  2. This forum been a lifeline for me since I joined. I'm posting some links that might help you below. When I was first diagnosed I was extremely effected by cross contamination. It turns out that I have other health issues and some of my problems are not caused by celiac. Our wonderful Peter is also correct that some sites and products are not proven to contain...
  3. Welcome to the board. I'm going to post some web sites below that might help you (or help any people who don't understand this disease). I hope they help. You have joined an amazing group of people. They've been a lifeline for me since I was diagnosed last spring and joined in October. We're all here for you!!!! Loey Open Original Shared Link https...
  4. It is quite daunting to have to replenish everything. Just try to buy a little something every week and always read labels. I'm unemployed and was just rejected for disability (seeing a lawyer tomorrow - fingers crossed) so it's really hard or me to buy large amounts of products. Especially when the gluten-free food is so expensive. Good luck! Loey
  5. My doctor had me taking 4000 mg of D3 with vitamin C in it. I had high levels after my first blood retest so I stopped it and will be tested again. Hope this helps. Loey P.S. I used the CVS drug store brand - it was gluten-free
  6. You are NOT a wimp!!!! We have so many side effects to deal with. A lot of us also have additional diseases (I have CLL, Scoliosis and a few more). I've been trying to get disability but got turned down. Now I'm fighting for it. There is no way I can do what is required in my profession (Special Ed teacher). Please do not think you are a wimp. Just do what...

  8. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I'm posting some links below that explain celiac to those who don't suffer from it. I hope it helps your husband to understand your problem and how important it is to remain gluten-free. Feel free to PM me if you need to vent one-on-one. 9. I'm so sorry you're feeling so horrible. I think all of your symptoms are possible after being glutened, especially if you are in early diagnosis. There is never anything to be sorry about. We are here for you!!! Please feel free to PM me if you need to vent one-on-one. There's a great online company called Body Sense that has gluten free products. I...
  10. Of course J will graduate and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! Clark & I had a horrible time adjusting to Tony's leaving (especially since he rarely got in touch at first). Things improved over the year and today he's bringing his stuff (and his crush whom we love) home to drop off his stuff then go back up to Brown to get Bethany's things (crush) to store...
  11. Hi Psilles, This will be quick as I don't feel very psilly right now. I got turned down by Disability! Now I have to start the appeal process. I started it online and it's endless. But, I didn't get on here to complain. I just miss you all and wanted to let you know I'll be offline a few days because I can finally have my lumbar and (hopefully) shoulder...
  12. Hang in there Nik! How old is he? Tony and I have had a horrible relationship over the past few years and it seems to have turned a corner. I imagine it will get even better when he learns about the cancer. Sometimes parents have to do the right, not easy, thing. I'm proud of you and am here for you whenever you need to vent. Love, Loey...
  13. I don't think you're over reacting. This is a really tough diet to follow and even harder for outsiders to understand. Most restaurants and caterers will work with you on a simple menu. I had a restaurant bend over backwards o help me after a funeral. I'm posting a few links on celiac that you might want to share with the bride and others. I hope that...
  14. You go girl!!!!!! It's so good to hear a story with a happy ending. See, we can be normal (if normal exists). Hugs and congratulations, Loey
  15. Hang in there tguy. We've all had substantial challenges and multiple illnesses related to this disease. I've found that the smell from marijuana is gone after you shower and brush. I have several other illnesses (CLL, Scoliosis, arthritis, and celiac). I'm hoping to also be able to get a medical marijuana card. Just remember you're not alone and this support...
  16. Hi Psilles, Just a quick note before I head back to bed to let you know that things went well yesterday and the result showed that I have hypertension (treatable with meds). The worst thing about the procedure were 1) it took 4 tries to find a vein (and the IV specialist) and 2) I had to lie on my back for 6 hours (ouch). Now I can reschedule the other...
  17. OK, my life is officially material for a sitcom. I have to delay all of my procedures (shots for shoulder and back and removal of lymph node) because I have two blocked aortic arteries and now have to have cardiac catheterization next week possibly followed by immediate angioplasty. I'm actually finding it all rather amusing. I'm calm and trust my doctors...
  18. Thanks my friend, I'm going to check it out on Amazon after my doctor appointment this morning (I have one every day this week). Going to see the band Kansas this Friday with Tny. Still not telling him until the summer and finals are over. My painting is progressing SLOWLY. Basically a five year old can d better. Not giving up, though. It's relaxing...
  19. Some gastrointestinal bug. Love, Loey
  20. Not for me. I take a medication called Ropinerole at night and a lower dose in the morning. Loey
  21. Hello my dearest psilles, I don't know if you realize how much your sweet posts and support mean to me. Just found out I have to have surgery (possibly double). I have a lymph node under my arm that's excruciating and I also have an aortic aneurism by my spleen. Seeing a surgeon on Wednesday. Never thought I'd say I can't wait to see a surgeon. On...
  22. Welcome to our wonderful group. I joined in October 2010 and I have to say I have never met a more supportive, intelligent and kind group of people anywhere in my life. I don't know what I'd do without this forum. I'm copy and pasting two links you might find useful. Remember, regardless of what a package says ALWAYS check the ingredients!!! I hope these...

    ARCHIVED I Am So Stupid

You are NOT stupid. We all are learning our way around this illness. I'm pasting below a link to a list of medications that are "supposed" to be gluten-free. Check the labels anyway. Also Triumph Dining has a whole series of grocery books, restaurant locators and dining cards that explain celiac in the language of the restaurant and the in english on the...
  25. I was recently diagnosed with CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia) and I'm happy to say that none of your numbers are in my range. Did your doctor do a bone marrow aspiration? Mine doesn't do anything invasive until I need chemo/radiation. Please feel free to PM me if you want to talk or need to vent. Also I recommend going to the cancer society website. They...
