  1. Yup, the increasingly worse cramps and back pain is what I've been getting too. Much heavier periods, spotting before they were supposed to start, irregularity. And I went from taking a couple Ibuprofen a month to several a day to the much stronger Naproxen
  2. Interesting. Ever since I started showing serious symptoms for Celiac early this year, my periods went from a minor annoyance to a majorly painful event every month. The cramps were unbearable and my normally clockwork system went haywire. The gynecologist found an ovarian cyst and told me I might have endometriosis but that I was too young to be tested for...
  3. 1. Female 2. 27 3. Diagnosed 9/29/10. Biospy confirmed on 10/8/10. 4. Not that I know of. I'm adopted and don't have contact with my birth family. Trying to work up the nerve to find them and inform them that they may need to be tested. 5. Severe enough to interfere with my daily life but it doesn't cause the crippling pain that some people get. ...
  4. Congratulations! After almost a full year of Celiac-induced constipation, I'm totally jealous. But then, I get jealous of my dog when I walk him everyday and marvel at his effortlessness.
  5. Well, it's helped me because I was diagnosed with Celiac but, even if your biospy is negative, there's no reason not to at least try for a few months to a year or so to see if it improves.
  6. My gastroenterologist actually drew me that exact picture when she was diagnosing me. She put in a third category in the middle of people where the water is just lapping against the iceberg, causing minor, manageable symptoms
  7. Some see results in days, some see results in weeks, some see results in months. Just as everyone has different symptoms, everyone has different healing times.
  8. It's frustrating not getting answers but don't give up looking if you feel there really is something there. I spent months and months going to doctors and getting tests, constantly hoping something, anything would come back positive to explain my symptoms. I went to doctors who dismissed me, insisted it was in my head, one who even laughed at me, until I...
  9. Since going gluten-free earlier this month, the milder KP on my upper arms is about 90% gone. (My mom's reaction? "Wow.") That was the first thing to start to clear up. It's still pretty obvious on my legs but I'm confident that they'll follow suit. Just a little disappointed that sleeveless/skirt weather is behind us here in New England
  10. No. It's as simple as that. Like you said, people can have silent, latent, or asymptomatic Celiacs
  11. You mean it gets better? Thank goodness. I was just diagnosed and the Ener-G Brown Rice is the first gluten-free bread I've tried. I was afraid that this was as good as it gets. Knowing that someone thinks this is the worse they've had is actually very encouraging. Thank you!
  12. The local Shaw's and Hannaford have them here in their natural/organic food sections. I'm not really a big fan either, I find the date flavor overwhelming. Still looking for some kind of granola / snack bar that's safe for me to eat. I'm kind of an appallingly picky eater.
  13. Is there anyone who could help you with your diet? Like a nutritionist? Or even a naturopath? They might be able to guide you and help alleviate some of your anxieties about what you're eating. (I have anxiety issues, too, and I hate hearing it, especially from strangers, but counseling can help get you over some of these hurdles.)
  14. I'm not a fan of the IBS diagnosis either. That being said, though, there human gut produces serotonin and the theory is that anti-depressants that block the overproduction of serotonin in the gut
  15. Endoscopy, no colonoscopy. Generally an endoscopy is done to confirm Celiac because they're looking for flattening of the villi in the small intestine. Much less to-do over an endoscopy. My GI doctor said there was no reason for me to have a colonoscopy because I have none of the risk factors for cancer: 27, no bleeding/black stool, no associated pain. She...
  16. Me. Same exact symptoms. The GI I saw ran the blood test pretty much on a whim and I was positive. Sluggishly constipated and needing a little help, gas, bloating, always feeling tired, totally lacking motivation to do anything. I've had some other symptoms: bouts of unexplained itchiness, chronic sinus congestion, mild depression, and anxiety, but...
  17. The possibility of osteoporosis, nerve damage, even cancer, doesn't scare you? I know high school is tough; I hated it. But the idea of being the slightest bit different in the eyes of your classmates is scarier to you than the damage you're doing to your body? You don't even have to tell your classmates and friends if you don't want to. Buy some gluten...
