  1. Why do you need a diagnosis? Just curious. You could just have her be gluten-free for a few weeks and when it clears up you'll have your answer. It has got to be tough dealing with the gluten-free life with two kids though. You have my respect for sure!
  2. Having beer dumped on me is a nightmare of mine! O_o I have a lot of meetings for work in bars so it is a definite hazard! O_o I make up some gluten-free pasta salad when going to a concert. then eat it afterwords. It is hearty and sustains me and I don't have to worry.
  3. That just means it is up to us to get the word out about this stuff and how bad it is for folks. And that gluten-free is not dangerous to anyone but big pharma and big wheat) I like to use the pizza test. I tell people to pay attention to how they feel a day or two after they eat pizza. If they are lethargic and awful feeling more than usual they might...
  4. I don't know how to bake for squat but I would buy one for sure! I think its a good idea!
  5. I envision that my avatar is thoroughly decontaminating all of the cookware to ensure no CC. I like the pumpkin head, but I have a thing for pirates so I am totally biased. Now that you mention it is you as a triangle man I totally see it. I always thought it was odd that someone would have a pizza avatar on a Celiac site. I just thought you...
  6. rdunbar- Wow...how much did they charge you to tell you there is nothing wrong with you... I'm just morbidly curious... That is rollercoaster ride of a life for sure! 4 years in the pits of hell! So glad you are feeling better now!
  7. You are very welcome GFinDC! Your Pizzaman freaks me out though! But I think its in a good way.
  8. I agree with your Naturopath, at least from everything listed here. 3 months is solid but you should begin to see improvement within the first few days with as severe as your stomach symptoms are. So take some comfort in that. Get off the gluten. You will live a longer, healthier life for it and be amazed at all the little things that clear up that you...
  9. Lara bars are really good and good for you made from dates, nuts and spices, no refined anything. They run anywhere from $1 to $2 depending on where you live. I buy mine in bulk from the Organic Pharmacy online and stock up several months. Both my husband and I eat them every day.
  10. That's because everyone has a problem with gluten. And if the people start to figure this out then big pharma and big wheat have a problem don't they? I expect a hardcore backlash from here on out. Unfortunately people are fed up with doctors and pills and so when they discover through word of mouth that a simple change in diet can fix their major ailments...
  11. Thank you for all of your input and ideas everyone! I will pass on the info and hopefully it will help make things easier for him. That blog is awesome! Very helpful to a beginner in this. Wish I'd have found it whilst doing my initial research. Ah well, reading nearly every thread on this forum was eye opening as well. Lots of real life experiences...
  12. Hurray! Glad to hear you are feeling so much better. It's like getting a second chance at life isn't it?
  13. *Spits out water* What?!?!!? Please scan this abomination in for the rest of us to read. Gluten Intolerance is a psychological disorder regarding wanting to control food... So it isn't enough that we have to suffer living in a gluten filled world but now they want to paint us as crazy too? What an insult.

    ARCHIVED Sick Of Being Ignored

Gotta love the double jointed explanation. Wow. How utterly useless. If it wasn't such a serious topic some of these malpractice responses would be comical. I'm working on finding a local Naturopath myself. I know that they are more interested in looking at the whole you rather than pushing pills like an M.D. They can order stool, saliva, and blood...
  15. Yes. Be angry. The same doctor for 25 years and he just dismisses you? Be beyond angry. I'd start with a conversation with them. A conversation. Not an appointment. If anything he should be paying you for the information. After 25 years of mistreatment it is the least he can do. The sending of articles is also a good way to go. Someone has to start educating...
  16. I have a friend who I know could benefit from going gluten-free (Couldn't everyone?) and he wants to give it a go but needs some help with what he can eat (brands and so forth). Obviously fruits, veggies, rice, potatos and meats are gluten-free but he has two young kids and so there will need to be the Fruity Pebbles and the like around, at least in the initial...
  17. Scary when you think about the implications isn't it? Certainly not unprecedented for a culture to eat a poison though that is for sure. Yes she does. And I'm glad my signature made you smile. That was it's intended purpose. All this gluten stuff can get so serious sometimes, and for good reason, but a smile now and again is also just what the Internet...
  18. Just thought I'd post Dr. Vikki's response to this load of... It mirrors my own.
  19. It is frustrating to watch family and friends have problems with this stuff and not be able to get through to them. Especially the kids, who don't know any better and trust Mom and Dad to know what is food and what is a poison. I do very much sympathize.

    ARCHIVED Sick Of Being Ignored

You may want to find a Naturopath and have them check you for secondary infections and parasites. Some of which can mimic gluten symptoms. T.H. You have my respect and condolences.
  21. I know. CC is the devil. Even when we are being good, nope no fun for us. Still...knowing what it feels like to not be sick, to truly not be sick...that is worth the PITA that is this lifestyle. Hands down. You are too cute.
  22. I'm sorry that so many people that should be supportive are not being so. It is a slap in the face sometimes isn't it? *hugs The fact of the matter is that gluten causes different reactions in different people, only a small percentage have Celiac or any digestive complaints at all for that matter. They may instead have their gluten issue manifest...
  23. I would fit into the undiagnosed category, and yes I was diagnosed with depression at 14 years old. 3 months into cutting out gluten and that little black cloud disappeared. Poof! Now crying and sadness are one of my glutening symptoms. I'd go a step further with the iceburg analogy. I highly suspect that the entire ocean has a gluten issue and that...
