  1. I voted G.I. issues, but am not going to disclose them because they're quite embarrassing.
  2. I vote for "glutenated" when someone knowingly, and without our permission fed us gluten (with malice). And "glutened" for when it happens by accident, (or without malice).
  3. Open Original Shared Link This was interesting reading for me on that subject.
  4. If the manufacturer has to (spend $) test for gluten in order to state their product is gluten-free, it stands to reason they will charge more for the product so that they can make their money back. Isn't this the profit model on which Whole Foods was launched?
  5. Been diagnosed celiac, both my parents might be to; Dad (deceased) had depression and severe mental illness, Mom is diabetic, hypothyroid, congestive heart, scoliosis and seems to have Parkinson's, also suffers with diarrhea. On Dad's side of the family, his first cousin had known issues with wheat, and his sister had ITP. So yes, I think there may be...
  6. Maybe lignan intolerance. Might want to cut out all grains, beans (including green beans and peanuts) and potatoes. Interestingly; these are all foods that, in their raw form, contain poisons.
  7. It seems true; until the tips of the villi are healed lactose is impossible to digest, UNLESS the milk is raw, that is, unpasteurized. Pasteurization kills the natural enzymes present in raw milk that help digest the lactose. I've read it can take over two years for the villi to become healed. Goats' milk is easier to digest. But if you can get raw...
  8. This makes me very happy, as I really like bleu cheese and was going to miss having some now and then.
  9. Forgive me please, if I am incorrect. I am new to Gluten-free diet, having been confirmed celiac on 4/30. It is my understanding that some moldy cheeses, like Bleu and Roquefort are not gluten free, being that the mold is grown on wheat bread. See Open Original Shared Link Are you ordering from Red Robin in Larkspur?
  10. Ironically, raw milk is very healing for the intestine and raw also doesn't cause problems digesting lactose because it naturally contains the enzyme needed for digestion. Unfortunately, in most of the USA, raw milk cannot be sold commercially, so one must find a farmer. Since being diagnosed celiac 2 weeks ago, I've been drinking a little raw milk and feel...
  11. Cayenne's known to take digestion up a notch. While not a classic laxative, it tends to speed things up.
  12. I'm in No. Cal, Petaluma. Had many symptoms of celiac for years, and then changed my doctor because the other doc moved even further away. I found this new doctor, went in for a physical where I told him I thought I had celiac and was going to try a gluten-free diet. He asked me if I wanted a blood test... I had not known there was a blood test! So I had...
  13. I usually make myself some nice snacks with sliced meats, pickle spears and some cheese roll it up together and call it a ploughmans' lunch without the bread.
