FaithInScienceToo replied to Danijela's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, again, Danijela :-) (Is that your real name, or only your ID, btw?) One thing just came to me - have you had tests for thyroid dysfunction, or thyroid autoimmune disease? Just want to be sure you mention that to your doc, too - because it can be related to gluten problems also, and also to your list of symptoms - Anyway - I'm glad that the... -

ARCHIVED How Much You Wanna Bet....
FaithInScienceToo replied to EvilGut's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have read that food cravings and weight gain can be symptoms, and I saw a research article recently showing that out of the biopsy-confirmed Celiacs, that about 22% were overweight. Now that I think of it...although I was a picky eater as a kid, due to tummy aches, I had food cravings and weight gain in my young 20's (I went from a healthy 135 to 15... -

Hi, All - I have only read half of the posts here so far...because I began to get tears in my eyes... I hope all of us find our way out of our mazes. I know I have much more to learn about championing my own health beyond simply going gluten-free... There is more to know, to truly protect one's health from our sick society's dependence on quick... -
My older sister is severely bipolar, and my father's twin sister is also bipolar. Just to add on a bit more... The Celiac gene I have (DQ-8) is the one most likely found in my father's ethnic background (English and Czech). My mother is 100% Irish. I have been diagnosed "ADD", which statistically runs higher in families with Bi-polar illness and...

I am glad that you are determined to keep your son gluten-free, if that is what he needs to remain healthy! Personally, I have ONLY one problem now - that is, making sure I find out if my boyfriend's mouth is "Celiac-friendly" before kissing him... I imagine that your son has many years ahead before he needs to worry about 'safe kissing'. ;-) Anyway... -

ARCHIVED Wall Street Journal Article Re Reflux
FaithInScienceToo replied to Nevadan's topic in Publications & Publicity
Gotta 'third' that one... I, too, was diagnosed 'with reflux,' but have none, zilch, ZERO now, 9 1/2 months after going gluten-free ... One of my younger brothers also was diagnosed 'with reflux,' and is getting tested next month, after i told him it is one of the symptoms of celiac disease. Now, if I can only get my four other siblings to get tested... -

WOW, Agnostic - Syria... Let's see...what can I say now to help? ...focus on what you CAN have.... Fresh fruits and veggies...raw, steamed... PURE spices ONLY! FaithInScienceToo replied to NYCisTHEplaceTObe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
WOW... Bad GI doc IF he never bothered to run a simple "celiac blood panel" ... IF you never got the tests... Get yourself back to your FP and tell them you MUST have another blood draw, and it MUST be sent to a lab that can test you for celiac disease, via 'a celiac blood panel' - this includes these 4 bloods tests (Serologic Tests): AGA (IgA... -

Hi, Agnostic! Welcome. I am not sure that you said you want to cheat...it's just that you used an exclamation point about 'it being impolite' to watch others eat and not partake...so, 'we' want to be sure that you know that cheating is simply 'not an option'...as another member said, "When in doubt, do without!" Hi, Debbie, Welcome, and thanks for sharing SO much about your health history and why you suspect celiac disease in yourself. I find it WONDERFUL that your doc thinks the blood tests alone will be suffificient...that he would not 'make' you do an endoscopy. Still, I have seen posters on here who say they have had 'negative blood work, positive biopsy...
