  1. Hi Loey, I'm sorry to see you are still feeling so bad. I know that at various stages in the healing process our bodies may not be able to handle foods that should be otherwise safe. That could be what is going on with you. Also, this may go without saying, but it is very important to make sure you are drinking enough water, especially this time...
  2. Burt's Bees Whitening Toothpaste has gluten in it. Just for the record. I was using it at the time I realized that I had to be savy about that kind of stuff. Now I use Tom's of Maine instead.
  3. Oooo! I've been looking for alternatives like this! Brown rice pasta gets old after a while. Thank you for posting!
  4. Is your shampoo and conditioner gluten free too? If not that could also be aggravating the problem. Just this weekend I have now officially given up on eating out. But the thing is I don't really miss it. The stuff I make at home is sooo much tastier and less expensive that it isn't worth it on that level, let alone the fact that I ALWAYS get glutened...
  5. Oh...we'd be talking about the big D...and I'm not talking about Diaria. I would have started WW3 if my husband was ever that rude. This is your health, it isn't in your head, Doctors know next to nothing about true health. Make him do a little research on it or tell him to get the hell out of your life. You don't need this kind of aggravation. Especially...
  6. Their raisins are good, free range chicken is acceptable but I prefer FR Smart Chicken by far. Those are two things I've purchased recently. Over all they seem to be hit or miss, it depends on what you are buying.
  7. Wow. You brought your own pasta and they were still that careless. That is messed up. I'd either write a letter or ask to speak with the owner in person (Maybe show him your DH). Tell them that it is fine if they can not cater correctly to people with severe allergies but that they should not say they will and then not follow through. Point out that...
  8. Another Wisconsinite here. I live outside of Berlin. Whereabouts are you? I'm also Casein free for the moment (hopeful that I can reintroduce it after I heal) so living in the beer and cheese state without being able to have them is...well...cruel sometimes. Then I think how happy and fortunate I am to be able to heal myself with something so...
  9. Holy! O_o I'm so sorry. This lifestyle is a hard enough thing, especially as you heal, without having no support from your family. *Hugs* Maybe print out some good articles on Gluten and let your Mom read them? My Mom was trying the gluten-free diet (She has more than a few symptoms) but after 2 months says she hasn't seen much improvement...
  10. Aside from food intolerances it could be secondary infections, amoebas, or parasites. You could go see a Naturopath and see about getting a stool test done. Sometimes the little beasties in our guts can cause similar symptoms to glutenings. The rash, for example, is often seen with an overgrowth of Candida Yeast in the body. Gluten has thrown...
  11. What I'm reading is: And what I'm understanding is: It's all in your head. That being said I do appreciate the thoughtful reply and that you are trying to help, I'm just a little worn on the whole "its strange so it must be made up" line of thought. I'm 4 months into this but have done copious amounts of research in that time (Averaging 10...
  12. I don't think she is talking about intact skin. She is talking about leaky skin being an issue for Celiacs, along the same vein of leaky gut. In which case it shouldn't be much different then having an open wound and pouring beer on it. Lol Dr Vikki has a blog that you can contact her through if you need further clarification on one of the studies or...
  13. I know I can get glutened from scents. Not a doubt in my mind. I walked out of a Walgreens one block away from a Pizza place and started feeling sick (headache again)then I got a good whiff of the Pizza place. My first reaction was Mmmm that smells good and then I went...oh crap I have a headache! Ahhhh! Gluten! *Screamed into the night. Then there...
  14. I know this is an issue that gets debated here on the forums all the time. Some people react to products with gluten in them, some people insist that it is not possible for gluten to get through the skin barrier. What follows are several references sent to me by Dr. Vikki Petersen along with her abridged notes on the topic. I've asked her to write something...
  15. Alright, here are a bunch of studies that Dr. Vikki Petersen sent me dealing with the issue along with her abridged notes on the topic. I've asked her to write something about this in her blog so hopefully she can help humanize it more there. Otherwise this is all very technical. But I understand that a lot of you may understand much of this terminology...
  16. This past weekend I was at a friend's house who is also gluten-free but her husband and some of our friends are not. Half way through the night he made some corn dogs for anyone who wanted them. I have ethical issues eating meat that isn
  17. The Todays THV one made me laugh and cry. The WORST written article I've ever seen in my life. Wow. It seriously reads like something a 4th grader would be asked to correct on a grammar test. And this is a news station. Consumer Affairs is either ignorance or willful maliciousness. The fact is that huge portions of the populace have gluten...
  18. I got glutened this past weekend and got a headache and brain fog nearly immediately. Ate an organic apple and that helped considerably. I was able to focus and my headache got to a manageable point. Just something that I observed. It does make sense though, apples are nature's detoxers. I only inhaled gluten though, I didn't ingest it so I'm not...
  19. Can I just tell you how much this made me smile? Thank you. I am actually flying out to the Health Now Clinic in California (I live in Wisconsin) along with my husband and a very good friend because we all just got sick of playing the incompetence game. They seem to know what they are doing and it is better then spending a kagillion dollars and wasting...
  20. There are several Soy Free/Gluten Free options in this thread: Click Me
  21. I convert them. At least that seems to be my track record so far. I have yet to talk to someone whose house I frequent who has not raised an eyebrow at the myriad of things that have cleared up for me and looked into it themselves. I always hit on 2 or 3 problems they have. Once they go gluten-free they find that their symptoms go away...
  22. Sure thing guys, I've put a request in for my Doc to send a link or copy of the study and I'll post something when I hear back. If it helps in the interim my doctor is Dr. Rick Petersen, author of the Gluten Effect. He isn't average Dr. Moron. Up until 4 months ago he was towing the gluten can't break the skin line (While noting that a number...
  23. Yes. Gluten can get in through the skin. For years Docs said it was not possible but new studies indicate that it is. This is in addition to the numerous people who have had reactions (Myself included).
  24. You may want to check out the videos and blogs of Dr. Vikki Petersen. Lots of useful information on how gluten can effect us in insidious ways. I found them to be very valuable in my research and to give my eyes a break from so much reading. Open Original Shared Link
  25. I would suspect that you got glutened somewhere along the way and with all of the beasties inside you making your system out of balance it has worsened your reaction. That or being without the reactions for so long has severely lowered your tolerance for such pain. In a hotel traveling, have you made sure that your lotion, shampoos etc...are gluten...
