  1. I think Lays is one of those companies that discloses if there is a gluten ingredient...I might be wrong though. If it were another company I would say that barley *could* be hiding in "natural flavours" but I doubt it. Wait are you in Canada or another non-US country? That may be why the flavor you have was not online if you were looking at the US website...
  2. What are the ingredients in the one you're eating?
  3. There are lots of screen shots of it though. Are screen shots not admissible in court? I wonder how long it will be before he locks down his FB or removes his account completely. A simple googling of his name leads here also so I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a user name soon and starts replying to this thread...
  4. Tonight we're having baked Maui Maui, brown rice and a salad of lettuce, mango, avocado, roma tomato and red onion slices. I just had all those things to use up and so I thought why not make a salad. I'm just going to use olive oil and a splash of lemon for dressing.
  5. Hmmm...Hasn't worked there since March 15th yet the offensive post was made on March 10th when he WAS working there. Sounds like he got caught. I'm glad to read that people in the know are contacting the local press and chef associations. This guy should never be allowed to work in the food industry again.
  6. I couldn't eat very many raw things for about the first 6-8 months I was gluten free. If you are new to being gluten free, try eating easy to digest things like steamed veggies instead. I also couldn't do beans and nuts for several months until my body healed. Now (1 yr 3 months gltuen free) I can eat as much raw stuff as I want.
  7. Yeah, you always have to double check the ingredients AND check with the manufacturer if it's not clear from the package whether it has gltuen in it. Don't go by posts on this board only because products change so often. Always look at the date the post was made too so you know how current the info is.
  8. I also find it interesting that he made this rant on a picture with a copyright watermark on it. I wonder if he got permission from Meeta Abreicht before posting this picture to his facebook? I can't make out the name of her blogspot blog that had this photo, but I found another website that she maintains: Open Original Shared Link It does not appear...
  9. Where was the post? On his wall? If so it appears he deleted it. I'm glad someone took screen shots. This man needs to never be allowed to be a chef anywhere that claims to serve gluten-free food. Ever. Actually he probably should not be a chef to non-gluten free people either. Since he thinks it's okay to serve the equivalent of poison to gluten intolerant...
  10. All great suggestions except for the carnation instant breakfast. The ingredients may have changed, but last I read they were not gluten free.
  11. Yes, I had a reaction to them. It was most certainly a gluten reaction. They use Barley water in some of their other products. They deny that these have barley water but I think they do and they just test below the 20 ppm threshold. Regardless of whether they have gluten on purpose or accidental cc, they made me very sick. I ate them twice in the same...
  12. Oh I have seen something similar with cauiflower before for a low carb crust. Too bad I can't eat cheese. I wonder if this would work with vegan cheese or just with egg and zucchini. I love zucchini. Hmmm....I shall have to play with it sometime. I want to go back to a low carb diet eventually so I will keep this recipe in mind. thanks!
  13. When people start describing how good there gluteny food is I will just smile and nod and think about the most disgusting gluteny food I ever tried eating--like say a burger from McDonalds (I always thoguht they were GROSS and the buns were stale-- someone else might love them though). That way I am not jealous. I just imagine they are eating something...
  14. That sounds yummy! Care to share the recipe?
  15. Thank you for taking the time to find that out. Good to know the Kingsford is safe. One less thing to worry about.
  16. Beef Fajitas. And rice if I'm feeling ambitious.
  17. Really? That's the first time I had seen it. Now I wonder if what she said was accurate. I didn't catch the whole thing because I was distracted by hearing the word celiac on tv. I also wonder, does anyone know if Pauley has celiac or does one of her family members have it? I'm a big NCIS fan.
  18. I was watching the Amazing Race just now and Pauley Perrette from NCIS came on with a "CBS Cares" moment talking abotu celiac disease. She said something like "celiac Disease is a serious digestive condition..." They said to visit celiac.org for more information. Anyone else see it? I was really surprised!
  19. I have tried meal planning and it usually doesn't work out for me to plan specific things for a specific night. I have too much waste or if I plan on leftovers I don't end up having enough. Instead I just buy staples that I know I can use to make meals (chicken, beef, fish and in season produce mostly). Then I look at what is on sale or a good deal with...
  20. If it's celiac disease you have then you are not "allergic" to gluten and you will not ever outgrow it or be able to stop being gluten free safely. Celiac is an auto-immune reaction to gluten, not an allergy. I know this may be hard since you are not living with your dad anymore but can you try to get a copy of the tests that were run and the results? ...
  21. This explains SO much! Thank you for pointing that out. I have been gluten free for over a year now and did not know that. Twice in the past year I have grilled on a grill using those instant charcoal things and BOTH times I was violently throwing up after the meal. We were so careful to use foil on the grill and our own safe grill tools and no gluten...
  22. Was the colander/strainer you used to drain the noodles used in the past for gluten pasta? Those are very hard to clean because of all the small holes. You may want to get a new one. Also be wary of anything pourous--wood spoons for example or plastic with scratches or non-stick cookware with scratches. I hope you feel better soon!
  23. Here is a website I really like for ideas of what to do with veggies: Open Original Shared Link It is not a gluten free site, but many of the recipes are gluten-free or could be easily made that way. If you click on her recipe box she has all her recipes organized by vegetable in alphabetical order. So you can search for your favorites or for any new...
  24. I already grow my own potatoes, mint and thyme! Eucalyptus shouldn't be that hard. Now who is going to teach me how to make potato vodka? PS: I'm not so sure about that rain water. How would we verify that it had not been previously evaporated from a wheat field, LOL!
  25. Oh no! That has been the only mouthwash I like and use regularly. I tried a new flavor last month--it was purple-- and I felt "off" while using it so I switched back to the mint one and felt fine. Now it is all making sense to me. I either got a bad batch or I used one of their ones containign gluten. I think the bottle I have now is okay but your post...
