  1. But I *am* focused very intently.
  2. Whatever do you mean??? Tee hee...
  3. I forget how to spell certain things so am afraid I cannot list them at this time. You deserve that champagne! Happy everything! And have fun with some this and some that. The oven method is the best way methinks. It is amazing what can be done in the kitchen! Hee hee... Snow is nauseating. Especially with the ice, broken branches, etc. ...
  4. Two retail stores???? How can you stand it? I would be there so often I would get kicked out!
  5. What flavours are these crackers of which you speak? I also tried the waffles when I was first diagnosed and let us just say I did not spit them out but... So, Colleen, have you bought your waffle iron yet? I whipped up some pancakes for lunch today but forgot to use my chipotle maple butter, dang it!
  6. You should see the piles of snow! We are in the middle of a serious blizzard. I can hardly see across the street it is blowing so hard. When I took our dog for our morning walk the snow went over my knee-high boots. The driving snow really hurts. Have I ever mentioned I DESPISE our winters? I really, really do. We were going to have bangers and...
  7. Abby, I use them! I get my in-laws to pick them up for me when they go to the U.S. None that I have contain gluten - in fact, I do not think any do (but I have not called them myself for over a year). My spice cupboard contains 85+ spices I roast and grind. I am a spice fanatic! Sometimes I open the pantry and sigh deeply... This reminds me ...
  8. My mistake. I had ciabatta on the brain but did indeed mean challah. Either one sounds delicious!! :-)
  9. Something simple tonight as we are bound to have tons of trick or treaters at the door... Proper Bangers (plump authentic Cumberland sausages), roasted in the oven Mash (whipped buttery potatoes) Onion gravy Steamed peas
  10. Awesome! Truffles and meringues are amongst my favourites to make when I am in the mood for simple yet delicious. Thanks for posting.
  11. Thanks! You know, I enjoy your refreshing sense of humour in your responses. No pumpkins or anything here, either. Not sure what my excuse is. Sheer laziness perhaps??
  12. I love the idea of bags to prevent CC. Forgot to mention it helps to fill the cavity with fresh herbs, garlic, lemon, etc. and then season liberally. I love to roast lemon halves cut side down with the turkey and squeeze the juice over the meat once carved. Also great with orange. It does not scream citrus and adds delicious mellow flavour. Yummy in...
  13. I hope not! We need you. :-)
  14. Brining turkey first is my preference for absolutely succulent, moist and flavorful results. Then I season and place fresh herbs under the skin. But we all have our own little secrets, don't we? :-D
  15. Tempura batter is almost always made with rice flour but you definitely may have been glutened from a sauce or something. We all make mistakes, even those of us who have been gluten free for ages! Try not to worry about it. Easier said than done, I know, but worrying will not help. It will get better. Honest!
  16. Great! I would still allow both breads to dry out in addition to toasting. Tear into large cunks instead of small bits so the likelihood of mushy stuffing is further decreased. It also helps to roast the stuffing (dressing) in a separate pan with turkey drippings. It is safer and is not mushy. Good luck! I love, love, love to make stuffing.
  17. Tonight I am making spicy shrimp (lightly poached first) with creamy Cheddar grits. Unsure of the side but perhaps caramelized butternut squash or a slaw with apple cider vinaigrette. Actually, methinks wilted greens with bacon is a better idea.
  18. Yes!! How much...uh...phlegm can one person have???! One more winter is right. YAY!! Along the Croatian coast it can snow a bit but some years they do not even get a hard frost. Their idea of "winter" is hilarious.
  19. Not silly at all. I catered a gluten-free wedding this year (just for 20 pax) and the desserts were excruciatingly expensive. I felt bad when time came for payment but I explained in advance it would *not* be cheap.
  20. Actually, a celiac doctor in Canada said at a lecture I attended to request 11+ biopsies and even at this seemingly high number it could still be missed. She looks at biopsy reports completed by other physicians herself and said a low percentage are done and/or read correctly. But at least yours took 8, rather than a paltry 2 or 3.
  21. I bet you don't! A whole lot of ick but it is to get up to 2 in a few days.
  22. Oh, how I wish I could! I see your temps have "dipped" down a ton! :-P
  23. Croissants are such fun to make. Fiddly but worth it. This thread has inspired me to make the recipe Abby posted.
  24. Thanks! Safe but not pleased. It literally hurts to be practically wrenched from our home. Remember how I said I was sick? Turned out to be a big, fat and snotty cold. Still have it, actually, but am much better. Now I have a lot of threads to catch up on...
  25. Make some cornbread and definitely toast it. That makes a huge difference. Or homemade bread so you can tear it into large thick chunks then toast or at least allow to dry on the counter a few days.
