  1. After the tingling started I did go look it up online and a list on this site said it was safe as of 2002. I was momentarily releived and then wondered why my hands were tingling. I did not touch my mouth or eat anything and within 10 minutes of contact with the soap I had a headache, joint and muscle pain, and brain fog. All my usual glutening symptoms...
  2. Tingling and numbness started in my hands within 30 seconds of putting it on my skin. Inhaled gluten always gives me a headache/brain fog first followed by joint/muscle pain, so while that could have also happened (inhalation), the fact that it started with tingling in my fingers right off tells me that it was a skin reaction. And then for the rest of...
  3. Hahahaha! Replace "Aunt" with "Mom" and you just glimpsed my life. Thank you, my husband and I laughed out loud reading that. Very "Whos on First." I am currently dealing with this as well. And I'm pissed because I've averaged 8 hours a day worth of in depth research into Gluten for the past 6 months. I think at this point I know a little something...
  4. My husband went gluten-free at the same time as me. Initially it was to be supportive and because he had the same back rash I did. Lo and behold 3 months in his heartburn of 20 years went away. And the back rash is still working its way out (His was really really bad). If he hadn't gone gluten-free with me he would have as soon as I started learning...
  5. With as incompetent as most Doctors are. I think they are trying to kill us all. Gotta hand it to them, they are doing a bang up job!
  6. Just thought I'd let folks know that as of November 2010 Ultra Sunlight Dish Soap is not gluten free. It got me tonight. Disguised itself in a Softsoap container at a friends house. I knew within one minute, no touching my mouth, no open cuts on my hands. So much for it not getting through the skin ne? Hope this helps to spare someone else. ...
  7. I get all over back spasms. In fact its funny that you should ask because I'm having them now. Got glutened by soap that was mislabeled at a friends house tonight. Didn't eat anything or touch my mouth afterwards but I've got all the symptoms now, achy back spasms, foggy brain, headaches, cold hands. Within minutes of washing them too. But you...
  8. It is stories like this that confirm my suspicions that everyone is gluten intolerant. Chances are very good that if Mother and Mother in law go gluten-free they will see improvements in their health too. Same goes for you and your husband. My condolences on having so many sick kids at once though! Wow! You are not harming them by going gluten-free, you...
  9. I can only share my cousin's story about soy protein isolate. She suffered migraines for 10 years, finally did her own research and found a link to MSG. So she started cutting it out of her diet and her headaches got much better and so did her food cravings. She then found this protein bar that she got addicted to. She would get headaches when...
  10. Easily $400 a month for my husband and I. All organic and local when possible, both of us gluten free and only eating free range meats. Our Larabar habit is a killer, as between the two of us we go through 4 boxes a month. O_o 64 Larabars! However, we no longer eat out once a week (Or at all really), so that is $35-$45 that helps to supplement the...
  11. I don't know. The doctors who live and breath this stuff every day telling me that this is what they have found is good enough for me. But if you are really interested in the nitty gritty hard data on the subject you could always send her a message. She seems to be fairly responsive and open to questions but does try to keep things simple on her blog...
  12. Thanks for the info Cutter! It looks like the 3 of you GBers could start a group if there isn't one.
  13. Dr. Vikki had a recent You Tube video about MSG and Gluten. There is a connection in the effects on the body. As a follow up here is her blog post on the subject as well. Open Original Shared Link I've stayed away from it for a while now because it is addictive and I can't pronounce it. Thank goodness for small favors.
  14. I had no choice but to put a mystery to medical science. My finger made me click the button!!! I like being mysterious... Don't know if I have Celiac but I do have other gluten induced auto-immune disorders and I feel like a new person off of that junk! O_o I am self-diagnosed. 23 years of doctors couldn't do what the power of a bit of time...
  15. Except it's not 1% of the populace. It is much, much more. They just don't know it yet.
  16. Give it time, you'll learn. The body and mind have to be completely retrained. And sometimes...sometimes we all have the dumbs. I got a Naked Green Machine a few weeks ago and sucked half of it down before realizing there was Wheat and Barley Grass in it. I thought I was going to have a heart attack! I remembered that the grasses are safe after about...
  17. I whole heartedly agree with this last statement.
  18. To be fair, I was already a hermit before going gluten-free, so it isn't that big of a stretch for me now. I feel safest in my little Cancerian shell. But then again with this brain fog lifted I also feel like being more social while at the same time finding that I'm terrified to touch anything in a gluten filled house/restaurant. It seems like...
  19. Absolutely makes sense. You do what you have to to stay sane. Have you found that FM and Gluten are related in your research? I don't know too much about FM. Thanks!
  20. Ooooh! The raw meat analogy is fabulous. Thank you for that. I've been fortunate in having fairly understanding friends and co-workers but am dreading Christmas. One thing to keep in mind about restaurants is that you might not always be so sensitive. As your gut heals your sensitivity should decrease, provided there are no secondary infections or parasites...
  21. If it helps I think you are not alone. Not by a looooong shot. I've been doing a ton of research and been on lots of forums over the past 5 months and I see a bigger picture. All the things gluten causes in us are also problems for the general populace. IBS Hypothyroid Migraines MS Lupus DH Eczema Bloating Abdominal Pain Excess...
  22. That gives me hope. I feel like I have two ferrets playing around in my intestines most of the time after I eat. It doesn't cause pain often but there is a rumbling and bloated feeling. Crohns, Celiac, as far as I can tell its all a manifestation of Gluten Intolerance. I don't see why you couldn't have both. It's funny because I was looking at cook books...
  23. What does your diet look like? Are there any foods that cause it to be worse or better? I have been dealing with a similar pain for the past month or so and figured out that sugar and chocolate aggravate it. I suspect Candida overgrowth as I have other symptoms of that. Will be going to a competent Dr. in 2 weeks and hopefully get some answers/releif...
  24. Yes, maybe by then I won't be as sensitive to CC and will have healed enough to be able to eat out again, then I could meet at a restaurant. Unfortunately this is a far off dream for me at the moment. Still good to know there are two of you not so far away!
  25. I'm down here in Berlin (West of Oshkosh). But wanted to add to the Wisconsin presence here.
