  1. Plump ricotta gnocchi with two sauces - homemade tomato and fresh basil and a creamy roasted garlic Parmesan sauce. Homemade Italian breadsticks. Nuthin for dessert as we are being rather gluttonous tonight.
  2. Thanks! I like the name too. :-) Snacks: pepperoni sticks ( may contain mustard - not sure) - yes, it is meat, but mention it is for medical reasons if questioned. - little tins of flavoured (or plain) tuna - buns - Skittles candy (my favourite) - nuts and dried fruits - Caramilk bars - homemade potato or sweet potato chips - a spork
  3. We travel internationally regularly and I have eaten many gluten-free meals on flights. Only one has been tasty and palatable thus far. But so far I have not been glutened. As the food is so gross, I bring along lots of snacks. We experience frequent delays and airports are very tricky so again, snacks come in handy. About a year ago, flying from Canada...
  4. I am glad you are able to get out for some fun. Distractions really help when ill or in pain.
  5. Welsh Rarebit! Can't get enough of it.
  6. Are you feeling better today?
  7. Apple cider maple braised pork shoulder with unctuous jus Roasted garlic and grainy mustard whipped potatoes with crispy shallots Roasted broccoli with lemon aioli and capers
  8. Yes, definitely better toasted. It is not even remotely similar to the real thing but that is how it is with gluten free bread. I will never, ever forget gluten breads. Did I already mention Simona's Challah bread recipe here? I am a picky and very experienced baker and hers is the best I have tried. Better texture, you can form it with your hands, great...
  9. Awesome to have your church's support. I do as well at mine. Made me giggle when you said a small church of 200. Our church is the same and it is huge compared to all other churches I have attended. The last one before we moved here was about 40 - very rural indeed. We do not have mega churches like the U.S. but our population is far smaller. Cool...
  10. Although it is -20 outside, I craved a smoothie. So, I made a strawberry, banana and peach one - so thick it was akin to soft ice cream.
  11. Reprieve from eating less than healthily lately...I am making authentic Greek salad with an unctuous dressing. Just a big old bowl of goodness. Tomorrow braising pork.
  12. After posting, I realized I had a moment. , dumb guy. is NOT in your future!
  13. Yay for me! Open Original Shared Link
  14. This will be me if I don't .
  15. We are having fish (cod) and chips and battered onion rings with unctuous (just had to!) tartar sauce chock full with capers. Maybe after dinner I will have to try to do some flirting of my own, seeing how Irish managed to get hit on wearing her teeny tiny pink polka dot bikini! GUY... IRISH...
  16. But...but that is what I am! Pure as driven snow. I should know - we have enough of it!
  17. For shame! *That* did not even cross my mind...tee hee hee...
  18. Just don't call it French bread or baguette and it will be ok! :-) At least it will be the right shape...
  19. Thank goodness it's not just me! I have about 208 different wobbly bits and a couple of tight bits.
  20. 87? 51? 20s? Trying to make those of us with -35 jealous? I saw photos of people in LA all bundled up in puffy coats which made me laugh out loud. I would be walking around with a bikini. Well, with a sarong to cover up my wobbly bits but still. They have absolutely no clue what cold is!!!
  21. This recipe is quite good but just do not expect the texture and chew of a good baguette! That is sadly impossible without gluten. I like to add herbs and Parmesan to this recipe.
  22. OK. Searing is out of the question as you need a piping hot pan. BTW, I would really, really, REALLY recommend getting a cast iron skillet as it is so multi-purpose. I use mine for everything from cornbread to roasting a chicken (which is far better than using a roaster as those basically steam as opposed to roast) to roasting veg to cooking on the stovetop...
  23. Huh. And here I thought I was pretty normal...
  24. It is very easy to make gluten-free cookies, brownies, muffins, cakes, etc. using substitutions (often 1:1) BUT for bread it is an entirely different story. I make my own bread, cinnamon rolls, English muffins, etc. but also have a freezer with at least 20 kinds of flours/starches. If you want to skip the icky bread recipes, head straight to Simona's Challah...
