Vydor - I see that you and I, both, were trying to right 'the wrong' we saw... Hopefully Ursula will understand that it is important to never see anything in 'black or white' mode...that is a very dangerous stance to choose. Love, Gina

SSRI's are used to treat chemical imbalances - specifically, to treat a low level of seratonin - a neurotransmitter. SSRI simply means "Selective seratonin reuptaje inhibitor" - what that means: SSRIs allow your body to re-use it's own seratoni a bit more before it is broken down, as it naturally is, and 'taken-back up'... SSRIs give them same effects...

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Here Taken...
FaithInScienceToo replied to Danijela's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Danijela - Not sure if you'll get this during your prep, or after your tests - Anyway, I hated the prep for the endoscopy/colonoscopy - I threw up from it, and then I had to send my boyfriend out for more 'stuff' from the local pharmacy. I got very little sleep that night, as I had to wait for the add'l stuff to work. But, it was OK... ... -
ARCHIVED Any Other Tall Celiacs Out There?
FaithInScienceToo replied to LqrMan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi, Rob. I am 48, 5'8 3/4"...117 lbs only...trying to put on some muscle weight... Although I was a very picky eater as a kid (and skinny), and suffered many tummy-aches, I was obsessed with milk...I would 'steal it' from the fridge even! My mother ended up telling me I wasn't allowed to have any milk until I ate my dinner...which usually had gluten... -
So do I... I am 48, though, and have thought that the night sweats were just part of what to expect now... Anyone try a soy supplement yet? I am thinking of trying Revival. I think I am perpetually dehydrated now, too, due to the night sweats - I wake in a pool of water - I have even put a waterproof liner under my sheets to protect...

ARCHIVED Celiac Disease Or Difference?
FaithInScienceToo replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Unfortunately, yes, I do see this as 'a disease' ... For the following reasons: 1) My body HAS been damaged...and in ways that will not go back 'to normal'...ADD, and a very poor memory for details, for instance...not to mention the lack of muscles over my lifetime...yes, I can put some muscle back on, but I will never reach my full potential, had I... -

ARCHIVED Number Of People On The Board
FaithInScienceToo replied to jaimek's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
I, too, spent time just reading before posting - it was enough to try to learn how to be gluten-free... But, now I mostly just try to be supportive, and share what I can - I have had A LOT of time on my hands in the past month or so, as I have been recovering from some serious surgery. I go back to my old schedule this coming week, so won... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Somewhat Ashamed...
FaithInScienceToo replied to GIJane's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
These posts are simply beautiful, and this thread has impacted me more than any other - I am now going to send it to my boyfriend...so that he can understand better the effects of Celiac Disease on those who had to suffer before diagnosis, and who now fear being glutened post-diagnosis. He is very good about my having to protect myself but I think... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Ataxia (only)?
FaithInScienceToo replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
First, butt in anytime around here...one never knows when a symptom you have may be one others have already researched...or are also worried about...and therefore needs researching... Unfortunately, I don't know anything about this...nor do I have this symptom, even though I am 48 - I do wear glassses, though - trifocals - and have been in them since before... -

Glad that you, too, are finding this thread to be useful ...it's just invaluable to get to hear from so many people - to learn about the true extent of how gluten has poisoned each of us... and to be able to share knowledge, and emotions. We are all very lucky that technology (the Net) can help us help ourselves, and each other. Best wishes, Gina -

ARCHIVED Feeling Somewhat Ashamed...
FaithInScienceToo replied to GIJane's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
First, THANK YOU SO MUCH for this post. You are courageous to face the FULL reality of 'having a life-time disease'... YES...I, too, went through emotional fall-out from my celiac disease, and I still do, although it is nothing compared to how it was before going gluten-free. Our biochemistry is 'unrelentingly' linked to our emotions - Yes, once we... -

ARCHIVED New With Questions Regarding Lab Work
FaithInScienceToo replied to flo127's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, Flo - I see you have yet to 'master' the 2 reply option buttons ;-) That happens a lot... If you want to use part of another's reply, use the 'reply' button that has the little quote marks on it - and it you want to delete part of that info, just go into that and edit it out, after you click on the ["reply] button... For instance, in your first... -
ARCHIVED New With Questions Regarding Lab Work
FaithInScienceToo replied to flo127's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi. I am surprised no one else has answered this post yet... I will try to help, but I tend to shy-away from this type of question, as others on here seem to be more up on this blood-test stuff, or have the info more readily at hand to share it... Anyway...Let's see...your results were: Gliadin Ab.,IgA 33.9 EU Limits<25.0 and the lab your... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Ataxia (only)?
FaithInScienceToo replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Just tagging on what I found while playing around with PubMed...I plugged in "celiac" and "Ataxia" in their search field - From this particular result (which gave the full article), Open Original Shared Link I am copying/pasting part of it: "The most common clinical presentation is iron-deficiency anemia due to both iron malabsorption and occult... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Ataxia (only)?
FaithInScienceToo replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Claire! I want to add my THANKS for this info and thanks, also, to George for the other forum info! My Dad has both neuropathy and ataxia, and my gene (DQ8) is most likely from his ethnic heritage. This helps me understand what else I am preventing by being 100% gluten-free! BTW.... There are more articles listed under the drop-down menu in the ... -

FaithInScienceToo replied to EvilGut's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Chocolate donuts?...I haven't had one in about a year... BUT...I ordered some recently, on-line! :-) GLUTEN-FREE! Glazed! I hope they'll taste 'normal' ...I go to my PO box tomorrow ...and will taste one soon... Actually, I probably eat less sugar now that I am gluten-free, and that's GOOD :-) I will probably eat ONLY ONE donut and feeze the... -
ARCHIVED Really Celiac?
FaithInScienceToo replied to alyblazey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for pointing that out, BT - I didn't find out about 'having' celiac disease until age 47 1/2 (9 months ago)...after at least 20 years of 'it,' I will have to be more patient with my body...and hopeful that 2 years from now, I can put on muscle weight more easily ;-) Gina
