I always answer the question with a bit of humor Q: "So you're on a gluten free diet now"? A: "LOL.... It's not like I have a choice! But, I also can't complain about my results" ~Wheatfreedude~

Most of the time, we focus on Pre-workout shakes and Post-workout shakes. But, don't forget your before bedtime shake. You actually build muscle while you are sleeping. Make sure your body has a nice dosing of protein powder while you are sawing some Z's! It works. ~Wheatfreedude~

My day is made! And I haven't even had this posting up for but 12 hours. Keep the stories flowing in. I'm going to incorporate as many as possible. And, I already have a publisher for the book. Thank you all! ~Wheatfreedude~ -
Optimum Nutrition is Good To Go. I bet I've been using their product for 3+ years now. I literally have three tubs sitting in my office right now. (2 are empty and I need to get them to the recycling bin) ~Wheatfreedude~

Being diagnosed as a Celiac has changed my life... in a good way! I feel healthier now than ever before. I've shed weight, increased the intensity of my work outs, added muscle, and leaned-up tremendously. Screw gluten!!! Since my transformation, friends and family have encouraged me to write a book and I am half way through it actually. Are... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free For 2 Years...gained So Much Weight
Wheatfreedude replied to TiffanyB's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Tiffany: Nearly 20 years ago, I did a study on all of the new Fat-Free food items that were infiltrating the marketplace. The "likes" of Entemann's suddenly had fat-free cookies/brownies/coffee cake. Consumers flocked to these items, because "hey, they are fat free and I can eat as many as I want..... Right?". Well, they may have been fat free... -

ARCHIVED "you Look Run-Down"
Wheatfreedude replied to JustLovely9216's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am just stating a fact. I attend two major Vegetarian trade shows each year (and have done so for the past 10+ years). Dozens upon dozens of healthy eating people who eat wholesome low protein diets walk the show floor. A VAST majority of the attendees and exhibitors look "run down". (Pale skin, dark circles under their eyes, fine hair, not-so-white... -
ARCHIVED Dannon/activa Yogurt

And, they have it at Costco in a club pack. Throw a medley of berries in there first thing in the morning (blueberry, blackberry, raspberry). It's packed with protein too! ~Wheatfreedude~ -
ARCHIVED Any Campers, Backpackers, Hikers Out There?
Wheatfreedude replied to Lostfalls's topic in Sports and Fitness
The Boy Scouts taught me some of the basics that I still use to this day. With that said, bring along a roll of aluminum foil. Stop at a farmers market/produce stand and load up on the usual suspects (potatoes, onions, celery, mushrooms, spices). Stop at a club store (SAM'S or Costco) and grab a bag of frozen fish fillets. The fillets are individually... -

Hmmmm.... Why am I not seeing any major protein sources in your diet? Granted, you'll get some protein from the peanuts and almond. But, your body needs protein to build muscle, look healthy, and operate correctly. If you are a vegetarian (I didn't see anything in your signature), then you'll need to find some meat free protein sources. If you're... -
I used to be a VP at a food company, and I'll tell you that we used to reply to any/all emails and phone calls. With that said, ALWAYS play it safe and call the manufacturer. Ask them specifically about a product. Sometime, they may have an item that contains wheat and they will subsequently suggest an alternative product. We used to do it all of the...

Ooops! I forgot to tell you about all of the high protein dairy items that you can eat between meals (presuming that you don't have a dairy allergy) - Non-Fat Greek Yogurt - Low Fat Cottage Cheese - Low fat String Cheese There's three snacks for today alone. And all of the above pair well with fresh fruit (apples, berries, grapefruit) ~Wheatfreedude...

ARCHIVED Dannon/activa Yogurt
Wheatfreedude replied to dally099's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would like to make a comment on the above, while staying on subject regarding yogurt. Per Ravenwoodglass, opt for the least amount of ingredients. But, look out for hidden sweeteners (Dannon Activa contains fructose syrup). I'm just pointing this out as you asked the board whether the rest of us would consider eating this item. My opinion is to... -

Congrats on the new gluten-free lifestyle and visual results. If you truly are a Celiac, now is the time for you body to start absorbing the nutrients that it wasn't getting. Time to help it along with two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen! While you are in the early stages of your transition, your next habit needs to be a minimum of 80 ounces... -
ARCHIVED Can't Quench My Appitite
Wheatfreedude replied to SuzyVandy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
AMEN on the above! To keep satiated shop the Golden Horseshoe of the store -- produce, meat, fish, and dairy (if you can). And if you need a snack, try low salt/no salt almonds. You get the good fat, fiber and protein. ~Wheatfreedude~ -
My head usually looks AND feels like one of those balloons in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. LOL! Literally, I feel like I have a head cold. When this happens, glass after glass of water is your best cure. I typically don't add ice as it's easier for me to guzzle when it's not too cold. Knock on wood... I haven't had that experience in months...

ARCHIVED What Should I Be Looking For In Salad Dressing?
Wheatfreedude replied to lischro's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Kudos to Lisa and GlutenFreeMama for recommending gluten free salad dressings that are also ALL NATURAL. Please, please, please.... do not get me wrong. If you are comfortable with Kraft's items and they are working for you, continue to use them. I simply know that there is a rather large group on this board that don't like to eat items with ingredients... -
No worries, you can actually buy roasted vegetables in a shelf stable jar. And they heat up in the microwave in a matter of seconds. You'll be amazed what type of flavor it will add. Now, get the big pot out and start boiling the incredible, edible eggs! ~Wheatfreedude~

I'm not sure how all of you are, but I shop the "Golden Horseshoe" now more than ever. For those of you unfamiliar with the jargon, it's the perishables sections on the back three parameters of a grocery store. (Dairy, Produce, Seafood, Meat, Eggs, etc.) Each Sunday night, I fire up my grill so that I have my grilled meats for my lunches for the week...

I have two solutions for you, both at separate ends of the spectrum. EASY: Go to Costco and buy the 98% Fat Free Natural Sliced Oven-Roasted Turkey Breast (Three Pack, 14 grams per package, is only $8.99). Two slices pack 10 grams of protein and only 1 gram of fat! When I'm feel particularly lazy, I take the top of the package and cut it into ten quadrants...
