  1. Hi - this post got me interested.... I ran a google search - With these two 'words': "hyperimmunoglobulinemia" AND "IgA" It gave me this page of URLS - hopefully, you'll find your answer somewhere in there... Open Original Shared Link If that link won't work, just go to google.com and enter those two terms, to pull up that search...
  2. Hi - I have not heard of a too high 'overall' IgA... I have only heard of that test result being a problem if one's body isn't producing IgA antibodies, and therefore it skews the other test results - but, it is ouside the norm, so I suppose there is reason for worry...at least your level is not too far from the norm... Anyway...I hope you can find...
  3. Sounds like you created a great menu...just enjoy yourself now! >^..^< (me, in a cat costume...)
  4. Hi, Lynne. Nice to know your name Just jumping in to say that and, I don't see how you could have offended Claire ...? (Besides, she doesn't seem like the type to take offense quickly...) LOVE, Gina
  5. WELCOME! First: Your son obviously has a Mommy who will try her best to keep him safe! LUCKY BOY! OK, so - here's what I have to add: Keep it simple at first... For instance....don't try to learn more than the basics ....and don't go too far overboard on buying gluten-free products...I have so many now that I will need to freeze...
  6. Dear friends :-) Hi, again! OK - first, thanks for the feedback and continued sharing. I, like all of us one here, feel thankful to have this place to learn and share - Yesterday, I was where I was - Today, I am here: I plan to go without dairy and sugar (including the usual nightly glass of red wine) for one month, during which time I will...
  7. I was 47, when I self - diagnosed in January '05, and when I was officially diagnosed in Feb 05 - I went through 2 decades of severe problems. I am SO happy for those that got diagnosed earlier in life , and I am also SO happy that I finally found out what was 'wrong with me'... Love, Gina
  8. Hi, again This may be long, as I want to list out my experience at the doc's yesterday....but I'll try to make it informative and worth your time...at the end! (In other words...some of you may want to skip ahead...) Well - I saw my GI yesterday - The appt wasn't the best, in my opinion, but it wasn't the worst, either - I reluctantly give him...
  9. George! I am so glad that I checked this thread before leaving for my appt :-) I found the following info, amongst other links, when I googled for the test: 1) This test is a powerful and non-invasive assessment of small intestinal absorption and barrier function in the bowel. Leaky Gut is the name of the syndrome describing an unfavorable increase...
  10. Hi Kaite, and welcome! Just one comment from me, right now - I have been learning that soy, and corn, have also been linked to villi damage...so, prepare yourself for the possibility that you may need to get those out of your diet, too... If you haven't already, you may want to check out this thread that I started with my questions about dairy/casein...
  11. Interesting posts - Glad to see many of us continuing our 'studies' and sharing so much. Matilda - I love Kefir...used to drink it years ago... BTW, I just today read the book about the SCD (specific carbohydrate diet), and saw the part about yogurt. But...I am now too afraid to think that I can have any dairy, even though I haven't even given...
  12. Funny, funny...you must be a guy ? Hey...I thought I'd throw some more comic relief into the middle of this casein thread... Check out the movie section here: Open Original Shared Link I bet he doesn't eat gluten and casein... Enjoy!
  13. Wow...not sure what to tell you, Stephanie, other than 'knowledge is power'... I hope you, too, will find all of the answers you need to find your way out of your maze, and into the light of vibrant good health. Love, Gina
  14. Thanks, cornbread...interesting site. Pardon me now, as I cannot help but ask this... Have you thought of changing your ID to "ricebread" Hope that got a giggle Thanks, again. Smiles, Gina
  15. Hi - I too "have ADD" - I was diagnosed in late 30's - I am 48. I have been gluten-free since 1/1/05, but my ADD did not 'go away' - It improved, but it did not go away - Perhaps because there is some brain damage from gluten?, as my brain was forming - perhaps the neurotransmitters become accustomed to, or grow to accomodate the morphine-like...
  16. Thanks! I'll ask my GI doc to order them. Gina
  17. Thanks for the new posts. George - two things: 1) I think that you, and others who tagged on, are probably right about my not being able to safely consume casein once I have had a positive antibody test...and since it it so similar to gluten. I will keep researching, but everything I am now finding seems to tell me to forget about it... Another reason...
  18. Hi, ALL (George, Tiffany, Clair, and cornbread ;-) ) Thanks for all of the info - It's seeming obvious to me that I need to let go of casein, for the time being... I will have to set a target date for myself as to when to do so. 1/1/05 was the day I went gluten-free, so maybe 1/1/06 should be my CF date... that way, I can begin to...
  19. Hi, All, Sorry to be a while in tagging on again - About meds - SSRI's in particular - and whether or not they are necessary for some: The answer seems, to me, to be a VERY obvious "Yes." - as some people must have them to remain 'able' - because Science has not found all of the answers yet. The reasons I feel the answer is "YES" : Researchers...
  20. Hi - Lots of questions below - feel free to pick and choose, if you know anything... I am totally in the dark on casein antibodies and if they can go down, etc, even though I tried HARD to google for info: Anyway.... I was told by Enterolab, back in Feb, that I had a positive sensitivity to casein. I only went gluten-free...have put off...
  21. Hi - No, I have not had happen to me exactly what you had happen to you, but I did go gluten-free before getting a biopsy, only because I never thought I would agree to a biopsy in the first place, since I had already had WAY too many invasive tests - and I had read that biopsies can also produce false negatives - they can be performed incorrectly, and...
  22. 0- here... 'the universal donor' ... I can give my blood to ANYONE, but I can only get blood from other 0- peps... preferrably only gluten-free 0- peps ;-) Gina
  23. Hi, Lizzy, Thanks for the update. I am sorry that your doc was rude. Obviously, she must be one of those docs who are NOT in 'the doctoring biz' to be loving... Please try to see a GOOD GI, if you have a choice of docs - If you can choose, perhaps you can post here, ON A NEW THREAD, asking if anyone knows of a good GI doc in your area? There is...
  24. That should be your last apology for asking questions here ;-) There is never a need to apologize for your questions - Love, Gina
  25. Hi. Mel - Can I assume that everything else Enterolab tested for came out negative? If so, this result means that Enterolab found IgA antibodies to gliadin in your stool. I have read on another post here from an RN who works at the lab, that as long as you test positive for IgA, it doesn't matter what the number (11 or 19 or 150) , because it means that...
