ARCHIVED Gluten Free And Wheat Free Facial Care?
jmengert replied to Robina's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
All of Nars cosmetics facial care products are gluten-free, which is the brand of cosmetics I use, but for facial care, I use Neutrogena--they will send you a list of their gluten-free stuff, but they also clearly label, and I find most of their stuff to be gluten-free. Dove also clearly labels wheat, oats, barley, and rye, and some of their facial products... -
ARCHIVED Blood Tests Still Coming Back Positive--help!
jmengert replied to jmengert's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you everyone for your great ideas. I've thought of making our house gluten-free (even our dog eats gluten-free ) but I hate to make my boyfriend eat gluten free when he doesn't have to. However, I do feel like now I'm justified in doing so, but I just don't want to be too pushy....argh! This is very frustrating. Also, I believe most of his toiletries... -
ARCHIVED Blood Tests Still Coming Back Positive--help!
jmengert replied to jmengert's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You all are the best--thank you for being so supportive Okay, here's the rundown: I haven't eaten out in 1.5 years and cook all my stuff, so there's nothing there. I make my boyfriend brush his teeth before kissing, and I never kiss him on the cheek or anything because of his toiletries. As far as what I eat/use: Toiletries: Dove shampoo... -
ARCHIVED Blood Tests Still Coming Back Positive--help!
jmengert replied to jmengert's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It's just my boyfriend and I in our house, and he eats gluten. However, we have separate areas of the kitchen, use separate pans, separate condiments, he doesn't bake gluten, etc. I don't see how it would be from that. I'm wracking my brain here, and I can't think of *anything* that could have gluten. This is so frustrating! -
ARCHIVED Blood Tests Still Coming Back Positive--help!

I'm looking for help from those of you who may have experienced similar things. I've been gluten-free for nearly two years. I am *very careful*. I never eat out, I only cook my own foods, and every food that I put in my mouth has been verified gluten-free, as are my toiletries, makeup, or anything else that could end up in my mouth. So, I've been feeling... -
ARCHIVED Skippy Natural Peanut Butter?
jmengert replied to jmengert's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Um, I don't hate stirring. It happened to be the only soy free peanut butter at the store where I was shopping, so I bought it. I'm just grateful it's soy free. -
ARCHIVED Skippy Natural Peanut Butter?
jmengert replied to jmengert's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree--it's not natural, but since it doesn't have soy in it, and I don't have to stir it, I'm sold! -
ARCHIVED Skippy Natural Peanut Butter?
jmengert replied to jmengert's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you so much! I haven't eaten peanut butter in over a year, so I'll make sure to enjoy a lot of it -
ARCHIVED Skippy Natural Peanut Butter?
jmengert posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm soy free, in addition to gluten free, and I saw Skippy has a natural peanut butter--it just has palm oil, salt, and a bit of sugar (and peanuts of course ) I'm assuming this is gluten free, but does anyone know for sure about Skippy? Thanks in advance! -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Savonnerie
jmengert replied to Yenni's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've tried their shampoo, conditioner, soap, cocoa butter, and handsoap. I was happy with everything. There's something reassuring about using stuff that's in a dedicated gluten-free place. The only thing is that the shampoo doesn't lather much since it doesn't have any of the additives. But, it's all good stuff! -
ARCHIVED Rice Dream
jmengert replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've started using 365 Vanilla Rice milk, and I think it tastes great. You can get it at Whole Foods, if you have one of those nearby. -
ARCHIVED Having Friends Over For Dinner....
jmengert replied to wolfie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've been in similar situations, so I can understand. Personally, it makes me uncomfortable to have any gluten containing dessert in the house because they are very "crumby" and CC is more likely. Do you allow non-gluten-free desserts in the house, or is your house strictly gluten-free? I would just say that since two of you cannot eat the dessert, it... -
ARCHIVED Any "lost"-aholics Out There?
jmengert replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Oh, great, now another place to go to spoil me I agree--I like having the episodes in sets so that way there are fewer reruns throughout the year; Lost can get complicated, so hopefully it will be easier to follow this way, too. -
ARCHIVED Any "lost"-aholics Out There?
jmengert replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I get a lot of my good spoilers from Kristin at Eonline. She does chats every Monday that are transcribed on Tuesdays and sometimes she mentions stuff in her columns, which are posted on Fridays. I find she has the most reliable stuff out there. Happy spoiling! -
I teach English at a university, so I can relate. Just remember that you know more than they do, and at the beginning they're usually as nervous as we are. My students are always wonderful people (excepting a few over the years), so hopefully you'll find the same with yours. Good luck! I'm sure you'll do very well

Count me in! It's one of my favorite shows. I like reading all the spoilers to see what's going to happen, even though that kind of ruins the fun -
ARCHIVED Julie ~ Julia ~ Jules

I'm a Julie! I've noticed that, too--I only know one other person with that name, but here there are several -
ARCHIVED Are You Dying For Milk But Can't Have Lactose Or Soy?
jmengert replied to myserenityprayer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm also soy and dairy free, and I recently discovered Whole Food's 365 Vanilla Rice Milk, and it's gluten-free and very yummy, so there's another option if you have a Whole Foods near you. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Dog Food? ;o)
jmengert replied to Yenni's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, Cara--I'm very sorry for the loss of your dog. I actually got my avatar from this site, but I think it is a golden. They are the sweetest dogs. I don't know anything about wheatens, but hopefully someone will. And I second the warning on Nutro--most of their stuff is not gluten-free, but the lamb and rice is, so just make sure to always... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Dog Food? ;o)
jmengert replied to Yenni's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My doggie is also (mostly) gluten free, and he eats Nutro's Lamb and Rice formula. He seems to really like it, but then, he's not very picky! -
Dove is a company that clearly labels in all their products, so they will clearly list wheat, oats, barley, or rye. I use their shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, and frizz creme every day without problems. It smells great, too--I really like their stuff!

ARCHIVED Hair Dye
jmengert replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've also used Clairol's Nice and Easy several times without a problem ever. It also gives a very nice shine and covers up those darn gray hairs! -
The nausea could be continuing as your body adjusts to the diet. Nausea was (and now still is if I'm glutened) a symptom of mine. It got much better after going gluten-free, and then about 2-3 months after being gluten-free, I was nauseous for a straight month--it was awful. I couldn't eat and just felt miserable most of the time. Then, it went away....

I'm not such a fan of tomato sauce, and I'm really missing pesto sauce; I haven't had any in 2 years because I don't know of any that are gluten-free. Does anyone know of any? I've seen recipes for pesto, but I cook so much that I would really love to just pick up a jar of premade stuff. Thanks for any help!

ARCHIVED Multivitamin That's Gluten-free, Dairy-free And Soy-free?
jmengert replied to hineini's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm also soy, dairy, and gluten free, and I use GNC's Solo Day (a multivitamin) without any problems and have for months. Plus, it's only about $6/bottle; GNC's website will tell you what the vitamins are free of, too, if you want to check out other ones.
