  1. Hi Twitchy, I think we've posted back and forth a few times. I have gluten ataxia with all the weird symptoms as well as celiac disease and terrible GI problems. Also emotional problems related to food reactions (Depression, ADHD, GAD, etc.). Found this tonight online while I was doing some gluten ataxia research for myself. This is a real gem...
  2. Lindajoy, I have gluten ataxia. I have all but one of the symptoms you've described and I've written here on this forum a bit about gluten ataxia. You can find some good info here. I bolded all of the symptoms in your list that I experience. I am very reactive to gluten in a neurological way and have some white spots on my MRI's. More about this...
  3. Hey Jenny, I'm 26 as well. I need to go to bed soon, but here are a few thoughts for you to take with a few grains of salt and chew on before swallowing. LOL. We share a lot of similar symptoms, but I don't have the thyroid problems that I know of. My bloodwork came back negative for celiac disease after I went gluten free for more than one year...
  4. I've had magnesium deficiency a number of times (deficient enough to go to ER and get an IV with Mag dripping for several hours), and the pounding heartbeat is one of my clearest symptoms. I also get palpitations, much worse as my Mag deficiency becomes more severe. Dehydration (a problem if you're often still having diarrhea or you just don't drink...
  5. Just wondering...can't you do both probiotics AND digestive enzymes? That's what I'm trying now. Probiotics help (when I take them every day), and I think the enzymes help a little too...but on both accounts I need to be more consistent. Probiotics and digestive enzymes have different functions, but work together nicely.
  6. I happened upon this thread while searching for "pancreatic insufficiency" and wondering about my symptoms and if they correlate. Anyways, just wanted to express that I wish you all the very best in finding competent and helpful doctors and getting some answers. I am not much help, but I'm happy to send well-wishes. Sarah
  7. Hi folks. I'm in the group of folks who are 100% adhering to the gluten free diet (last time I had cc was Jan 15, 2010 - very sick for 4 months), and who feels better for being GFD but still far from "good" or "great". Here's some info I was sharing with a friend who is helping me develop a more nutritious diet. So...thank you, everyone here...
  8. Ah...this is why I LOVE Celiac.com..... https://www.celiac.com/articles/710/1/Refractory-Sprue-by-Michelle-Melin-Rogovin-University-of-Chicago-Celiac-Disease-Program/Page1.html
  9. Refractory sprue? I've heard of it a few times but have no clue what it is. Guess I'm off to do some more reading..... I'm in the same category with original poster of this topic. I've been gluten-free for 11 months but still having problems, some getting worse, and increased intolerances to foods that I used to be able to eat (soy, corn, some lactose...
  10. Hey, ya'll - thanks so much for the clarification!! At least now I know there are a FEW less things I feel like I have to be PARANOID about. Though I must say, I'm becoming more and more suspicious of gluten contamination in what are normally considered "safe" grains because of harvesting, transport, and storage procedures. Now that some...
  11. Millet is a listed ingredient in Pamela's bread mix. Didn't see it in all her mixes, however; just some. Yet it was very clear, after I made a list of what I had eaten, when I had the big D during the day, and what time I had eaten the Pamela's bread I had made that it was VERY CLEARLY something in the bread that I was reacting to. Yet my reaction...
  12. Hi mushroom, Your name makes me chuckle and smile! Thanks for the welcome! I am trying to "dig in" and get to know people and more about what makes my body tick. HUGS MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!!!!
  13. Oh yes, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about! I had it BAD during the gluten withdrawal period when I was first starting to go gluten-free and it lasted for about 3-4 weeks I believe. Then, whenever I get glutened or contaminated, that is one of my (many) symptoms and I feel like I'm going to eat my house down and perhaps my neighbor's too! It...
  14. This week, I was thinking about adhesives. I know...I think of the oddest things! But I was thinking about adhesives as they relate to gluten content and Celiac Disease. I have a hunch that we don't often realize how gluten can permeate so many different products we use, though my guess is that those who have DH might be more aware than me (since I don...
  15. Oh my gosh, I am sooo glad there are ladies talking about this!!! Help is WELCOME! I started getting infections "down there" very very shortly after I had a major blow-up of Celiac Disease in 2009. I was in the ER for dehydration and a mess of other problems that we now know where celiac disease-related, and then a day or two later I was back because...
  16. Hey Lisa, that's a great website! Thanks for sharing!!
  17. By the way, I should add that a good chunk of my own investigating has revolved around the topic of gluten ataxia, so if you see that what I sent mentions that a lot, that would be why. Never the less, Dr. Hadjivassiliou is one of the world leaders at this time in Celiac Disease research. Sadly, while there is some outstanding research being done in...
  18. KevinG, I'm in my first year of knowing I have Celiac Disease, so I have a lot to learn and yet I've also done LOTS OF READING on PubMed and Medline. So maybe I can help a bit? Because I'm getting tired, I'm basically going to throw some info in your direction and leave you to dig through it ...which is really what you'll have to do anyways. So...
  19. Open Original Shared Link DNC News: Celiac Disease, Gluten Ataxia and Candidiasis Subject: Celiac disease, triggered by gluten proteins from wheat in susceptible people, can damage the central nervous system. The cell walls of Candida, the yeast responsible for oral thrush, vaginal infections and intestinal Candidiasis, contain the same protein...
  20. Whoa!!!!??? Millet being contaminated with GLUTEN? Oh man! Maybe that explains what I went through with Pamela's bread mix?! Oh sheesh. Well, I guess whether or not I have a millet allergy, I'm just going to stay away from it period. My face swelled up and it was just really bad - lots of strange allergy-like problems plus increased ataxia, 2.5...
  21. If ya'll don't mind, I would really like to BUMP this discussion back up. I know it was originally started in 2007 by another member, but I suspect asking questions and looking into the possibilities of candida (yeast) problems related to Celiac Disease might help both me and others here. I will post more later (I also want to see if anyone is interested...
  22. I hope this forum topic is still active! I could really use some support. I'm so lost, frustrated, scared, and overwhelmed. Honestly, I think I just need a hug.
  23. I have been reading as much of Hadjivassiliou's articles as I can access for free through PubMed. So far, so good. I brought a bunch of them to my doc. He wondered why I wanted a diagnosis of gluten ataxia. Ha! He totally didn't get it! I don't want a diagnosis of something I DON'T have (after all, I have a long enough list of diagnoses), but I want...
