  1. I'm also soy/dairy/gluten free, and I use the Enjoy Life chocolate chips to make cookies, frosting, etc. so I can still get my chocolate fix. I basically make all the same sweets I did before but substitute shortening or coconut oil for the butter, and rice milk for any milk needed in the recipe. And they all still taste great!
  2. I went to England last year and didn't eat out once. I baked some muffins, banana bread, and cookies, and packed them in my checked luggage, well taped and labeled. I also kept some stuff in my carry on--snack type stuff. I had no problem going through Heathrow, here, or in Amsterdam where we had a layover. But, I made sure not to bring any fruits or...
  3. The closest I've found to natural is Bare Escentuals' mascara--they now make some with wheat in them, but the original, plain mascara is gluten-free. You can check out the ingredients to see if it's what you're looking for. Origins also makes some more natural-like products. They are really helpful if you email them about specific products regarding...
  4. Yes, I just refreeze them as soon as I get them. I will say, though, that once I took them on a plane trip with me, defrosted for a few days, and they were fine. I think they're supposed to be frozen simply because they don't have any preservatives and can mold easily--there's really nothing in them to make them go "bad" if they're not frozen.
  5. Yep--mine are always defrosted when I get them, and I eat them *all* the time (too much!), and they're fine. Enjoy!
  6. Kinnikinnick also makes some great cinnamon rolls; when I still ate dairy, I used to put Philadelphia cream cheese on top--yum! I can get Kinnikinnick in some local health food stores, and what I can't get locally, I order from their website.
  7. I'm dairy and soy free, and I use plain rice milk and "butter"--Smart Squeeze, which is gluten-free/SF/DF--and pepper. Tastes pretty much the same! Hope this helps!
  8. On the back of the gluten-free pantry cornbread box, they have a recipe that has those ingredients. That's what I'm planning on making for Thanksgiving, minus the stuffing. Hope this helps!
  9. My entire dinner will be gluten-free/DF/SF, and I am having turkey, cornbread stuffing (the gluten-free Pantry recipe on the back of their cornbread box, but I'm leaving out the sausage), green beans or honey glazed carrots, cranberry sauce (from a can! I love that stuff!), mashed potatoes (made with rice milk and sf/df butter--Smart Squeeze), and vanilla...
  10. Yeah, it's a small world! My parents have lived there about 7 or 8 years now, I guess. It would be funny if you knew them! IGA *is* expensive. I buy certain things there when I'm up that way, but I still do a lot of shopping at the Whole Foods in Fairfax. I hope the Outbacks work for you; I got glutened horribly by one down here where I live, but...
  11. My parents live in Marshall, VA, and I go up there to visit fairly often. While I don't eat out anymore (too many other intolerances), the IGA in town has a fairly good gluten-free selection, as does Bloom. IGA used to have even more products, when I was first diagnosed, but they do take special requests/orders. When I was still eating out, I went to...
  12. Just another vote for the Domino's--it's the only brand I use, and I use all of their varieties. I hope you can figure out what's bothering you!
  13. Happy birthday! It is frustrating to not be able to eat comfort foods on your b-day, so how about making them, just gluten-free? I'm also soy and dairy free, and I make cakes all the time. Pamela's now has a white cake mix that is soy/dairy/gluten free, and I made it yesterday with chocolate frosting from Enjoy Life chocolate chips--very yummy! I...
  14. Yep, dairy free means casein free, though lactose free doesn't necessarily mean casein/dairy free. It can all be confusing! I hope you find it in stores near you! I'm putting this stuff on everything this past week because I've missed butter so much!
  15. I'm on the east coast, and I've never seen this brand before. I'll keep an eye out, though. Thanks for the tip!
  16. Claritin ready tabs are gluten-free and dairy free (verified by the company). The rest of Claritin products are all gluten-free. I use the ready tabs all the time without a problem. I don't know about the aspartame issue, though. The company is very helpful, so if you give them a ring, they can probably answer your question.
  17. A tip for the cinnamon buns--when I could still have dairy, I took the brown sugar/cinnamon Philly cream cheese flavor and put that on top after I warmed up the bun--oh my goodness. So good! As close to a Cinnabon as I'll ever have again!
  18. Oh, how I've missed cheese. I bought this stuff this weekend because I'm also soy free, and, um, gross. It left a horrible aftertaste and was nothing like cheese. I'm going to try it melted next because I spent money on it, but, yeah, it's not good. Darn. I wish someone could make a good soy free, dairy free, gluten-free cheese!
  19. I just ordered two boxes last night--can't wait to try them! Thanks for the recommendation!
  20. It is dairy free--I contacted the company (I started the post you may be referring to). And it's also gluten-free and soy free. I started using it a week ago, and I love it! I've missed butter very much. It is rather sweet, but hey, I'll take what I can get! Enjoy!
  21. Welcome to the boards--this is a great place to find information! A lot of people here, myself included, went through a kind of withdrawal when we took away gluten. I had chest pains, nausea, and occasional horrible stomach cramps. They all resolved themselves in a couple of months (the nausea is the symptom that lingered with me the longest). However...
  22. I haven't verified with the company, but I use Pupperoni treats. The ingredients read gluten-free, so I'm comfortable using them. I use the beef or bacon flavor. They come in long strips, so you could tear some up for obedience purposes. There is also a Milk Bone fillet mignon type snack that reads gluten-free--check the labels, though, as I only bought...
  23. I had one level that was close or over 200, and my other levels were sky high, too (I was diagnosed 3 years ago, so the exact numbers are hazy). However, I've heard that even if your numbers are very high that that doesn't mean the damage is worse. Whether that is true or not, I'm not sure. I'd love to hear what others think about the correlation between...
  24. I've found it at Food Lion and Kroger. I haven't tried it yet, so I can't attest to the taste or anything. The main ingredients are modified food starch (from corn), water, and sugar, I believe. It's supposed to be "good for you," and it doesn't seem full of hydrogenated fats, like some of the butter substitutes. I'm glad that you've tried it, Patti...
  25. So I've really been missing butter. I use coconut oil or shortening to cook, but I miss that butter flavor on waffles, potatoes, etc. I found Smart Squeeze, which wouldn't be great for baking (so the label says), but for topping stuff it should work. I emailed them (the company is Smart Balance) and here's their response--enjoy!: We are happy to be...
