ARCHIVED Going For The Scope?
jmengert replied to Marlene's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The drug they gave me was for "conscious sedation," but once that stuff went into my IV, the next thing I remember is getting wheeled back to the recovery area. I slept and laid around the rest of the day, but it was really no big deal--and I was *terrified* of having the procedure done. Just make sure to have someone there with you to drive you home and... -
Yeah, I even knew it was going to happen for a few weeks now (I read a lot of spoilers!), and I was still "ugh-ed" out. I just don't think their friendship had that level to it--ever. At least it looks like it was just a drunken hookup and not more than a one time thing. I hate that we have to wait another two weeks for a new show, too!

ARCHIVED Mayo
jmengert replied to dublin1's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Most cheese is gluten-free; there are apparently some shredded cheeses that are separated by wheat, but I've never personally seen them. I've also heard to watch out for cheese blends with herbs and such. There is also some controversy about blue cheese since it can start out from bread mold, but I don't eat it (never liked it!), so I don't know the actual... -
ARCHIVED Imodium?
jmengert replied to cdfiance's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I still get cramps and diarrhea fairly often, and I take Immodium for it when it's bad. It always helps my cramps immediately, and I've never had the side effect you've mentioned. However, I would imagine that taking Tylenol or something may also help, and perhaps she would want to try that if the Immodium has caused her problems in the past. Also, Pepto... -
ARCHIVED Omaha Steaks
jmengert replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The only time I have ordered from them I ordered tuna steaks. I emailed them and they got back to me within hours...and this was on a Sunday! They informed me that they were gluten-free, and the tuna was great. They were very helpful, so maybe if you email them about a particular product, they can let you know for sure if it's gluten-free or not. This... -
ARCHIVED Lotions
jmengert replied to mellajane's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use all Dove lotions. They clearly label for wheat, oats, barley, and rye, and so far, I have not seen one of their body lotions with any of these ingredients. I use several of their different types and have been happy with them all. -
I had the same thing for years (I, too, would sometimes get out of bed and run for the door), and now the only time I get them is when I'm glutened, so the diet definitely helped me. Hopefully, it does the same for you, as these "dreams" are horrible!

I agree--booooo!!! The next new show is March 15, so we have to wait two weeks. This is the first show in a long time for me that I've actually looked forward to the next new episode.

ARCHIVED Chanel
jmengert replied to mollyacampbell's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
About Nars, their stuff is all I use since it's all gluten-free. Also, just an FYI, their skincare is all gluten-free, too. However, I haven't tried it as it's very expensive, but it's there if I ever want to splurge! They are the only company I've found where literally every product is gluten-free, so I feel really safe with them, even if it's costing... -
I use Dove for almost all my products: facial lotion, body lotion, body wash, hairspray, frizz controller, and often their shampoos/conditioners. I like it a lot. They have a couple of face lotions with oats (I believe they are the sensitive skin varieties of products), but that's the only source of gluten I've seen in any of their products, and I use...

I loved it, too--I cried through a lot of it! I wonder when the next new episode is?....

Now *that's* love of a show when you name something after a character How sad is it that I just got home from work, and my first thought is "yippee! Only a few more hours until Grey's!" I've been counting down all week.....

French's mustard is both soy and gluten free. I use it all the time!

Okay, I'm am obsessed with this show. It's absolutely ridiculous. I own both seasons on DVD and have this season on my DVR and have seen most episodes several times. Oh, so sad. I think Meredith will live and that it will be her mom who dies since she's the one who is going in for heart surgery. I don't think they would have shown Denny and Dylan if...

ARCHIVED Is Proactiv Solution Skin Care Gluten Free?
jmengert replied to pineahead's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use the Proactiv system, and their products are gluten-free according to their handout that comes with it when you buy the system. But, I only use the three products that come in the pack (and the mask that came with it, too), so I'm not sure about the other products, but I would think they would be gluten-free, too. You could always call them about the... -
ARCHIVED Dogs - Can They Have celiac disease?
jmengert replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I second Nutro's Lamb and Rice formula. We have used it for our dog for 1.5 years now, for my own comfort. Also, for treats, Pupperoni (the regular beef kind) are also gluten-free and are soy-based instead. I used to break out in rashes when my dog licked me when he was eating regular gluten filled food, so it's nice that there are gluten-free options... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Multivitamin?
jmengert replied to TygerCubs's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use GNC's Soloday, as it's gluten-free, soy free, and dairy free. Plus, it's only $5.50 for a bottle--not bad! I like GNC because they have a lot of products that are gluten-free, and their website is helpful with this, too. -
ARCHIVED Quick Nyquil Question
jmengert replied to ReneCox's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was just on Vicks' website for Dayquil to see if it's gluten-free, and it says that ALL Vicks products are gluten-free, so you should be good to go! -
ARCHIVED Blood Panel
jmengert replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't know what's normal, but I heard back in about 5 days. But, my GI office didn't have a lab on site, so I had to go to the hospital for the tests, so maybe yours will be shorter than that. I hope you hear soon! -
ARCHIVED Anyone Have Experience With Going Off The Pill?
jmengert replied to jesscarmel's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Count me in the group with BIG problems with Depo. I had my period for six months straight when I took that stupid shot, which resulted in my having anemia for awhile. Never again will I have that stupid drug. But, before (and after) the Depo disaster, I went off the pill without any problems, after having been on it for 5 years or so. I didn't notice... -
ARCHIVED Vicks Dayquil Sinus
jmengert posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a stupid cold and need something for the sinus pain that I'm now having. I used to use Tylenol cold products, but I called yesterday about their new products (all the "cool burst" items), and they have not yet been tested for gluten. So, I went on Vicks' website, and in their FAQ it states that none of their products contain gluten, which would include... -
I had that happen the first two months or so after I went gluten-free. Then, suddenly, it disappeared. My body was pretty heavily damaged when I was diagnosed, so I wonder if it was my body's way of detoxing from all the gluten. Being dizzy is no fun, though; I remember having to lay down after eating most evenings. Hopefully, yours will resolve itself...

ARCHIVED Endoscopy Tomorrow
jmengert replied to chocolatelover's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'll try to answer as many questions as I can.... I was *terrified* to have my endoscopy, and I just had my first one this past November after being diagnosed via blood tests in November 2004 (I was, and still am, having other issues, so they wanted to rule out things by doing the endoscopy). It was a breeze. All the worry was for nothing (and I'm a... -
ARCHIVED Superbowl Party Dilemma
jmengert replied to kbabe1968's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
What about picnic type foods, like deviled eggs, potato salad, pasta salad? I use black pepper in all those, but you could easily just omit it. I'm also dairy free, so all those things are dairy free, too. You could also make honey mustard wings--I make my own honey mustard from a combo of honey, mustard, and mayo--very easy and tastes like restaurant... -
I'm leaving for Walt Disney World in a few days, and I'm excited that it seems to be a gluten-free paradise. However, I am one who chooses to not eat out, as I have multiple food issues, on top of celiac. The last time I ate out I also got violently ill, so I've decided it's not worth it (even though I'm tempted to at Disney.....) I've emailed the allergies...
