ARCHIVED Product Reccomendation
jmengert replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dove makes a facial moisturizer that has self-tanners in it. I'm not sure if it has SPF too or not. I've never actually used it but thought about it. Also, since I haven't actually bought it, just read it to make sure it's gluten-free, as Dove doesn't hide gluten. -
I'm intrigued by these recipes, as I'm also dairy and soy free--and I *love* rice pudding! Question--what brands of coconut milk do you all use that is gluten-free and dairy free?

jmengert replied to lob6796's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You need to check on natural flavors--sometimes it comes from wheat, and I've also seen barley. I've not often seen natural flavors from a gluten source, but always check, just in case. -
ARCHIVED Soy Free Stir Fry?
jmengert replied to SunnyDyRain's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Others may have some options, but I just use coconut oil to fry everything in, and then I use lots of spices--whatever you like. I made a chicken stir-fry last night, actually. With chicken, you can use almost any spice--cumin, poultry seasoning, onion, garlic, even Old Bay--whatever floats your boat. I think some other people on here make soy-free sauces... -

Jin, this cracks me up. I have horrendous periods, and there *is* no such thing as a happy period--MUST be men who made that commercial! And, I figure it's leaky gut, too. What a great thing to have. Why can't I react to gross foods, like broccoli (I HATE broccoli!), while foods like cookies and chocolate and cheese make my tummy happy? My homeopath... -

Hi, Rachel--Your explanation of hidden intolerances makes a lot of sense. Thanks for explaining that! Hi, Patti--I keep feeling like I'm just shooting in the dark. The intolerances keep coming, and I never know what's going to set me off. I haven't done an elimination diet. I really, really should. I think I'm afraid to, though--what else is possibly... -

Ugh! No wonder peanut butter made me feel gross. It was weird, though, since I eat peanut butter once a week or so, but this last time, oh boy. And I buy the natural peanut butters, too. Oh, well--at least I'm not alone -

Good morning, everyone! I just wanted to drop in to say hi, and also Happy Birthday, Laura! My younger brother is staying with me for the week (he's 13 (15 year age gap between us), so I'm trying to come up with interesting things for us to do), so I won't be on as much, but I'll make sure to keep checking in. I'm still having some issues--the nausea... -

Hi, Lisa--Of course not! I have every hope that you'll be feeling much better very soon, and I'm sending good thoughts your way. Hi, Tom--Wow. I can't believe it was '91. Doesn't seem like it's been that long. -
Two things: a krispy kreme donut (preferably a hot one if they have a bakery nearby) a pan pizza from pizza hut with extra cheese. i can't do dairy or gluten, so these are the things that i just can't replicate. eat them and relish every second for me!

Tom--just wanted to add that I love Queen and was very sad when Freddie Mercury died, even though it was quite a few years ago. I've been known to sing Bohemian Rhapsody at a karaoke night..... Rachel--glad to know that I'm not the only one who can rachel 60 cookies! -

It was actually 60 cookies in a few days, if that's any better I rarely feel full, so I can eat a lot, but I'm better than I used to be. I was down to 95 pounds at one point and got used to eating to put on weight. I'm back to my normal weight now, but I just don't gain weight easily, which makes it seem okay to eat a lot, too, which I know is bad! I... -

Jin--Tee, hee. At least if I have the runs and feel like crap, I'm not alone. I like your idea of the perfect man. He's pretty much my idea, too. I've been known to rachel (I'm using the lingo!) sixty gluten-free cookies in a few days....now, I'm more responsible -

Hi, Jin--I'm sorry you're feeling badly today. I'm right there with you--nausea and diarrhea are back. Sigh. Um, I love your story. I especially love how we will have massages and the Adonis-like men. That's definitely what I could use more of right now--Adonisis (Adonisi?) and massages. Hope everyone else is doing okay and is going to have a nice... -

Hi, Patti--I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling ill lately. Hopefully, the cream was the culprit, and now that you've stopped using it, you will begin to feel better. I hate when gluten is hiding under weird names; it's very frustrating. Hi, Carla--Hopefully, Chloe will be on the path to recovery soon and won't have to deal with the problems that... -

Laura, I'm a youngin' too--I'm 27. It's nice not to be the only youngin'! Lisa, I hope you find your answers soon. I'm very sorry that you're so ill and wish I could offer more comfort. -

Thanks, Tom--I agree; no more GNC Soloday for me! And, ironically, it took me forever to find a product that was gluten-free, soy free, and dairy free that I could readily buy. Ah, well. Now, I need to start those probiotics.... -

Thanks, Patti--that's really interesting. I guess by eating a more well-rounded diet (which I am notoriously bad at doing) I should get most of these vitamins naturally. It's such a bizarre concept--vitamins making people sick! -

Thanks for the info, Rachel. I'm such a worrier about germs and such (and teaching doesn't help) that I feel like without vitamins, I'm likely to get every illness under the sun. I've taken a multivitamin my whole life, so this is new for me. Maybe that's why I've been sick my whole life! Jin--thanks for saying that! It's nice to hear a good... -

Hi, Jin--Thanks for asking! I'm doing better, actually. However, it's weird...my doctor asked me to go off my vitamin (a multivitamin from GNC) for a week to see if things improve. And, for the first time in *ages* I have not gone to the bathroom in a day and a half, which for me is thrilling, considering I usually go 4 times a day, all diarrhea. Perhaps... -

Thanks, Patti--I hope the products settle well, too. I have a big fear of feeling and being sick, so I get very nervous when I try something new. Hi, everyone--Just got back from my first appointment with the naturopath. I was there for two hours, plus a four hour round trip to get there, and now I'm very tired. There was a lot to take in, and he thinks I have a lot of issues (tee, hee--I already knew that), but he thinks he can definitely get me sorted out. He's going to do a work up of my... -

I think there's another Julie who used to frequent this thread...I actually got confused for a bit because I'm a Julie M., too! But I've only been on this thread for a week or so. We actually had a thread going a year ago or so on all the Julies with celiac disease--there are a few of us!
