  1. Yes yes Yes! Do you have the lab results? If they did not test you for IgA (total) and then tested you for the celiac antibodies that are also IgA, you could have a false negative if your IgA is deficient. Definitely false negatives are common. You may also have a non-celiac form of gluten intolerance that causes similar symptoms but does NOT show up...
  2. That's how I took it Thanks for all your thoughts. I showed this to my husband who declared that he was getting a hot plate and moving to the basement! We have so little gluten in the house but I think he would be amenable to dropping it. It may also explain recently when I have felt "unwell" and couldn't pin point the cause. I bet it was a time I ate...
  3. THanks! I have been basically eating NO processed foods nor grains The gluten in my kitchen is literally englush muffins and the occasional sandwich bread. I have separate toaster (but am not even really eating bread at all). Nothing else has changed, it was only the stupid spoon and the reaction started that day. Slowly feeling better but still very...
  4. Soooooooooooo, I am having a debate with my husband and family. I have never had GI symptoms with celiac before I was diagnosed except weight loss and poor appetite...But no D or C or pain or bloating or anything. I am gluten-free since August. Last Wed. I licked a spoon that I used to spread almond butter on an english muffin for my husband. OK, stupid but...
  5. OMG...First, I am So sorry you are going through this!!! And second, I am a celiac with cast iron stomach. I NEVER had GI issues except weight loss before diagnosis. I'm what they call a neurological celiac, all my sypmtoms were nerve related...Last Wednesday I stupidly licked a spoon that I used to spread almond butter on my husbands english muffin. I have...
  6. I developed terrible insomnia (ie not sleeping for days) and now that I am gluten-free I have little trouble sleeping...
  7. I see from your posts that we share many similar symptoms. It is validating, although I do not wish this nerve pain and "head madness" on anyone! I tried so hard to get that Newbie to see where she's headed if she does not stop the gluten assault...maybe your post will help drive it home. Like you, I wish someone had told me about celiac disease years ago. I hope you are feeling better ever...

  8. OK my one digestive symptom was nausea...and then, if you reread my post, it all went down hill from there. i licked a spoon on wednesday that I used to spread almond butter on an english muffin for my husband and I have been a disaster ever since. I was lying fetal on the floor wednesday night, in so much nerve pain and my guts are still a mess....my poor...
  9. I think the non stick pans and wood can be scratched, so if they are used with gluten containing food, the chance of cross contamination can he high PS there ARE no stupid questions when it comes to this! we are all here to learn and help each other, so never worry about that
  10. It is daunting, that's for sure...I do feel for you although I do want to poke your husband hard for not being supportive. Not eating in restaurants is not the tragedy that people think it is. .I spent 6 months fetal on a couch, in agony and nerve pain, suffered suicidal depression and lost 30 pounds without trying. I couldn't walk around the block without...
  11. i second what Roda says...it can take years to heal...not to freak you out but this does not happen quickly.give yourself time to heal...
  12. and unfortunately you cannot make anyone do things they don't want to...i was clearly sick for a LONG time without symptoms since the damage was so horrendous but if I had known sooner, I maybe could have avoided the HELL i am in right now. When it hit, it hit me hard and I was 42. Thought I would end up in a wheelchair from neurological symptoms. This diagnosis...
  13. Stuck the spoon in my mouth, ate the stuff and then literally started SWEARING. I have had those dreams! Lat week I dreamt that I was at my niece's house and she was giving me belgian waffles and cake and I didn't want to eat it but did anyway. It is just so frustrating because the Dr's don't know what to do (not blaming them at all but it is a fact) and...
  14. So I am gluten-free about 7 months. Have been on a very low carb diet and started drinking soy milk (organic/non gmo) and my neuro symptoms seem to have gone rampant. So today, I am making breakfast for my husband, a toasted english muffin with almond butter. I dropped the almond butter onto each half so I wouldn't contaminate the almond butter...I spread...
  15. my two cats eat grain free food, so it is totally safe for us!!
  16. really, hopefully no cat poo in my future...still having the nerve effects but the anxiety and depression is SO much better. I remember (as I am sure all of you do) when it was SO simple and now everything is so complicated and just a big science experiment, where we are the rats in the cages...
  17. the soy i bought was organic, non gmo and i am still convinced that it did me harm that I am still feeling the after effects of...so i am not willing to risk it for now...at least i know it is a possibility and i am so tenuous anyway that i am happy to wave b-bye to it!
  18. wow, soy is dumped!!! which is too bad because I really liked the soy milk whatever. I liked pizza and fresh french bread too and look where THAT got me!!! Hopefully the cat poop is NOT in my future now that I may see that soy is a culprit. Will be interesting to see if there is improvement tomorrow
  19. thanks!! luckily with this guy, i am seeing how to eat little to no processed food, so it shouldn't be too hard...i was SO depressed yesterday and the cloud has lifted today with no soy. I will do whatever it takes. Before I knew what was wrong, I would say to my Dr that I would eat cat s*&t if it made me feel better. thank goodness for this place...
  20. Can I say that I hate this disease? Oh I hear nobody chiming up and saying they love it.... My biggest problems have been nerve pain, neuropathy and depression and anxiety. Much of it is resolving on the gluten-free diet, although the nerve stuff is still not great. I don't think my nerve problems are diet related. I actually think I may get "flare ups...
  21. Hi Debbie Good for you to get her tested!!! It isn't what you want to hear, but I am saying yeah, she has celiac. THose results look to be really high and from what I ahve read, the chance of flase positives that high is exceedingly rare. That being said, I do not know what concurrent autoimmune diseases may cause to happen to those results, but my TTG...
  22. I wanna come eat at your house!!!
  23. The Fe and D and low, often seen in Celiac. I BELIEVE (do not know much about it though) that the celiac specific blood tests can be unreliable in small children. Did you have an endoscopy? I presume that celiac -like symptoms brought you to the Dr.? May be worht removing gluten and see if it helps...
  24. i lost about 30 pounds last summer before I was diagnosed, all in about 5 months. I have since put at least 20 back on since last September...which I guess means that I am absorbing calories again, so am trying to not stress about it!
  25. ravenwoodglass, YOU give us all hope with your story!!!!
