ARCHIVED Trace Gluten Responsible For Ongoing Symptoms - Study
GFreeMO replied to dilettantesteph's topic in Super Sensitive People
I am going to start a big container garden this spring out on my deck so I can do the same. I am glad that you and your son are improving. I have been on the long hard road myself. What brand of sparkling water do you buy? -
Thanks Steph. I have noticed that gluten makes my PMS worse. It also causes heavy and irregular periods. Sadly, my undiagnosed celiac that went on for years robbed me from my chance of having children. I think it is a combo. of gluten and peri. I am over 40 so that could def. be involved. I was gluten free for 3 years and started having problems...

Lately celiac has really been messing with my period. Like for instance, in Nov. I had 2 periods in one month. Dec. and Jan were normal-ish. I had one in Late Feb. and now I am having another one. They seem to come at random. Very annoying. I also feel like crap on my period. I am still dealing with intestinal inflammation and malabsorbtion issues...

ARCHIVED Trace Gluten Responsible For Ongoing Symptoms - Study
GFreeMO replied to dilettantesteph's topic in Super Sensitive People
Great article. I am sticking to my naturally gluten free diet too. If I go off of it and add something processed, I get sick. I would love to be a celiac who could eat the gluten free labeled packaged foods but this just is not the case for me. I stick strictly with meat, fruit and vegetables. I am making my own orange juice. I am eating honey for... -
Thank you! That is exactly what I am looking for too. Local for me as well.

ARCHIVED Enjoy Life Products
GFreeMO replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't think it's gluten either but something made me feel like crap in one of those products. Oh well. They were really expensive for what you get. The cookies have date paste in them and I have a problem with grapes and raisins so I think dates are in the same family...not sure really but the hubby can eat them....he'll eat anything. -

I'm ok with the chocolate I think but something in either the Plentils or the cookies is causing a reaction. Glad I didnt buy a bunch of products. -
Hi, Does anyone know of a good and safe honey? Thanks

ARCHIVED Doc Said I Was Super Sensitive
GFreeMO replied to GFreeMO's topic in Super Sensitive People
I have been messing around with a few packaged gluten free items. I have had bad results. Migraine, joint pain and digestive issues. Back to whole foods cooked by me only. It's not worth the hassle, price or illness that comes with it. -
So sorry that you got hit! It happens to us all. It will become second nature to you and you will know what you can and can't grab in situations like you had today. I usually grab Sunmaid raisins and a banana or an orange juice until I can get home for a more substantial meal. Hope you feel better soon!

ARCHIVED Enjoy Life Products
GFreeMO replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I ended up driving to get some Enjoy Life products and I am glad that I did. I will mail order next time but I wanted to make sure that I liked them well enough. I bought Plentils and they are very very good. I also got a box of chocolate chip cookies and I really like those too. I think they are keepers. -

Before I drive 100 miles each way, I am wondering if it would be worth the trip for Enjoy Life products. I have tried the rice milk chocolate bars and really loved those. I am wondering about the Plentils and some of the cookies and bars. Are these good and worth the drive? Any specific ones that you like? Thanks! -
Johnsons Baby shampoo has been helping my scalp DH. Maybe give it a try.

ARCHIVED Favorite - Best Cold Cuts And Chips
GFreeMO replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Bart. WIth Dh, the thing is to avoid iodized salt so some salt is ok. I'd have to call and see which kind of salt Kettle uses. I have been eating Lays Stax b/c I have read on here that they are made on dedicated equipment. They are so so. I wish I could have nuts but I am allergic. I hear ya about cold cuts but sometimes I need something quick... -

The big online store that is the same name as a river that starts with a A has Enjoy Life chocolate bars. They are made in a dedicated facility and are pretty good. I like the Rice crunch one. -

I have done this. It will work. You need to buy some 100% cocoa butter for it to work. I used Tisano brand. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Betty Crocker Brownies And Cookies
GFreeMO replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks Prickly. I just bought a box of the cookies. I am going to try your tips. The cake mix makes pretty good banana bread. Shadow, I don't think that we can use the brownie mix this high in our altitudes but the other mixes will work just fine. -

Thanks everyone. Tarnal, I had no idea about the damage still going on. It explains a lot b/c I usually don't start feeling better until about 2 weeks. Thanks for the info on the guide books. I'll have to try those. Notkuroda, I hope that your wife starts feeling better very soon! Hopefully being at home will help. Colleen, Thanks for the tips... -

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the help. I don't think that carrots are agreeing with me right now for some reason. I am also finding other foods that I can not tolerate right now. Healing from celiac is going to be a long process and at least I am on the right path now! Thanks -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Betty Crocker Brownies And Cookies
GFreeMO posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Does anyone else live at over 7,000 feet in altitude? I am unable to make Betty Crocker cookies or brownies due to this. The cookies are like hard hockey pucks and the brownies rise and fall quickly as soon as them come out of the oven. When they cool, they are hard like tar that has melted in the sun and hardened. I followed the high altitude directions... -

Thanks Lisa and haha about the tree. Is it normal to have good days then have a bad one no matter if you are sure you are gluten free? Yesterday was a good day, I thought wow...i'm feeling better. Today I have slid backward. All I had yesterday was chicken carrots rice and applesauce and a banana. All gluten free but I feel like crapola again.
