now anyway...this will be my 7th deployment but the longest I have ever had to go through. I'm VERY overwhelmed....hopefully he won't have to go (wishful thinking). Right now we are strictly gluten free, with the exception of the deployment "sick box" for the baby which has a few cans of chicken...
  19. Hey guys. My husband just found out that he will be (possibly) going on a 9 month deployment, leaving me to fend for myself. My biggest fear is I will get glutenated (BAD) and have no one here to help me with my 18 month old little boy. Any tips for dealing with this alone? I'm pretty freaked out right now.
  20. It's ok, i began my college career as an art student, I'll make custom nosepins with little people on them. You can hand them out with a little card that says explains Celiac and being Gluten-free (and what happens if you DO get glutenated).
  21. It TOTALLY limits your ability to bake certain things. Also since you're a Mil. Wife too, remember that certain duty stations may not even be able to order the mixes so you'd be back at square 1 (no bread machine). I have an older one my parents gave me years ago and I scoured out, and I use the wheat setting, it seems to work pretty well with Bob's Red...
  22. I need your help, sister! I miss english muffins/bagels/toast/cake....I used to bake all the time and now I don't even know where to begin!!! My poor kid is begging for brownies and I don't know how to make them without flour You make that cookbook!!! You're miles ahead of the moms like me who at 23 are learning how to redo EVERYTHING!!!
  23. PMSing (and therefore kinda mean lol) but otherwise great! Husband will be home early, no class tonight, made headway on my final term papers, and so we can play outside in the beautiful weather! Hugs to all those who are recovering from their glutenings (but, y'know, not too much bc I don't want to squeeze you too hard lol).
  24. LOL THanks for the love, I feel WAY better today. Husband called it a "Drive By Flouring" because it was a relatively mild reaction.
  25. My grandmother is celiac, as was my great grandmother, my dad is allergic to gluten and I am only gluten intolerant. I see a genetic link through MY family, I'm not sure about everyone else's but my family history kind of makes me think it's genetic.
